  1. I honestly never believed this would happen, I'll never think about football in the same way again. If Carroll doesn't care about the club, I'll find it hard to believe anyone else does.
  2. Aye, the worst pain is yet to come - the smiling photo of him holding up a Liverpool shirt beside Suarez, the first time he scores for them, the next time he plays for England as a Liverpool player.
  3. I would rather we kept the money til the summer than spunk it all over the place on panic buys.
  4. Nolan is sitting on his sofa, crying, listen to 'All By Myself' as we speak.
  5. I really wonder whether I can watch another Match of the Day ever again.
  6. I like that for the same reason. Although hanging out on here hearing SSN second-hand sort of defeats the point of not watching it.
  7. Are we collecting left-sided midfielders like? What a farce.
  8. He needs to spend more than what he's just brought in or today is a total piss take. I know what you're saying... but surely all the clubs profits and losses have to be taken together? It's a bit like saying when a non-league club sells a player to a bigger team they should invest all that on players. Obviously that never happens, because they do it to prop up their otherwise precarious position - some of it goes to service their bank loans and some of it goes to fix the club house roof. If NUFC needs to bring more money in and bring down its costs then it's hardly surprising that we won't spend all transfer revenue on new players.

    Alan Pardew

I'm pretty sure that if it had been up to Pardew Carroll would be staying.
  10. I'm not saying I necessarily disagree, but is this not the only example?
  11. It is slightly depressing that Liverpool are prepared to splash the cash after half a bad season. To be fair though, they are about to receive £50m for Torres.
  12. I think Ashley's a prize dick, but very few people would have turned down £35m for Carroll. I'm much more disappointed in the player for not saying he wouldn't go.

    Ambition

Well even so, success on the pitch (or making us successful enough to sell for more than he paid) is the only way for him to get his money back anyway. I think he's a cunt for some of the decisions he's made, but he hasn't taken a penny out of NUFC so far. In fact, it's cost him a fortune.

    Ambition

Although if I was owner I would have told Liverpool to fuck off, it's far too much to expect a real-life one to do that. The offer was such that almost no club could turn it down. I blame Carroll more for not saying he wanted to stay. I think NUFC do have some ambition, they probably do want success. The issue is that they only want it under fairly strict financial conditions. Sadly the state of the modern Premier League means that success isn't possible wihout dangerously risky levels of spending. And even then it isn't guaranteed, as we know from the Shepherd era.
  15. If football means more than money or entertainment, what aspect of this excess was Andy Carroll the avatar of? Good times in Bambu? Well I thought he was a young local lad who cared about wearing the number nine, and he genuinely loved the club. As I said, now I feel naive for believing that.
  16. Has Ashley not improved the way we do transfer deals? Were the deals where we never saw the money not done under Shepherd?
  17. At the end of the day, football is supposed to be about more than business and more than money. It's supposed to mean something. Fair enough, people might say that's naive and it's just a business now. I that's the case, what's the difference between me supporting NUFC or choosing to support Chelsea for a few months? Or giving up on it completely? If it's just entertainment, or just a business, then it ceases to be beautiful and I don't want anything to do with it. At the moment I feel like an idiot for believing that we wouldn't sell Carroll or that the #9 shirt and NUFC meant anything to him.
  18. I don't care who's 'to blame' TBH, Ashley should have knocked back the bid and Carroll should have said he was desperate to stay at the club he loves. Either could have stopped this happening If we get relegated now we can have no complaints at all.
  19. Feel fucking sick about this TBH. Local lad, born 5 minutes down the road from me, wearing the number 9 for the toon. The stuff dreams are made of, a player you could really get behind. Fuck this shit about £35m being too much to turn down. It's not about money, it's about sending the message that we're NUFC and we're on the way up. And fuck Andy Carroll for leaving us, why the fuck would he want to play for Liverpool anyway?
