Have Ireland never played USA?

Has anyone mentioned how wank SAUSAGES must be to not be able to get past that shite to qualify?
-
Fancy trying to step up against a forward who is in his own half ????

He's one of my favourite posters but not sure he could do a job in the Newcastle midfield like.

I reckon Pat's gash was bigger than Terry's.

Mexico are great, I thought they'd struggle with the step up in class, given that they have to play some right shite in their confederation, but no, they look excellent.

I wonder if Donald Stewart is going to re-create a Middlesbro Swingers Club in Sunderland with Jacqueline

Not worthy of a thread - 2018 FIFA World Cup edition

I hope Morocco wins it. Fuck off with yer 3 way world cup. Especially as Mexico has held it twice since we have had it . -
RIP, another of my old man's favourites

Was actually expecting this to be a Butt like moment, honestly can't remember that. Not even a yellow. Aye. Pretty funny. I assume the Tunisians didn't even make a big fuss trying to get him sent off or booking. "Flykicked in the face but it was an honest attempt". That's a straight red now. Makes me wonder how many goals and achievements the likes of Maradona would rack up now. He must've been kicked up and down Italy week-in-week-out. Also puts into perspective some of the shite PFM's in the media come out with. These are people that were professionals in the game when stuff like this wasn't even a yellow. Then you're asked to make comments about Mesut fucking Ozil. I have often wondered how good Ossie Ardiles would have been in today's game. He would routinely get kicked all round the park by everybody - I will always remember Gerry Gow kicking him up in the air in the opening seconds of the Cup Final, with a tackle that would be a routine red card nowadays. Likewise, some of the treatment Pele got was ludicrous in today's context. I reckon Ardiles would have been comfortably better than Modric, for example. Cracking player Ossie. Did all of the little things as well as his own game that allowed Hoddle to flourish. Loved his goal at Old Trafford in that famous Cup replay when Joe Jordan did Aleksic and Hoddle went in goal

Paid for 2. 44 and 19 please. If available

He means Palace doesn't he?

I don't honestly know but I'm guessing not judging by where the World Cup finals are being held . I guess they would if their palms aren't greased sufficiently.

It's more about the fit for ownership test which clearly doesn't work. Which is ruled by the FA/Premier league I thought ? The Culture Secretary can obviously nudge the FA , if he so desires. And let's be honest, it's long overdue if they do get chastised because there are way too many undesirables running football clubs. Something clearly isn't working.

Given that we'd lost to Portugal and drew with Morocco before these 2 events deprived him of Robson and Ray Wilkins and then with this new team demolish Poland and Paraguay before Maradona turned up, then it's kind of impossible not to question the manager . But as I say, it's not just about 86. It's about the failure to qualify for the Euros in 84 and the pathetic showing in Germany 88 too. The press had every right to be critical of him. Just not in the hyperbolic way the press do things. As much as I didn't rate him as an England manager incidentally, I didn't want him to leave given we all knew who the successor was to be and the predictably shite way the team went after him
-
That just isn't true, and I say that as someone who was in the Holte End that day. Men my age and older who had lived through the Harry Kartz era in the 80s were at it, vitriolic in their abuse. They were genuinely ecstatic at our demise. Some of it was banter, most of it wasn't

Hats off to him Kinell

I'll have a smidgeon of this please if still available. A couple if possible

Hed never have dropped Wilkins if not suspended nor Robson but for his shoulder which wouldn't have brought in Peyter Reyd and Steve Hodge which fully allowed our best midfield player, Glenn Hoddle to properly flourish .

Eight years in the hot seat (third longest serving England manager). 95 games, with better results (w47 d30 l18) than achieved with Newcastle. It’s easy to pick out woulda-shoulda-coulda choice points, decisions he might have made etc. There are also lesser, in my opinion, shorter serving mangers wth better records, many of which include more meaningless friendly wins. But I think he got so close to winning the World Cup with two well organised England sides that my main take on his tenure is he was unlucky. There was a nice bit of footage of him from Italia 90 which perfectly captures that feeling, I'd say we got close to winning 86 World Cup in spite of him not because of him. Then there's the dismal failure to qualify for France 84 and the pathetic showing at Germany 88. Not as bad as any of the recent managers nor his immediate successor, but in my opinion, not a good England manager.
