They would have been well within their rights to sack him when he got sent down, so I don't think the club owes Joey Barton anything at all. He has played well for a small amount of the time he's been here. We could do with him this season for sure, but beyond that I'm not sad to see him go.

This place takes the saying "you're only as good as your last game" far too literally like. Simpson is a decent RB, probably good enough for us at the moment, whereas Ryan Taylor is a great freekick taker who is otherwise appalling.

Not a lot else to say really. Howay Dave, every player says that when they join a club. Fact is he was pissed off at NUFC for a number of reasons, real and imagined, and he obviously thought he could find a better club than QPR. He's at Loftus Road because nobody better would take him.

He looks gutted.

Joey has to look out for himself obviously, the deal at QPR is better than what he would have got here, so for him the decision is obvious. From the club's point of view, you could argue that they should have reacted less seriously to what he said on twitter, but I can understand why they were furious about it. So the end result is that we're missing a decent (but not brilliant) player, which weakens our squad a bit. We could have done without that. But the "lost him for nothing" bit is a bit of a non-issue as he was leaving for nothing at the end of the season anyway. His value to us was already basically zero (financially I mean). So faults and errors on both sides, shame it has come to this, but I certainly don't think Joey comes out of this all good and the club all bad.

How much is Sturridge on? And how much would he cost to buy?

He was leaving at the end of the season anyway, I guess that softens the blow a bit. Also he's a massive twat. We will miss him as a player though, although he is slightly overrated.

It's not really news, almost every manager in the league is probably in exactly the same situation.

Everyone is a loser in this like, including Joey really. He is bound to fall out with Warnock and batter Taraabt at some point, and he'll be playing in the Championship from next season. Sorry to see him go though, we will miss him a bit.

How? IMO he hardly touched Taylor and he went down looking for a penalty. I hate to see those given, it's basically a penalty for running behind you opponent. Still, they are usually given so as I said we probably should have had it.

It did look congested all over the pitch at times, nobody had much time on the ball.

I think he's maneouvered himself into a position where he has to join QPR. Maybe he was trying to flush other clubs out, but they haven't arrived.

Absolutely agree, always thought this. I think managers think that if they put a youngster in and they fuck up then a lot of pressure will be on them as a manager, also, the player that was replaced is going to be raging in this scenario. However the paradox is, if the experienced guy made the same mistake as the youngster (like we've seen Smith do over and over) he doesn't singled out as being naive and such like. It's such a cop out and weak for managers to rely on senior players simply because they've done it before. Who cares if you've played over 200 PL games if you were redundant in half of them Fact is, if you're a better player or look odds on to be a better player, you should be on the pitch at least getting close to thirty mins a game. It's the one thing that irritates me the most about football managers TBH, their insistence on always picking the experienced names. I would like to see one experienced CB alongside a young and promising one, a good experienced spine in midfield and attack but mixed with 3 or 4 proper youngsters who have ability and enthusiasm. I know the pressure is on managers though, and they're reluctant to take what might be seen as risks.

I'm beyond worrying about the chain reactions or alternatives now, I just want a LB through the door.

It's a shame these managerial geniuses all have to make fools of themselves in the media. Fergie and Wenger are both amazing managers but it's impossible to respect the shite they come out with.

I don't "want him to leave", I can just see how he might cause problems if he's hanging around the place unhappy and demotivated. It might not happen obviously, but it's a concern IMO.

Never understood how experience is valued so much more than youth in the professional game. The advantages of experience are important, but so are the advantages of being young, enthusiastic and fearless. Every team should do much better to get the mix right IMO.
