def chris waugh Mikel Antia (First-Team Coach) Benitez is renowned for returning to players and coaching staff who have served him well in the past - he appointed Boudewijn Zenden at Chelsea and retained former assistant Pako Ayestaran’s services for 11 years - and he has done likewise with Antia. And, though his surname may simply be an anagram of Vurnon Anita, no he is not a relative of United’s Dutch midfielder. While Benitez was manager of Real Madrid’s ‘B’ side in the early-1990s - and even before that during his work with the academy - Antia was a reliable centre-back.

lee ryder i think. sure it was vurnon anita and mikel antia the coach?
-
if he's good enough for dortmund - he's good enough for us.
-
its the store , not adidas.
-
never gets old that one. was it Lee or one of the other divvies?

you said eddie make the same changes no matter what is happening on the pitch. but then you say "unless such and such happens". and what you said about eddie and foden. come on, thats not true at all.
-
first bit of that is often true - we have a game plan and its often like for like attacking subs to give us some fresh impetus and to give the opposition something to think about. but that second bit isnt at all. eddie would have changed both wingers yesterday and replaced them with fresh legs and pace. saka was only fit enough for 45 minututes so either should have been replaced at half time or not started and brought on in the second half if we were struggling.
-
hope so . but 3. they'd been drilled to play that way. second nature to them. 4. its taken him 6 years and we are using the same formula.
-
stuart pearce called for him to subbed for eze after 29 minutes
-
luckily it will be years before we find out.
-
a little but also about being played out of position
-
i get that but its more that we didnt even try to put the game to bed. we have a squad full of quality. and thats what its been like for 6 years. croatia, italy, and even france .... southgate didnt really go for it. the games you listed, the coaches werent sitting back trying to grind out a win or a draw.
-
eddie often gets criticiscm for his subs, but more often than not he'll replace the forwards to give us a "second wind". southgate take note.
-
i was agreeing with you.
-
risks a late equaliser and little time to respond.
-
i know but i cant help it when i see him strutting his stuff.

Southgate just doesnt learn or develop as a manager. protect a 1-0 , rather than try and go get a second. its not as though we were playing a pacy counter attacking team. play foden in his best position or dont play him at all. its like scholes/lampard/gerrard all over gain but at least this time we have decent alternatives. saka was gassed by half time. desperate for a pair of fresh legs on both wings. and in gordon eze and palmer you've got 3 kids in form and full of self belief. we were crying out for gordon to replace foden on the left. just like against italy in the last final - we had so much talent on the bench they would have shit themselves had we brought them on. but we scraped a 1-0 so hopefully southgate lets the handbrake off now. glad lineker mentioned some of southgate's negative traits havent changed.

Fab have a canny game?
-
was supermac the greatest striker we've had? we had him at his peak.
-
there's money, then there's Riyals.
-
ah howay now. back off. @Ronaldo has been really canny since he's been back. still miss the old version. that one single comment about Beckford... bet he chuckles to himself about it now.
-
think the FA tried but Musiala opted for Germany.
-
why no ryan fraser? he fall out with clarke?
-
really cant remember that! can we get it back?
