    Michael Owen

Owen should definitely be in, he's the guy you'd want to bring on if you needed to poach a goal. Capello is full of contradictions though, it's weird. He picks mainly the same players (Bridge) as ever but then tries to be progressive by picking people like Jimmy Bullard.
  2. I think that a few people on here have missed the point. He is not rewarding a charity or other third party, he wants to give back the the *fans*. But is he actually going to help the fans in any way? Will the club cut ticket prices for the season or something? Because if not I don't see what the fans are getting out of it. Except maybe that he stays when he would otherwise have been sold?
  3. Only if they then also repeat Ashley's multitude of other mistakes. Don't want to make this another one of 'those threads'!
  4. I really hope the new owners don't repeat Ashley's mistake by bringing back Keegan again. Maybe we will get a short-term boost, like last time, but inevitabley we'll be left up shit creek again in a year's time, with the fans baying 'sack the board' again.
  5. Aye, but if journalists work for papers like the Mirror then they have to take some part of the responsibility for all the shit it prints. No man is an island.
  6. I disagree, obviously they will try to portray it like you said - but he is just saying what most fans think about the press. He is also using his short contract to his advantage, knowing he has no need to build a long term relationship with the media, as well as creating a siege mentality that will serve us well.
  7. Simon Bird sounds like a complete dick on the audio, what a knob. Like he should be telling Joe when to come in and when to meet the players.
  8. Which is exactly the point I made last week, and theres still fools out there when it comes to KK.... Has Ashley apologised yet? I don't think so, but Ashley supporting is punishable by death.
  9. If I was a club, I would honestly pay a couple of hundred grand a year for a person or two full time on this. They would be like anti-PR, and their job would be to find false statements in the press and take legal action on it. I reckon they'd pay for themselves over a season!
  10. Someone needs to come up with a 'Newcastle Utd takeover rumour generator", take some from column A: Arab South African Cockney Nigerian Taliban etc and some from column B: Consortium Billionaire Cabal Cult Mafia Alliance etc and end with a headline from column C: swoops for magpies in for £400m toon bid set sights on toon join race for newcastle etc It would be fun! Throw in some 'role for Shearer' and 'Keegan to return as boss if deal goes through' if you like
  11. Surely it is much better to take a salary and give it to a really good cause than just save a football club a few quid? It's not like they're suddenly going to slash ticket prices or anything, they'll just make more of a profit.
  12. Nice bit of topical satire, unfortunately not true.
  13. Got a feeling if we'd had Jonas, Martins, Guthrie and Barton available nobody would have typed James Milner's name in weeks.
  14. fully agree Cat But at the moment i think it matches the mood of the fans. I dont particularly like a manger whose mouth makes even a foul mouthed git like me cringe but i just cant help but think, is this the right image we want for the club atm? I bet even Bobby wasn't above the odd rant though, no manager could be. Like what I'm hearing from Joe, even if it is a move to create a 'them versus us' atmosphere, it's a good move. We don't need to be worrying about the 'image of the club' at the moment, we just need someone to kick arses and get some points on the board.
  15. Feck off man, he's just telling it like it is. Go Joe!
  16. Very nice gesture, but don't forget he's able to do it because of the massive amount of money he's already collected in his career. Good on him though, nobody else does it.
  17. Not saying he is the long-term answer, but Kinnear is exactly the kind of personality we need in charge of Newcastle - mature enough to see the big picture, stick in when things go wrong and tells it like it is. None of this 'he's a Geordie' or 'he loves the club and knows the fans' bollocks - just a competent man with bags of experience.
  18. I feel the same, if he did something it would obviously be great but I can't really see it.
  19. Looks like we'll only be able to appoint managers between transfer windows then
  20. Get some experience, looks like we have a couple of good young keepers waiting to step up.
  21. Nobody has a clue, I'm not paying any attention to the ownership issue until a deal is done. Until then it's just a pointless discussion - we've had too much mindless speculation over the last few weeks.
  22. Titus might be available in January. He's got potential, that lad.
  23. Ah, but maybe he's going to cover at left back!
