  1. That's quite lot of money fro Spurs to spend on one player, especially when you consider the 'success' of Darren Bent. Just a hunch, but i bet they've already agreed the sale of Berbatov, just keeping it private for now.
  2. Can you imaging Mr Fallows trying to prove his worth to KK? KK "So what do you do then Dave?" DF "Oh, er, i watch videos, yeah, like this you see?" KK "Yeah i think i do...and people have the nerve to call Terry useless" DF "Don't worry, my wages are paid for by the nash, please don't sack me!" Even though we have immediately appointed a replacement? Mike Crompton - DVD analyst. 'right then lads, there will be blood's coming out soon, thats pretty good, its all based around daniel day lewis, and he won the oscar for best actor for it so its a pretty safe bet. best film went to the ridiculosuly over-rated no country for old men, to be honest i think the academy just thought they'd better give an award to the coen brothers for making good films for so long, its good like, but i enjoyed reading the book a lot more, anyway the dvd's out soon. steven, alvin and the chipmunks has just come out, only 12.99 at hmv, even you can afford that and its right up your street'
  3. Because he left circa 1999. For some reason i read the OP as saying 'in the last 15 years', sorry!
  4. Why isn't 'Pamela' Anderson on that list?
  5. I don't think he was a 4-4-2 player due to his lack of pace, especially in the middle. If he had a couple of players around him doing the donkey work, that would have suited him better. Hell of a left-foot on him though. Yeah, I agree there and he wasn't a big strong type either so playing in the middle of a 4-4-2 was even more of a problem when he wasn't pacey or box-to-box type either. I think you could have played him as a deep lying playmaker or in a more advance role in a midfield 3/5. Either way though you'd have to question 1) Why Robson bought him 2) why he wouldn't give him a chance when Jenas was out of form (for several months) & 3) why he wouldn't let him move on sooner. Funnily enough, I think he could have done quite well in Owen's current role. I'm not sure Viana would be making late runs into the box to try and sniff out a goal though.
  6. Fair enough you know your team better than us, but looking from the outside, your lack of punch in the box is obvious. A player like Torres would do wonders for you They need a better back up than Senderos too. They also seem strangely low on wingers, having to make do with Eboue on the right and Rosicky or Diabe on the left. Still a bloody good team though, wish we had their troubles tbh.
  7. TBH, I think he's always over-complicated matters in the league. He always sets out to tactically neutralise the opposition, regardless of how s**** they are. This season he finally admitted that tactics don't work in the Prem against teams who just want to battle and hoof it, so hopefully he'll make a signing or two with that in mind in the summer and set out his stall accordingly next season. So you HONESTLY believe they lost the champions league game and the premiership because of injuries and nothing else? Ok lets take a look at it, Diaby = Wouldnt have been in the first 11 Denilson = Wouldnt have been in the first 11 Eduardo = Wouldnt have been in the first 11 Rosicky = First 11 Van Persie = First 11 So they lost an Attacking midfielder/lm and a 2nd choice striker from their usual starting 11. Near enough every other premiership team can complain about the exact same thing tbh Wenger's first eleven are all knackered. Thing is, Arsenal have 35 players in their squad. Thirty-five! How can none of them be good enough? Why are none of your players good enough in the prem?
  8. Not really, the competition has been quite intense these last couple of seasons and only one of the so called big 4 can win it. It´s not so much his inability to win the Premiership in my opinion, it´s the fact he hasn´t even got close. As a matter of fact, they are turning into a perrenial 4th place place team, slipping away from the big 3 and getting caught up by the likes of Everton. Have to admit he is an excellent cup manager however, going by results of course.. I was taking issue with the fact that his main target, the Premiership title, is consistently out of his reach, yet it's almost an afterthought the way it's mentioned as a failing. "One of the game's great coaches" should surely have won it by now with the resources available or at the very least he should be getting somewhere close to winning it whilst showing real signs of progression each year. As you say, he isn't anywhere close though. That's a pretty big failing. He's playing catchup against rivals with many years' head start or a squad worth twice as much. We've made massive progress under him. The squad is very solid, our reserves just won the Reserves North league, our youth side won the previous two FA Youth Cups (and they were all in a very bad shape when he arrived), so Rafa has built the foundations. We need a couple more baubles like Torres, a couple more match-winners, to mount a serious challenge. Of course, we've been needing them for quite a while, now. Frankly, anyone who's not happy with two CL final appearances in including one win, plus an FA Cup and a couple of other odds and sods in three seasons, given where Rafa started, needs their head looking at. http://www.newcastle-online.com/nufcforum/index.php?topic=48415.msg1208074#msg1208074 Looks like you've out spent everyone except Chelsea so i'm not sure who these other teams (apart from Chelsea) whose squads are worth twice yours. Sounds like bollox tbh. Rafa's done very very well in Yurope, yet to look remotely like title challengers though.
  9. I am puzzled why Wenger didn't buy another CB during the last 2 windows, actually. Senderos isn't up to it and he's had ample time to see that.
  10. You keep saying that often enough but I still don't think anyone believes you. Shola's probably the only on who said it. oh I don't think so Alex. I remember it clearly, and I suspect that you do too. No I don't. The best thing 'the vast majority' has ever said about Shola is that he looked alright when we got to 7th under Roeder. By all means dig up the dozens of quotes you must remember saying he was 'the new Shearer' though. I suspect you'll say you can't be bothered thats right, I can't be bothered, it may also be on the old server. I also know that what I say is true, although I realise you may not like it even though I don't know why not as I don't think you did. In fact Alex, the only person who appears to have the time and the sad inclination to rake through hundreds of old posts by people is your little mate Baggy. What's your problem with my liking Baggio exactly? You've mentioned that several times of late. I think he's a canny poster, aye. It doesn't follow that I dislike you just because you two don't get on. calling it as I see it Alex. I find it a bit sad that people go digging up old posts, ref your comment that "I wouldn't be bothered" thats right, I can't be bothered. f****** hell man Steve, that was a joke anyway, I even put a wink on the end. I genuinely don't remember the 'vast majority' (your words) saying Shola was the next Alan Shearer though. I really don't believe anyone did tbh. Nothing wrong with having big expectations of Taylor a couple of years ago (despite my teasing), he looked more promising then tbf. Taylor might come good, you never know. We all hope so because it's great to have someone out of academy doing well. This argument is all about something else tbh.
  11. Apart from the fact Smith & Duff dont start. Also we have better players than them two in there positions. I dont think we have any better centre backs than Taylor & Faye. My view is just like Smith and Duff were rated way above their contribution, so is Taylor. I am pretty sure Cacapa would dovetail nicely with Faye, as would Rozenhal IMO. I think they lack the strength tbh. Better players then Taylor atm but they seem a bit weak.

