  1. I think I might have to turn it off. I am absolutely shitting my pants. Shitting it.
  2. In what kind of world do profits from player sales get excluded, though? It's like saying "well, without her breasts, she'd be an absolute munter". It is almost all money loaned to Lerner, in any case, and they halved the losses according to these figures. In the world where you cant include them more than once. You cant assume player sales will keep you afloat forever, our losses didnt cease to happen overnight so i assume you will post similar figures should you go down? How long before Randy says 'fuck this shit'? Spent around 10 years with the arse end of the NFL at the Cleveland Browns, but he left as soon as he could. I think he's said fuck it already, look where our cost cutting has landed us. I'd imagine your figures were helped enormously by selling one player for £35m. I honestly think that's the best piece of business ever. re selling players to get the figures looking nicer, our problem was that too many relics bought by MON sucked their contracts dry and walked out for nowt. Cuellar, Reo-Coker, Beye, Heskey, the likes of them. The difference between us and, say, Spurs, is that Spurs maintain the quality and value of their squad cleverly over a period of time. We have been the precise opposite, and it is that which has contributed most to where we are now.

  4. FWIW I know there is still a lot of ill feeling after our relegation day at Villa Park, but I reckon a similar thing could have happened elsewhere too and that many Villa fans didn't join in. I've always had a soft spot for Villa and I hope if anyone down there survives it's you lot. Cheers, mate. To be entirely honest, if we do go down, it will be our own fault. All we needed in January was a bit of experience at CB, and we didn't get it. Mistifying.
  5. I certainly would not write Sunderland out of this yet. MON / March. Not a happy combination.
  6. I don't think I will be able to put up with the aural creamery of Tyldesley and co, so I might have to watch it with my headphones on, blasting exceptionally loud krautrock into my brain.
  7. Oh, and our last game of the season? Wigan away. I shall say no more. Mostly because I start to fill my pants just thinking about the possibilities there.
  8. That's my worry. Sooner or later we have to start getting better results. Our next two matches are Reading away and QPR (who I think are doomed) at home. If we win those two, then I think the momentum will see us ok. Win one, draw one, and we'll still be ok. Anything less and we are screwed. I am still backing Lambert, though. I had hoped we'd be able to disinfect the club entirely without going down in the process, but I suspect we may have to go down first. It is remarkable how much good will he still has. There's barely a bad word said against him from the supporters.

    Papiss Cissé

That's debatable tbh. I don't know enough about Cisse to have an opinion on that, but I will say that Benteke works really hard for the team, and always puts a decent shift in. Something that Bent never really does, hence him not getting much time on the pitch.

    Football pet hates

A new one? There are so many possible pet hates in that picture . Honestly, if I started listing all the things I hate about that picture, I'd still be going come Friday morning.

    sunderland

I love it when brummie pops up and predicts the future for them down the road Not a prediction, really, just a reflection that he traditionally has an awful march, as the players he's played all season, week in, week out are knackered.

I think they will lose at qpr- then Norwich is massive, they will then lose to man utd and chelsea- possible 4 defeats on the trot, could put them in serious trouble by the time we play them. They're certainly far from safe, and if his March hoodoo turns out to have persisted (and your suggested results are entirely possible) then they could quite easily get dragged into it.
  13. I admit, it is hypocritical for me to moan about the huge amounts of money that gets chucked at some clubs, when for four years recently, we spent more money on transfers than 90 percent of clubs in the league. Slight ramble, but I was in a low-grade card shop the other day, here in Warwickshire, and they had this display of revoltingly garish football club calendars. They had Liverpool, Man United and Man City. Now, call me cynical, but I imagine, say, four years ago even, you'd have to travel at least 80 miles north to find anywhere selling Manchester City merchandise. That's no longer the case. I walk around my local towns and frequently see people wearing Man City shirts / scarves / yada yada whatever. I would imagine that a few years ago, these people would probably have latched on to Man United. Then again, I live a 15 mins drive from Coventry, and when I walk around, say, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Stratford Upon Avon, places which (esp the first two) you'd expect to be in the natural orbit of Coventry City, I never, ever see people wearing Coventry shirts or scarves. Literally, never. But I very frequently see people wearing Villa colours. Also, I very frequently see a lot of other Villa fans getting on the train down here when I take public transport to matches. Were I a Coventry City fan, this would annoy the shit out of me, in the same way Man City fans annoy me now. I guess, the lower down the pyramid you go, the larger the choice of teams more successful to which plastics can attach themselves (even teams who haven't won anything for years). I sometimes think football is just cyclical. We are currently in a period of being shit, but it won't be too long before we have a decent period again. The same goes for Newcastle, Spurs, Everton etc etc, lots of clubs. What won't change, though, is the fact that to really consistently do well and win stuff (Man United are a slight exception here), you need a rich sugar daddy. Spurs getting into the CL this year won't be enough, they need to do it year after year. See also, Everton, when they made it. The FFP stuff, if you actually look at it, looks more like a bunch of measures made to defend the status quo, rather than encourage challenges to it.

