  1. If it doesn't come on Sunday I haven't had a highlight this season.
  2. I can't stand Shakespeare but I hope Shearer comes out with a modern version of this to the team on Sunday: - To paraphrase "He that has no stomach for this fight can leave. We would not want to fight in his company"
  3. http://www.nufc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10278~1661490,00.html So that's Beye and Bassong probably out, Owen and Enrique possibly fit.
  4. If you think of the season we've had it has to be seen as a miracle that we still have a chance of staying up.
  5. All games kick off at 4pm. If we manage to stay up I hope at the end of the game Dowie rips open his shirt to reveal a Superman T-shirt like Sloth did in 'The Goonies'.
  6. Mike Ashley for giving his full backing to all the wrong people. If he'd appointed a half decent manager as soon as Keegan left we wouldn't be where we are today. I do agree that players love an excuse not to perform though.
  7. I can't believe Setanta picked that game if it's true that they had third choice of what game to show.
  8. That's why it's great news that Sunderland lost yesterday. If Man U fail us there is a chance that Chelsea won't. Now 'all' we have to do is make sure we beat Aston villa.
  9. When all the players are waiting in the tunnel we need to have our players ask the Aston Villa player opposite them where are they going on their holiday. Get their minds off their game and on to their holiday!
  10. Trouble with that is what happens if we are holding on to a draw and then suddenly with 2 minutes to go things change elsewhere and we need a win?
  11. Put all the players' loved ones in a room and tell the team I'll execute them all if you don't win. A Winston Churchill / this is SPARTA / Lord of the Rings final battle / Rocky - type mega inspirational team talk is required. They better start like they are playing for their lives! Go in where it hurts, fight to the death type mentality is required.
  12. Because we'd be above them and that's all that matters to them.
  13. The pin prick of light in the darkness has now gone up to a glimmer. Dare to dream. Another result has gone our way. We'll have to throw everything at Aston Villa and hope it's enough. At least now there's 3 teams (4 if you count Middlesbrough) shitting it on the last day of the season. Sunderland now have a worse goal difference than Newcastle. That point against Fulham might have come in handy Howard Webb you bastard.
  14. Newcastle isn't a big club but half the country will be glued to their sets to watch us go down. The only consolation is that everyone involved with SKY will be shitting their pants at the prospects of mass monthly debit cancellations. Well you can't have it both ways...enjoy the show. Exactly. After being the Sky and Setanta Commentator's whipping boys for this season all of a sudden we may be their 'Man U of the Championship' if we go down. If we go down at least it will hit Sky, Setanta and all the opposition clubs who liked a full away end when they played us in the pocket.
  15. Love the hype in the press over "Benitez refusing to laud Ferguson". He congratulated Man U on winning but the media wanted him to "laud" Ferguson. Why the fuck should he? http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/l/liverpool/8054673.stm Newcastle once formed a guard of honour for Man U after they were crowned champions. It turned my stomach. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football-champions-celebrations-fall-flat-1260544.html
  16. I imagine Ronaldo is more interested in making sure he is fit to play in the Champion's League final than winning the golden boot (as nice as that would be for him).
  17. This is why we could really do with Portsmouth winning tonight. Chelsea look like they are still playing going by the win over Blackburn. Chelsea have an outside chance of getting second place. Man U can do what they want and no one can blame them. Portsmouth winning would give us an extra chance. We would still need to preferably beat Aston villa though. It's a pity they lost 5th place to Everton. They may be more up for the fight now.
  18. It boiled my piss to see him looking so happy watching 'his' team win. Why? At least he's not still here watching ours lose. He was supposed to be helping our club. Mike Ashley and his advisers decided Dennis Wise knew more about football than Kevin Keegan. To cut a long story short, Dennis left with his contract paid up and we're on the verge of being relegated.
  19. It boiled my piss to see him looking so happy watching 'his' team win.
  20. Some people were saying we had the easiest run. I'd rather play teams with nothing to play for over teams fighting for their lives or a European place. Yes.
  21. Maybe. Roy Keane didn't attract much quality to Sunderland. If we go down I think the days of NUFC coining in money from a 50,000+ crowd is over until the next time we are competing near the top of the Premiership (if we ever do).
  22. You're right, tbh. If we come straight back up, I don't think one season in the Championship would be the end of the world. If we come straight back up. I do think if we stay up Ashley will have learned his lesson and provide £20m + player sales money to Shearer. If we go down God knows what he'll do. If we go down and then come straight back up we'll still have lost our Premiership kudos and will struggle to attract good players. A season of fighting to stay up again would probably follow. We may have to build a decent, young, team to bring us up and then keep us up. A team of ageing players in the Championship aren't going to cut it if we're promoted. If we stay up at least we could aim to improve to mid-table next season. There is some bollocks in the media about "maybe it would be good for Newcastle if they went down so they could rebuild". I'd rather rebuild in the Premiership than in the Championship. The likes of West Brom, Middlesbrough, Hull and Sunderland would probably be able to keep most of their squad if they go down. We aren't like that at all.
  23. If Sunderland don't beat Portsmouth tomorrow. If they draw with them they could still stay up on goal difference. I was apathetic then we got our fate back in our hands. No longer having our fate in our hands and the way that makes me feel proves I'm not apathetic at the moment. I am going to hate the wait this week and then the emotional turmoil of next Sunday. I will be gutted if we go down. If we go down I may be apathetic about next season. I don't know yet.
