Allan Saint-Maximin (now playing for Fenerbahce, on loan from Al-Ahli)

FWIW I think ASM has the potential to adapt his game still, he’s fairly young. He spent his newcastle career being specifically told to do everything on his own. -
Leeds United vs. Newcastle United: 22/01/2022 @ 3pm (No UK TV)

In theory we have a chance of beating Leeds. But practically, I don’t see how we keep a clean sheet or score more than one, therefore we probably won’t. -
Could be the worst in the top two divisions TBH.
-
Only negative with Dummett is that he doesn’t pose any attacking threat, so he passes the ball up the line to ASM who is triple marked. Still worth it for his defensive ability though.
-
It almost looked to me like they’d been told not to go too direct just because Wood was playing. That always happened with Carroll. Also we don’t have many players who can cross.
-
Who should play though? We know we’re out there bidding for loads of CBs. The squad is dire.
-
So did I
-
Is that true, or is it mistakes and bad quality throwing away what the manager wants?
-
Tiredness was massive IMO. We know Longstaff, Dummett, Shelvey and ASM are basically on their backs after about 65 minutes.
-
The optimistic thing is how terrible Watford look. But we only look a tiny bit better. Three or four signings before Everton maybe gives us a chance. But it’ll be difficult to improve our attacking output and fix the defence at the same time.
-
I went to half time thinking we were doing pretty well, but just with the worry that we never look like scoring very often. Watford were pretty terrible. When we scored that feeling really continued, that we deserved it but we wouldn’t get a second. I didn’t necessarily think Watford would score but it was always a possibility. I think overall we were the better team, albeit with the usual negatives.
-
Problem is all the options are terrible.
-
He was, more of the question is how we’re going to supply him. Or supply anyone for that matter.
-
Shocking, must never been seen again. PS he also has nobody in front of home to offer any protection.
-
Course you can, as long as you take the quality of it into account.
-
Ideally yeah, could maybe get away with it if we didn’t look so vulnerable all the time.
-
An LB, CB and CM then maybe. Replace them today and we probably win.
-
All of those years were under Mike Ashley TBF.
-
Think he did what he does fairly well, but he didn’t get any decent service that would allow him to threaten to score. Not sure what the plan was with that. That said, it did unsettle Watford that we had someone to aim for and it did seem to encourage some of our players to play more dangerous passes.
-
About an 8.5. Wonder if they might decide to shelve their transfer plans now and just save the money for promotion.

It’s not just his voice.

Trippier is more than capable of playing LB, all I meant was that it might reduce his supply of crosses to Wood. -

He only has to be better than Ritchie though, doesn’t seem like that big a risk. -

Not sure I would move Trippier after we just signed Wood though. Has to be one of your best hopes of scoring.
