2 - 1 to Chelsea at half time. Apart from the money I bet Lukaku regrets moving to Chelsea.
-
Any news on where he was today? Not even being on the bench suggests he has an injury.
-
Pardew acknowledges we aren't firing on all cylinders but there's not much he can do personnel wise to change it. With the injuries we've got we haven't got the squad depth to freshen the team. Williamson (since S.Taylor's injury), Coloccini, Simpson, Ba and Gutierrez have played just about every game they've been available for. The only rotation has really been in midfield when Perch and Guthrie have come in for injured or suspended Cabaye and Tiote. If a first team player is out of form we pretty much have to keep playing them.
-
I sit in the Gallowgate. After Williamson's dithering incident, the next time he got the ball he got a big cheer from the crowd for dealing with it properly. I don't agree that everyone was on his back. He got a rocket for his balls up but support after that.

I think the good performances earlier in the season were a final push toward claiming a first team place. Its clear he's given up on that now and the Wolves performance was down to that imo. It's a shame like, and it doesn't bode particularly well for today coz we need him..... One poor game doesn't mean he's given up. He was awful against West Brom last season but this season he's usually been good when called on. He needs to play well for us if he's trying to attract another club.
-
As long as Sunderland don't make the final I don't care. If they make the semis and lose then good as they'll have had to play three games (replay then two leg semi) for nothing.
-
aye no clou but didnt know that the best supports always have empty seats in soshyte I also can't make out what they sing instead of "United"?
-
I hear the Mackems have stolen heavily from our song book. What are they singing instead of "Geordie"?

With Ba and Cisse likely to be away at the African Cup of Nations in 2013 we need a new striker who isn't African.
-
Peter Lovenkrands and Alan Smith will definitely leave. There's a good chance Danny Guthrie and Fraser Forster will leave too. Of those players only Guthrie would need to be replaced with a player competing for a first team start. The Development squad will need to be restocked following the youth team clear out.

Steve Harper's contract ends in June 2013. He isn't getting games any more and he has had knee problems which have required surgery this season. By the fact he asked to go out on loan you'd assume he'd want to leave to get games elsewhere. Would he want to stay and move into coaching? Danny Guthrie's contract ends in June 2012. NUFC probably want to keep him as a squad player. He probably wants to go somewhere else where he would get more regular starts. Peter Lovenkrands' contract ends in June 2012. He hasn't played many games this season and his season is now over due to a bad thigh injury. It's highly unlikely that NUFC would want to keep him and he probably wants to leave to get game time. Alan Smith's contract ends in June 2012. NUFC are counting down the days to the end of his contract. Leon Best's contract ends in June 2013. Rumours NUFC were willing to sell him in January. I would think NUFC would sell him if they get an acceptable offer. James Perch's contract ends in June 2014. I imagine NUFC would sell if they get an acceptable offer. He wants more game time so he would probably be happy to leave. Nile Ranger's contract ends in June 2016. NUFC would be happy to sell him. Xisco's contract ends in June 2013. NUFC would be happy to sell him/give him away to get his wages off the books. NUFC will probably be stuck with loaning him out for the last year of his contract. Fraser Forster's contract ends in June 2014. Apparently part of his loan deal to Celtic includes a £2m option to buy him. The move depends on Forster accepting terms with Celtic. Danny Simpson's contract ends in June 2013. He has been offered a new contract but hasn't signed it. NUFC would sell him rather than lose him on a free transfer. Rob Elliot's contract ends in June 2016. NUFC don't seem convinced by him. Also, a large number of the youth team has been told to find a new club as they aren't being offered new contracts. Even without selling any of our first team players it would seem that it will be a busy Summer for player transfers. We seem very unlucky with injuries. We can barely play a game at senior, reserve or youth team level without someone getting injured.
-
Shola should mainly be used as an impact sub. He doesn't seem to play that well when he starts games (except for the 3 - 0 against Man U). The games he's come on for the last 20 minutes or so he's done well in (e.g. at home to Tottenham and Sunderland).
-
If he ever gets a testimonial the opposition should be Sunderland.
-
Good performance from him today. We came alive in the second half. Hopefully he'll get a run in the team now.
-
Shola "Ah fookin hate Sunderland Me" Ameobi. Why didn't he take the penalty? He always takes the penalties! Great cameo. He held the ball up (which Cisse and Ba weren't doing), won a penalty and scored the goal. Someone should photoshop Pardew breaking the glass on the "In case of Derby break glass" picture.
-
The main reason Ba had a quiet game by his standards was that he was fouled by the Wolves defenders every time he received the ball. The ref did nothing each time.

Heh? If Cardiff win any chance of 7th, where we are quite likely to finish, being good enough for Europe is gone (will go to Cardiff).. And if Liverpool win and we finish 6th? Wouldn't affect our chances I don't think. Would be dependent on the FA Cup finalists.. That's how I understood it anyway.. For us to finish 7th and qualify for Europe it'd need Liverpool to win today and finish above us and one of Chelsea, Liverpool or Spurs to win the FA cup and finish above us. If Man U or Man City won the Europa cup I think that would give another European place to the Premiership too. First I've heard of it. Source? I'm pretty sure I remember reading it recently (possibly when Man U and City dropped into the Europa league). It always seems to be quite difficult to find an exact rule on how European places go to the Premiership (outside of the top 4 qualifying for the Champions League and 5th qualifying for the Europa league). The League cup: - The winners qualify for the UEFA Europa League, unless they have qualified for the Champions League through their league position, in which case the Europa League berth goes to the highest-placed team from the Premier League not already qualified for Europe. Europa Cup: - The winner of the UEFA Europa League qualifies for the UEFA Super Cup. The FA cup: - As well as being presented with the trophy, the winning team also qualifies for the UEFA Europa League (formerly named the UEFA Cup). If the winners have already qualified for the UEFA Champions League via the Premier League, the UEFA Europa League place goes to the FA Cup runners-up. If the winners have also qualified for the Europa League through finishing fifth in the Premier League, the FA Cup runners-up do not qualify, with the sixth placed team in the league receiving the Europa League place. If the runners-up have also qualified for the UEFA Champions League or are not entitled to play in UEFA competitions for any reason, the place goes to the next highest placed finisher in the league table. The FA Cup winners also qualify for the single-match FA Community Shield against the Premier League Champions.

Yohan Cabaye (now sporting coordinator at Paris Saint-Germain)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to a topic in Football
He doesn't seem to be the creative midfielder I thought he was. He plays almost like a second defensive midfielder. He had a real purple patch season in the 2009 - 2010 season where he scored 13 League goals. Excluding that season, 3 or 4 league goals a season seems to be about his average. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yohan_Cabaye -
We shouldn't be relying on other teams. If we can't beat teams like Wolves at home then we don't really deserve to finish in the top 5. Neither Arsenal or Spurs beat Wolves at home... True. Yesterday was a s*** result but all teams drop points unexpectedly. Hopefully we won't have to rely on other team's results but I won't complain if they do us a favour. We've been in the top 7 all season. I'll be disappointed if we finish lower than 7th. Liverpool winning the cup could help us add another Europa cup position to the league. I'm also hoping Man U or Man City win the Europa cup and a team above us win the FA cup.

None of the results are going our way today and we have to hope that Liverpool win the cup.
