Come to Butt-head.

I've got this book already, it's just getting round to reading it that's all. Anybody read An Englishman Abroad? I've got that as well and that was an excellent read like.

What would be the point of saying something? The player threads on here are a mix of this: 'He's said nothing, he's a disgrace, doesn't care about the fans!' and 'I wish he'd just shut up with these empty promises and let his football do the talking!' He should have stepped forward as Club Captain, not only off the pitch but on it as well, he couldn't motivate himself or his team mates, he went missing and as Club Captain that's a disgrace. And he would've been slagged of by most for doing so IMO, it's no win for players in a losing team. Our club captain still hasn't had anything to say about our relegation, which is a f***ing joke. He would have been damned if he did, damned if he didn't really. If he'd came out and apologised or whatever, people would have slagged him off for his lack of form and said that what would he care he'd be gone anyway, and with him not saying owt, he's a disgrace for not talking about it. I haven't read any quotes from the Boro captain saying sorry, etc. If he was any type of club captain he would have gained the respect of the fans. He was only ever made club captain by Keegan to stroke his ego. He was, and is, a useless motivator on and off the pitch and couldn't motivate jelly to set. Shearer was a s*** captain as well. Jesus f***ing Christ!

It's like that episode of Father Ted.

Because when you're one of the first to come out and say you want to leave a club who gave you a chance it comes across as if he's saying thanks for doing me a favour but you're on your own if you go down, there's no way I'm playing in that league. It's kind of similar to Chimbonda's attitude with Wigan in a way, minus the relegation of course. He definately deserves a better contract as he's no doubt earned that over the season however.
-
I have no idea but I'm sure once all this takeover nonsense is sorted then we'd offer him one if he were to stay as there were mumblings about Shearer wanting to keep him should he be given the job.
-
...and would you let them go because you think someone else as good will come along again? Your argument doesn't make sense. I already said I think he's being disloyal and should play out his contract but just because he's gonna be leaving doesn't mean we won't find another good player. Whats wrong with that? Are you suggesting Duff, Smith, Geremi, Colo, Barton, Ameobi and any other waste of space should stay as well? Or is loyalty only applicable to players the fans like? Bassong is in a different position to them. None of them were youngsters plucked from obscurity and given a good run in the first team were they? They're already established players man. The fact is he's still young it's not like he should automatically play in the Premiership just because of one good season is it? Bottom line is we won't keep him whether we want to or not because Ashley the fat c*** will sell him but I just don't like how he's one of the first players to come out and say that he wants to join a Premiership side, like he's bigger than our club or something. Also, I don't recall ANY of the players you mentioned besides Colo I think saying they want to leave, they all want to stay and help the club. Bassong is in demand because he's young, performing well and on low wages. How many players on our books fit that descripition? Are any of our old, under-performing high earners in demand? No...because they are s***. And if you think it will be easy to find another Bassong you obviously haven't seen many of our recent CB purchaes over the years. I never said anything about it being easy, I just said that we will, whenever that may be. Also our older players may be shit but the sad thing is they could still end up at Premiership clubs because of where they used to play. Seriously I don't understand how people can just shrug their shoulders at this kind of attitude from Bassong.

So a fee has been agreed for Derbyshire to go to Olympiakos I see. Really good move for him considering he got 11 goals there since January, winning a league and cup, plus he gets to play in the champions league. Makes you wonder why more Englishmen don't try their luck overseas.

By leaving a relegated club he has shown his true colours.. jeez. It's like we developed him from a child, some of the responses on this board. And I think developed him from a child is a bit OTT He's a young lad who came from obscurity and was given a chance to shine rather than spend a year edging his way in from the bench, and for him to be the first player to say he wants out is pretty disloyal if you ask me.
-
well people go on like we'll never sign a good player again man ffs.
-
Anyone else think Ronaldo looks like some kind of transvestite fortune teller in that shirt?
-
Not the end of the world, we'll find another one. If he wants to go then sod him. We showed faith in him and he's shown his true colours.

Zola didn't have the best of runs during his first 8 games in charge if I remember correctly and he's turned out pretty decent.
-
Because it potentially weakened this club. Can I ask who did Shearer impress by agreeing with the ref and what benefit that brought this club? So he should have moaned on like that cunt Kinnear would have, even though it was a blatant sending off? If a decision is clearly right, then it is clearly right and moaning on about it would have just gotten us more negative press considering it was Barton of all people. When you have about 4 games left to save your club and one of your players does what Barton did there are more important things to worry about than making yourself look like a prat by moaning on about something which was actually justified.

Ah ok, Svensson was the one I meant then. I'd like to see someone like him here, young, full of energy and capable of goals like that.
-
 What a quality thread.
-
Oh my bad. I thought he was the same one who scored that screamer as well, must have just got them mixed up. How's Toivonen done at PSV?
-
It's nice to see the bastard isn't in as much demand as he thinks he is. Hope he buggers off from here and nobody signs him.
-
Some fantastic goals in that Sweden game like. That midfielder who set up Berg's goal with that chip looks a decent player.

Sensible planning is a very important attribute but it's no good planning for the future if you have no balance with the short-term as it's just words otherwise, you have to take action to actually be able to get there first. This is what ultimately took us down in the end as like it's been said, once his "plan" went balls up he jumped from one crazy idea to the next in the hope that it would give us some breathing space and we'd then forget everything that had gone on. Placing a person with the pull that Wise had in the system was never going to fly with a manager like Keegan who has his own mind and vision and not many others would accept it, no matter who the DOF is. The only person who should be in charge of buying players is the manager, bottom line because they have to take the heat if it doesn't work out and ultimately lose their job.

This style would have been decent for Ajax http://www.uksoccershop.com/images/6343.jpg Loved this shirt
