  1. FFS, there's no way Nolan would be driving Carroll to sign or Liverpool!!
  2. I thought the Anelka thing was bullshit when I first heard it, why would he go to Liverpool?
  3. How will we clearly accept it? We rejected £30m, but we'll 'clearly accept' £35m? Hopefully the rejection was because he isn't for sale, rather than the start of a bidding process. I would be gutted if we sold Carroll, some things are about more than money.
  4. I really want to set up a twitter account, I can be a football journalist too.
  5. I'd be disappointed in this sale at any price. It's not about the money, it's about the statement of intent. Not that I think he's going, rejecting £30m says to menthat we don't want to sell him.
  6. Think they're already fended... it's more a case of ignoring the media.
  7. You might be right brummie, I'm certainly not sure that he'll do well for us. I just think the deal is low-risk and if he does well and we have a purchase price agreed up front then we could end up with a great buy.
  8. I have literally no feelings about Villa, except being slightly miffed about the relegation gloating they did. TBF to Ireland he was pretty much forced to go to Villa in the first place, and it seemed like he resented being made a make-weight in someone else's transfer deal. Hopefully he'll be another player with a point to prove who will prove it player for us.
  9. Not that I know of, he just comes across as a bit of a nut case that might get up people's noses. Even still he would only single himself out. I think if played in his correct position of attacking midfield he could be a real revelation. He knows Barton who will help him settle having come through the City academy. If he turns out poorly we ship him back no harm no foul. I'm really excited about this tbh. I agree, I was just exploring any possible down sides. I think he's got a 70% chance of doing well for us at least!
  10. Usually people improve bids after they get rejected! On a serious note, losing Carroll and getting Pavluychenko would be an absolute disaster.
  11. Not that I know of, he just comes across as a bit of a nut case that might get up people's noses.
  12. Disruption to the dressing room is my only reservation, but I think we've got a strong enough group now to handle this fruitloop.
  13. Basically my view, it's a very low risk with a high potential reward.
  14. A surprise narrow win would make up for the recent surprise narrow draws, hope we can get it.
  15. The atmosphere at the Cottage is usually pretty flat, and the games usually really awful. Up to us to raise the roof before kick off and make it sound like a home game. I'd go for a one or two goal win, it's achievable.
  16. The lineup picks itself, but theres a lot of scope for the positioning. A lot of them can play in various positions, which is a good thing. We could just go down the old Man Utd route when they had Ronaldo. Just have Tiote sitting and let the rest play wherever! I think that's probably the best option, unless we get another good striker. There would be a lot of scope for interchange between players and would be hard to pick up. Maybe it would fall apart if we lose the ball, but that's the Newcastle way!

    Dan Gosling

I love the defence lawyer quotes! Saying it's not really that bad because Gosling can buy a replacement! Shameless.
  18. Why would Sky want Keys and Grey out though, were they not their top presenters?
  19. I would have loved to see him back here, decent partner for Carroll as well.
  20. I don't understand, surely if he does well and scores goals it's good for us... either because we can play him or sell him. Would you rather he just rotted in the netherzone?
  21. Class, welcome back to the Premier League Oba... just don't make Birmingham good.
  22. Would be a good idea, I'd like to see him actually play some football.