I see it is March. Martin never wins matches in March.
  15. Was thinking that myself. When was he last on/posting? I'm here. I've had lots of other non-football related stuff going on, but think I have emerged from it relatively unscathed.
  16. That was Villa-esque, conceding from a 94th minute corner.
  17. Honestly, if you lose this one, you're utterly doomed. You're playing a club which is collapsing from within. The fans have lost faith in the owner, in the team, and have seen their side win a handful of matches in one entire calendar year. It's horrible. The strongest bond remaining is probably between fans and manager - strangely, considering - but confidence is at an all time low. I didn't renew my ST this year (finances), and got offered a free ticket for this one, but turned it down. I can't face it. I am not even going to follow on the internet, I am going to turn off my phone and pretend it isn't happening. I am, in short, broken.
  18. Of course, I do, but I won't be holding my breath. I'd actually settle for him catching a ferry out to Majorca and getting torpedoed in the Med. Anything so long as I don't have to watch him at Villa Park ever, ever again.
  19. Alan Hutton has gone to Real Mallorca on loan. They're having an official presentation of him to the fans tomorrow evening. I'm going to watch it on their website. I'd assume the people of Majorca are used to neanderthal, pissed up British skinheads, so it'll be love at first sight. I am hoping and praying Mallorca's next game against Barcelona is on the telly. I'll buy extra popcorn for that one.
  20. Until about five weeks ago, we weren't, in fact we weren't even near to being the worst side in the league. In the period since then, we have been the worst side in the league by an absolute mile.
  21. At least you are doing something about your plight and getting decent players in. If Pardew then can't improve things, then you have to wonder if he deserves to be in the job. Our manager, on the other hand, is getting no support, and the team is sinking fast. If you can't profit from our current mental state, then really, you'd have to be truly poor.
  22. We are doing a carbon copy of you in your relegation year. We will probably now sack Lambert and appoint Tony Morley or something fucking stupid. I am without words. I genuinely don't think I can care any more. The club is getting torn apart, there was a decent amount of support for the manager, but the support for the chairman is absolutely zero.
  23. Not if you don't get them the ball, they won't. We are utterly pathetic and getting worse by the game. We're even worse at home, you're right there. If you can't beat us, with maybe a couple of your new signings in place, then I genuinely fear you'll be heading the same place we are. The last week has just been the icing of pure, dessicated dog shit on a cake of vomit.
  24. Worse than us? Truly dreadful. Honestly, we are shocking. In the space of five weeks, I have lost all faith in the chairman, and am pretty much at breaking point with the manager. We are pathetic. We are not only going to get relegated, we will finish bottom. I am aware how shit you have been of late, I have seen some of your matches, and really, right now, I'd back Sandwell and District Paper Boys XI to cause us havoc at set pieces. Honestly, I am so angry right now, I could punch a hole in the fucking wall. I have known some terrible Villa sides, but the last five or six weeks or so is the worst spell of utter, utter shite I have ever seen. It is pathetic. Not only that, we are now getting the crowd turning on the team. 2,000 of them trekked to fucking Milwall tonight to be subjected to that shite, at the end of the game, the players come to applaud the fans, the fans apparently waved them away. It's utterly, utterly wretched.
  25. Villa have been conceding goals for fun from set pieces this season. Cabaye really needs to find his form for set piece delivery in this match, or at least leave it for Anita. I am not really exaggerating much when I say that a corner against us is as good as a penalty. It is all about scoring against us. When we played West Brom last week, we were brilliant in the first half. We then took a two goal lead, came out for the second, conceded early and utterly fell apart. There's a good team there, but they're mostly young kids, and their confidence has taken a huge kicking. It doesn't take much to make it collapse. That's why that article is so infuriating. If we got in a CB with a bit of nous, and a hard working defensive midfielder, that team would improve exponentially. Every fucker can see it. Except the chairman. It wouldn't even take huge money, 8m or so the pair if we chose correctly.
