I shouldn't comment anyway, I didn't even see the interview in question.

In the media... Playing for Newcastle = badly treated little angel. Playing for Wigan = whinging little runt. -
Shay Given signs for Manchester City for £5.9m plus add-ons

It's horrible like, I don't think we were wrong to sell him in the circumstances but it did feel horrible to see him in the City shirt. -
To be fair, it is possible that he missed the Eboue thing - it was off the ball and wasn't immediately obvious in real time.
-
I can't really judge him since he left as I only saw him on MOTD... except against us when he was poor. I think he's got potential, but I never rated him when he played for us and don't see any reason to change my mind yet. It's easy to look good when you only get seen on highlights. Playing for Villa will help him though, has he has a lot of pacy, willing players around him that can create space he never had playing in a midfield with Butt/Barton/Geremi.

From what I recall at Rangers he never had an attitude problem. Maybe he just didn't settle in the German League. Sometimes you just don't fit I suppose. Look at the undue stick some of our managers have given Enrique, and the Keane situation at Liverpool. It is odd I guess, just hoping it's nothing that's going to surface suddenly!

I love the fact that Charlie ended up at Wigan... it's hilarious. If Steve Bruce convinced him it was a route to get to Arsenal or Madrid he must have Jedi mind powers. -
I don't care as long as it's not us, but anyway: Blackburn - I have a deep seated hatred for Fat Sam. Tottenham - Started to think they're much bigger and better than they really are, and the media have gone along with it (not to mention their man-love of slack jowels). Bolton and/or Stoke - Nothing teams... out of the two I'd rather Bolton, they've been pretending to be a premiership club for far too long.

I agree and I would be prepared to wait and see, but we need to know of any plans first and not ambiguous statements and cheap talk like what we've had before but genuine plans that we can hold the powers that be to. A detailed statement signed by all for example that can be handed to NUSC and fanzines and fansites as a form of gentlemens agreement, in return we can make promises that no boycotts, protests, marches etc. will be carried out. I know it seems crazy but I think that is what it will take to put a halt to this all. Imagine if that did happen, it would lift the negative vibes and create a sensational positive story for the press. It would be an unprecedented thing in football, fans and owner shaking hands on an agreement. It would create a lot of good PR which is badly needed. I realise I'm speaking in total vain here but I'd love for something like that to happen. That's actually a potentially brilliant idea, although I agree it's a long shot. I remember those 'pupils agreement' things we had to sign at school, agreeing to not hit the teachers and that! Maybe the fans could draft something like that setting out the obligations on both sides... the club, NUSC and (for example) the five biggest fan sites. I'm still a bit uncomfortable that some people are expecting a business to reveal much more about their workings than would ever be possible, but other than that I think it could work. Dreamland maybe...

I agree. Admire the HTT post as well, and it has a lot of sensible points... But the change and 'proof' you (HTT) seek from Mike Ashley can't be provided in anything other than the long term, so if people really want what you say you want, and they seem to, they'll have to be prepared to ease off Ashley for 3-5 years and let him try to make it work. We can't go mental over one transfer window and/or a couple of seasons where we struggle. I think that is what football fans seem fundamentally unable to do, anything other than immediate improvement is not accepted.

Surely players who are suspended don't get time off though? Do they not continue to come in and train and do the gym etc? Mental if true. -

All the best, he can't have done his health any favours the way he's been going on the last few weeks. Hope he's alright. -

Doesn't matter how many owners/major contributors you have (eg Sunderland) its who you get to run it as chairman that counts. Lambias has been a disaster from start to finish. I agree Llambias has been shit, but just look at the trouble Liverpool have had with their two owners. -
Aye, I was going to go but they're taking the piss with that.

Horrible article, loads of assumptions of what the fans want, and the same old depressing shit trotted out. I wonder if they could train a chimp to write local football copy?

If you think having a manager working with a director of football is difficult, try having two different owners! -

Good idea, just economics of supply and demand, clubs have been happy with half-empty grounds for a while... maybe they're coming round to the real world. -

Mort? To an extent at least. Yeah, he was the exception, I would take him back in a flash. It was maybe easier for him because he had a defined brief and a definite time-span. His remit clearly didn't seem to include on the pitch matters either, so that spared him any fan wrath. -

I'm not sure TBH, it's a fecking tough one! As NUSC? They were set up to get Ashley out so IMO to call themselves 'NUSC' at all is a misnomer and only confuses their true aims. If they really are a supporters club they should get on with doing what normal supporters clubs do, whatever that might be. I really think that in the current situation there's nothing to be gained by causing aggravation. They should tell their members and all NUFC fans to forget about anything except getting behind the team until the end of the season. We can't afford to go down. As the club? Ashley needs to grow some balls and stick to his original system, so that would mean bringing in a manager who can work with it. I'd like to see Llambias go and a more fan-friendly chairman come in, but since when have chairmen been fan-friendly?! I'm rambling a bit because I don't really have the answer!
