I think some people need to realise what makes up a successful football team. It's not 11 Scott Parkers who run themselves into the ground for the cause. It's a good mix of Scott Parkers and a couple of Albert Luques. We need someone who has talent, technique and vision, as well as an eye for goal as he has. True, I haven't seen enough to truly judge yet, but I bet if he had had a few of those chances Duffer wasted against Charlton we'd have won that game.

Like I've said in other threads, fair enough some fans were calling for Roeder. But Shepherd isn't supposed to just appoint whoever the fans ask for just because it's popular, he's supposed to know better than us and do what is right for the club. Any numpty can listen to what the fans are chanting and give them the job. His popularist moves are a symptom of the fact he just wants to appease the fans in the short term each time and maintain his own position.

For this season, considering the position we're in at this moment, what would everyone be 'happy' with come the end of the season? Still europe, or would just staying up now be a massive relief?

To be fair to the fans, we can say what we like about who we wanted to be manager, but it's always up to the chairman to make what he believes is the right appointment regardless of popular opinion. That's why he's on millions a year - the fact that the fans wanted GR is beside the point. FS is incapable of making these crunch decisions, except to pacify the public in the short term and thus maintain his own position. Therefore he's got to go ASAP.

I've always been one of the optimists, but we've been throwing away points in a frightening way recently. It's definitely a possibility. With a manager who does things like dropping Martins after he'd hit 2 great goals, switching Ramage back to LB even when he'd been great at CB, never giving Luque a chance despite us having zero creativity etc etc - and a chairman who has too many things wrong to list, we'd have to consider ourslelves lucky if we're still in the Premiership this time next season.

Not sure we should be getting too interested in the Championship, don't want to tempt fate bluesigh.gif
