  1. If our recent selling record is anything to go by you're right, we've got a good record of getting value out of outgoing players.
  2. I don't get why that would disappointing for people. I know Given is highly rated but in the current market Johnson is probably worth £10m, assuming his injury isn't chronic.
  3. Different sources. skysports.com is just a name, it's not actually Sky Sports How does that work mate, is it just other sources updating it or what? I think Sky bought an existing football website didn't they? Then just rebranded it and added links to Sky TV, but kept the same staff/system etc.
  4. I'd agree except for Johnson, he's very inspiring. (Also known as Johnsinho to his mates)
  5. Johnson is top drawer, I'm a bit concerned about the injury but if he's assessed and passes a proper medical I would welcome the signing. When back fit he's a class above anything else we've got in midfield.
  6. They were different kinds of legends, Pav was a cult hero but Shay was liked for actually being good.
  7. Not entirely, he's just at the start of his career and Given's at the end of his. The injuries are a bit worrying though.
  8. Looks like Bents going somewhere then... He's outside SJP/at the training ground/having a pint in the strawberry right now...
  9. Today's actually turning out to be quite interesting! Didn't see that coming
  10. Dunno, I guess the deals will both have their intricacies and details so doing them separately might make sense? That's if the Johnson one is true anyway (which I hope it is).
  11. In the current market I would say he is... potentially an England CM for years to come. It is a bit of a risk, but if we're spending decent fees then these are the type of players they should be going on.
  12. I think if he could tone down his running a bit his crossing would improve. Normally he tries to hit a surprise ball in on the end of a 25 yard run battling with two defenders, he's probably too exhausted to kick the ball a decent distance. Maybe it's decision making rather than actually technical crossing ability, he tries the crosses when they're just not on. When he had a bit of space yesterday he put in at least one great cross cutting in on his right foot.
  13. I don't know anything about Fox, but for some reason I'm excited about getting him.
  14. That's the mark of the natural defender, when you can put that extra bit of bite into the legal tackles... classic stuff. There were a couple of whinging mackems in the pub yesterday talking about it being a foul, but it was a brilliant challenge.
  15. There must be worries that Robbie Keane wont make it down to North London in time!! Arshavin must be hoping it gets extended, at this rate he'll have to fly to 4 or 5 different clubs!
  16. I know, unbelievable, think there's a bit of his club being too greedy on the fee as well though.
  17. Not yet that comfortable in forward positions, but maybe being told to be cautious as well... we obviously didn't want to get exposed at the back yesterday. I can't for the life of me understand anyone saying we need to buy a LB to replace Enrique, the kid is quality and should be allowed to get better. If is really trying to sell him it's an excellent example of why managers shouldn't always be allowed full control over transfers!
  18. For some reason I can't bring myself to hate Shola... he always puts his all in for the team, he's just not that good. The problem is he needs an extra second to do anything, you just don't get that time in the premiership.
  19. Awesome player, came out of nowhere as well, the best kind of signing.
  20. Aye, he struggled in the air a bit but not many defenders can beat Jones to the ball consistently. Think his confidence just looks a little low at the moment, if we had a decent squad we could pull him out of the firing line for a couple of games to regroup.
  21. Thought it was a rick from Colo at the time but it was Nicky Butt's fault really, stupid header to play back. Definitely, it was a classic see-it-coming error, I was shouting "don't head it fucking backwards" before he did it.
  22. Nice to see hear some slagging of Man City's transfer policy on 5Live yesterday... I think it was Mark Lawrenson who described the signings of Bridge and Bellamy for the huge fees as 'a joke' and though Kaka 'did exactly the right thing'.
  23. Very mixed feelings about Shay now, always thought he was one of our all-time best but the way he has left us in our hour of need has taken the shine off for me. Wouldn't have had a problem with him going in the summer after keeping us up, but I guess he thought this was his last chance for a big move. From the financial point of view it's good business, providing we don't go down because we let him go. In Harps we trust.
  24. My expectations were so low going into this window that I'll be chuffed if we end up with anyone else!