As anyone ever suggested Taylor would be England captain one day?
  13. Who were both s***. Didn't think Veloso was tbh. Moved the ball around well. Not a great physical presence in front of the back 4 though. Bit like Carrick imo.
  14. Ronaldo's run when he was at Barca, went through defenders like a knife through butter. Also Ronaldo's moving the ball around with one foot while playing for Inter. George Weah taking the ball from his own box while playing for AC Milan, running the length of the pitch and scoring.
  15. Admire Taylor's commitment on the pitch, hasn't got a bad turn of pace either. Always looks lost when the ball goes wide though imo. Not very good at marking. Not a leader (may become one but i doubt it), would do ok next to a better player, obviously. Worth keeping because he cost nowt and he'll always try his best. Might come good in time.
  16. Lennon's got about much strength in his foot as Dyer. If we're going to buy a winger i'd like it to be one who can get the ball more than 2 foot of the ground, helps beat the first man imo.
  17. Lotus

    Emre

Think he got the spunge treatment first though, tbf...
  18. Not saying he's realistic but i reckon he would light the place up... Jeremy Menez
  19. In what way? Malbranque had too much time and space on the ball, but then he put in a brilliant cross and Bent's finish was outstanding. I was refering to the 7-1 game.......Kinaldo put up the link a post or 2 earlier.
  20. Conceivably we may need 4 midf's and a target man. Proper CB as well before we consider FB's. The only important thing is that the players are good enough not how much they cost, not ALWAYS a direct correlation. KK will need a bit of luck in the transfer market tbh, even if you have the money to buy the player you want, there's other factors.
  21. Horrible watching Thommo decorate the underside of the table when they scored (on SSN). Hope the Arse ruin them tbh.
  22. Tbf, that's not the best to qualify it though is it?
  23. Milner is another one - great attitude like Smith and Duff, but end product generally zilch. It's no coincidence we have started scoring goals since that trio are out the of team. Correct. Milner should be used in the middle anyways, when we have to call upon him. I've thought about this. I compared him to Scholes (which is unfair, i know). If PS played on the wing he wouldn't be very effective, no real pace and not a good dribbler. Strikes the ball very very well though, is good under pressure and makes excellent decisions. Tbh, haven't seen JM show any of those qualities.
