N'Zogbia was good for Wigan but hasn't done much so far at Aston Villa. Pienaar was good for Everton but hasn't done much so far at Tottenham Hotspur. Hoilett isn't guaranteed to be a huge hit where ever he goes to after Blackburn.

When is the download patch due for 'FIFA 12'?

I assume that 2 years means the 2012/2013 and 2013/2014 seasons? The rest of this season probably isn't counted as that was already paid for by Northern Rock. It's not like our shirt sponsor could expire in January 2014.

I wouldn't be happy with Branson buying NUFC as I doubt he'd own it for very long at all. His record seems to be, buy a company, keep it for a couple of years then sell the company. He made a big deal of getting into Formula 1. He bought a team, ran it on a low budget and then sold it after two years. The team were bottom of the constructors championship for those two years. I don't understand why Branson is viewed by a lot of people as some sort of benevolent man where everything he touches turns to gold. I'll be happy if Virgin Money pay sponsorship money to NUFC but I don't view Branson as some sort of Willy Wonka character like some people seem to. because he's very good in the media. (like alan sugar and kirstie allsopp, people think they are very good at their supposed profession because they are on the box talking about it without thinking that those making the progs want someone that fits the purpose for the prog as opposed to the best at the chosen business......even our governments are shallow enough to fall for it) You're right there. He does a lot of talking to make himself look good. I remember when he said he'd 'save' Concorde after British Airways said they were going to stop flying them as they were too expensive. What Branson didn't say in the media was that he offered to buy the Concorde planes off BA (Virgin Atlantic's hated rival) for £1.

BBC Radio Newcastle wondered if NUFC fans would have a problem with the Red and White on the shirt! We aren't that pathetic. We leave the boycotting of 'Sugar Puffs' and the like to the Mackems. Also, we used to have Red numbers on the back of the shirt without any complaints.

By the way, Richard Branson won't have a day to day involvement in Virgin Money. He's more of a figure head for the Virgin brand name.

Northern Rock's corporate box is now Virgin Money's corporate box. She actually said she'd try to be there. She's in London today. I'm not trying to piss on the parade but I'd wait before getting all excited about the idea of Virgin sponsoring the stadium, the shirts, etc.
-
I could see Virgin Money being on the shirt until the end of the season (afterall, Northern Rock have already paid until the end of this season). As for stadium naming rights and a long term shirt sponsor deal after that, I doubt it. Some of you may not know but Richard Branson doesn't own most of the Virgin brands. He sets them up and then tends to sell them. Virgin Atlantic and Galactic (his spaceship company) are his. I'm pretty certain he doesn't own Virgin Media any more. He doesn't own Virgin Records or V2 records. He sold the Virgin F1 team after two poor seasons. Virgin Money only put in around £50m of the £747m used to buy Northern Rock. £250m was put in by a Wall St investor. Richard Branson gets paid by companies which use the Virgin name. There is no way Richard Branson would buy NUFC.

Not if Sammy played well and we won/drew.

Guthrie seems to pick up a lot of injuries and Gosling hasn't had a good game for us yet.
-
I'll consider this to have been a good transfer window if we don't sell any of our best players.

Is Tranquillo Barnetta still injured? I think his current contract is due to expire this Summer. We could do with a winger. I saw him linked with Aston Villa a week or two ago.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/16380133.stm Garth Crooks's team of the week (also know as "Garth Crooks's list of players who scored at least one goal or kept a clean sheet this week"). What an arsehole Garth Crooks is.

I tend to find that's always the way with SKY. NUFC are always their 'enemy' team. If we play a team from lower in the table SKY want an upset, if we play a team from the top of the table SKY don't want us to hinder the other teams challenge. SKY commentators also like to mention rumours of other clubs coming in for our players. I wish there was a 'no commentary' option. As soon as Gerrard scored I turned the sound off as I knew what was coming.

if i see a team put out with intent, that looks like it has a coherent plan to win the game, i'm happy. i was happy during the Wigan game even before we scored, afterwards people were saying we were lucky to win it but i maintained that you can't win every week and our method of play had been consistent and a little bit of class made the difference (not to mention Ben Arfa's introduction making the difference, funny that) I freely accept that Wigan at home is a totally different kettle of fish to Liverpool away, but West Brom and Swansea at home was just as frustrating imo. Since Norwich we've completely given up playing football and Pardew's continued persistence with Obertan and Raylor is eye wateringly maddening. It's also worth noting how completely bereft of ideas we were against Bolton until.....Ben Arfa came on, we were terrible in that game. Our league position is fantastic, but we're only going in one direction under Pardew's current mindset, he needs to sort it out and that's been the case for months now, it's not a new development. We have a small squad. We can't really rotate it very much. When players aren't playing very well there aren't many options to change it. People seem to think Santon instead of R.Taylor and Ben Arfa instead of Obertan (or the second striker) will automatically mean we are a better team. I hope the theory is proved correct in practice.
-
When do we ever get anything from Liverpool away anyway? It's annoying to lose but if we have to lose I'd rather it was to the teams from the top 6. At the moment, with our budget, 7th is the best we can realistically finish.
-
True but it's also true that newspapers print any old shite, especially when the transfer window is open or about to open. I like it when the papers get a story right and they crow "We told you this would happen". They don't mention the other 90% of stories they printed which didn't happen.
-
Before people take a transfer story from 'The Sun' as fact, they have an accuracy rating of 22.9%. http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/newspaper_statistics.aspx *Figures are based on all rumours we have that have been resolved (player has transfered or signed a new contract). FTL rumour data goes back to the start of summer 2006 transfer window. Also, I thought a lot of people on here hated Elliot so I'd have thought they'd have been happy with a replacement for him.

February according to The Journal or The Chronicle a few weeks ago. It was the last sentence in a story unrelated to Guthrie. I remember thinking at the time that it is unfortunate he's out that long being that he was to be Tiote's cover. I would have been happy to give Guthrie a new contract but he does seem to get a lot of injuries.
