When did we play Cardiff in the cup while Ashley was owner? I'm pretty sure we did, unless I'm going mental. How do I find out these things? I thought you were talking about the semi final against Man U at the Millennium Stadium until you mentioned Ashley. I don't think we've ever faced Cardiff in the cup in recent times. Hmm, I would say it was in the Championship then, but I know that's not the case as obviously Ashley was hated by then and Michael Owen was playing. Have to get the ticket out when I get home. If Owen was playing and Ashley still a 'good owner' then you're probably talking about Coventry. KK was in charge, was August 2008 with Owen coming on and scoring the winner for us. Ah fuck, I think you're right! I must be mashing together two games in my head. Ah well, step away, nothing to see here!

Obviously a really memorable game! I did say that is wasn't about the game! Most of the stuff I've enjoyed doesn't have much to do with what happens on the pitch - I tend to miss the best games and go to Fulham away.

He certainly looks like he's fully recovered. -

Me too, appalling management and planning for the future... particularly considering we could have done without spending money and wages on a player we didn't need. The fact Zoggy hasn't gone on to sign for Barcelona or someone makes it slightly easier to accept.

I've never had any indication that Fabregas is a twat, always just admired his football. I'm just hoping that his hamstring isn't perfect and Tiote can make a light snack out of him on Sunday.

I enjoyed Cardiff in the cup a couple of seasons ago. Not the game really, just the trip was good and we had some good banter with the toll booth man on the bridge over to Wales! Also I was sitting a row in front of Mike Ashley and his mates, in the days when we still thought he was going to be the perfect owner - a rich English owner who loved football and identified with the fans!

Very good description, I wish more people in football would understand this.

NUFC's goals: 5 SAFC's goals: 1 I'm mainly concerned about that.

No need for posts like this at this point! -
If he was that professional he wouldn't be blabbing his mouth off. That said, I half wondered Sunday when I saw them (Ashley and Llambias) laughing in the stands if they were chuckling about the betting scam they're about to pull off. Given Llambias's history with casinos and Ashley's gambling rep you could almost imagine them colluding to such a degree. They'd have to make absolute millions though to make it worthwhile and I can't see how they'd do that.... so Can see why you're called Mr Logic mate.

MA was enraged by Hughton taking credit on Sunday? What total ballsack. I shouldn't read this thread, it's too ridiculous and terrifying. It's only because Ashley is in charge that it's even gained 1% credibility.

Cheers. And I was serious, I didn't know that. I've never seen anyone wearing a poppy in my country so I was asking myself this. Aye, sorry, I had forgotten you might be from "abroad"

You can't be serious. Just in case you are: http://www.britishlegion.org.uk/remembrance/the-nation-remembers http://www.poppy.org.uk/

UV, if they did offer Hughton a contract then I'm happy to admit I missed that. I thought it was always the intention to renegotiate in January. Either way, he does deserve a pay rise if he continues what he's been doing this season, and I really hope Ashley sees that and offers him a decent deal.
-
You might be right. I just though the intention was always to give him a short contract and renew/not in Jan. I'm probably giving Ashley too much credit!

I agree, also for the simple fact that this is a very rare chance to get a player of top quality. Although I've agreed with our sensible buying policy recently, I think this is a chance to make an exception and really reap the rewards. He's potentially a £10m-£20m player if he fulfils his potential.

The recent Chelsea cup game was class... I know it wasn't significant but we turned up expecting a beating and the outcome was unbelievable with the team we put out.
-
Yeah, Hughes was one the stupidest sales we made.

Superb assist for Nolan as well, the movement from the corner was great and the header was composed. tbh judging by the way he wheeled off in celeb I think he was trying to score (and momentarily thought he did score) but the movement was top class alright Oh yeah, I'm not suggesting he specifically headed it directly onto Nolan's head... but he did really well to direct it back across the goal. Also, I never get tired of watching his second goal!
