  1. Relieved and happy that we didn't get beat. For me not losing to Sunderland is the thing that avoids a couple of weeks of depression. A win would have been great, especially given other results, but more importantly we didn't lose.

Well I think you're exaggerating, all of those choices basically comes down to Pardew's conservatism when selecting HBA, which I've already said I disagree with. But he has been getting results, which (to a certain extent) provides justification. At least from the POV of a professional football manager whose business is results. With Simpson, I don't think there are any other options that are better at the moment. Hopefully we have a fullback lined up to come in in the summer.
  3. Same but with Ryan Taylor on the bench and Santon/Simpson as fullbacks.

I tend to agree mate, people seem keen to focus on the good players we have as a reason not to rate Pardew, but they tend to forget about the absolutely terrible ones we have as well. A lot of the time he's picking the "absolutely terrible" ones ahead of the good ones though isn't he? Well sometimes he makes decisions that I don't agree with, leaving out HBA being the main one. What I mean is that the fundamental strength of our squad is often used as a reason to say Pardew's work has just been average, but I don't think that's fair when we're carrying some of the players Si mentions.

What's up? The short sightedness of your post. I'm not saying he'll have to be hailed as the next Mourinho based on this season's results. But if he lasts a season and manages us into (say) 6th place then I would say he's done a good job. For me that's just as good an indicator as whether his stats are better or worse than Glenn Roeder's. Don't see how using a season's results to judge how a manager has performed is short-sighted.

I think league position will be a decent indicator of how he's done like, that's kind of the point of a league.
  8. Who did Pep shove out of Barca?

Ah, you have the future sight. Apologies for doubting.
  10. Everyone misses sometimes, no problem with it really. (Except Shola).
  11. He's been very promising so far, nothing's changed. He'll be a great signing if we sort out the service.

Why do we need to compare his record to Roeder?
  13. A good challenge though isn't it? Is it? He's done pretty well with them already. No idea what he's thinking obviously, but if I was him I'd want a go somewhere else. It's a good job like, so if Redknapp/Wenger/Fergie/Dalglish are still in their jobs he might end up back at Chelsea.
  14. The Living Legend aka Hammer of the Mackems aka The Derby Destroyer aka The Big Sho aka The Flawless Penalty aka The Mackem Slayer aka The Ball Trapper Supreme aka The 20 Minute Wonder aka Saint Shola. When's the testimonial? I'm there.
  15. Don't see the point of Mourinho going back to Chelsea, he's far more likely to want a new project surely?
  16. Absolutely mad sacking this. The players he fell out with were the ones they need rid of anyway. A young manager with a project that he was probably capable of making work if given a chance. Terrible decision IMO.
  17. Pardew absolutely has to have a medium-term plan that involves HBA as a regular major part of our starting XI. No other option makes sense.
