There are reasons to like this signing and reasons to wish he was someone better. Long term I’m sure we won’t be signing people like this, but overall there are more reasons to like the move for me.

Yeah, it’s a very difficult time to buy players, even for top clubs. If anything I’m impressed that they can be ambitious and practical at the same time. Better to get Wood done while you can than pursue other elite targets and miss out.

It’s the timing that’s critical here. It’s a release clause, Burnley can’t say no, or delay it. We’re desperate for the next few games. It’s not an exciting bet but it’s one they need to make for now.

This is my main view TBH, Burnley fucked up here. They’d never be letting him come if they had any choice.
