  1. Shite hawks the lot of them. I liked it how the linesman was smiling when Viduka was complaining to the ref at the end of the first half about the offside decisions he was getting wrong. We're going to upset a lot of people if we stay up.
  2. True but to be fair, the guys on Setanta spent 90 minutes putting the boot in to us. They only said we'd had a decent opening after Liverpool scored. Bring back the "No Commentary, just stadium noise" option Sky/Setanta.
  3. It looks pretty likely to me that Shearer will stay as manager regardless of what league we're in.
  4. I've only seen it the once but wasn't Smith's two footed tackle worse than Barton's? We've got two players with tempers that cost us. Nice work Allardyce.
  5. No more listening to the arsehole commentators (cheerleaders for the opposition, especially the top 4, would be a better description of them) Sky and Setanta have for Premiership matches. Do you think we'd become Sky and Setanta's favoured team in the Championship or do you think we'd still be the 'baddie' who they wanted to see beaten every week?
  6. Still a 9 (although Barton getting himself sent off hasn't helped us for the last three games). Nobody expected us to get anything off Liverpool. 3 - 0 hasn't damaged our goal difference too badly. We still need Hull to keep losing just like we did before this game. Sunderland losing is a bonus. One things for sure though, we abso-fucking-lutley have to beat Middlesbrough on Monday. As crazy as the situation is, one win could still save us!
  7. I thought the media said one of the reasons we are in trouble is because we sacked Allardyce without giving him a chance?
  8. Good of Bobby to name and slag off a few of our current squad. I'm sure that will help keep us up.
  9. I was stunned when Man City won that penalty shoot out in the UEFA cup. I couldn't believe Given saved any penalties. I was thinking the other team's shots must have missed rather than Shay saved any of them.
  10. Deportivo Wanka Home Shirt Deportivo Wanka is a Peruvian football club, based in the city of Huancayo in the Peruvian Andes. It was founded in 1996 and is named after the Wankas people who formerly inhabited the area and after whom the city of Huancayo is named http://www.hotukdeals.com/item/391536/deportivo-wanka-home-shirt-19-99-po
  11. Pyrrhic victory? I had to look that up. "A Pyrrhic victory is a victory with devastating cost to the victor."
  12. Depending on fitness I'd be tempted to play Martins and Lovenkrands up front. They did ok together against Arsenal.
  13. I agree the squad isn't good. My point was people are writing off next season before we even know what league we are going to be in. I'd rather have another struggle in the Premiership next season with Shearer in charge on a tight budget than be relegated this season. If Ashley hasn't learned his lesson his asset is going to become a liability.
  14. If Ashley hasn't learnt from the mistakes of this season I don't think it's overly pessimistic to assume things won't be much different. We need a major overhaul of the squad and that requires significant funds and a decent manager in charge of everything. The only positive we have to go on so far is that the latter seems to have been taken care of (ie getting rid of the DoF role), but even that is a waste of time if they bring Kinnear back. Say we managed not to get relegated, I'm pretty sure everyone agrees that Shearer would stay. Do you not agree that we wouldn't be in our current predicament if Keegan had managed all this season? I'd have a lot more faith in Shearer managing us than Kinnear. Money helps a lot but look at what Everton have achieved on a shoe string budget with a decent manager. If Shearer is given a chance he obviously has a long term plan to sort this club out. Imagine the grief Ashley is going to get if we go down. Now imagine the grief he would get if he brought Kinnear back to manage in the Championship.
  15. There's people in this thread peddling the view that there's no point us staying up anyway as next season is a write off too. Freddy Shepherd talked a right load of shit when he said Geordie's never give up and have a fighting spirit. The current state of this forum suggests otherwise.
  16. True but finishing anywhere in the bottom 3 carries the same punishment so it's more or less irrelevant whether a team finishes 20th, 19th or 18th.
  17. I may not agree with everything it says but it shows an outsider view that thinks we aren't going to be relegated. It seems most people on here think we are already down. Why are Hull and Sunderland fans worrying if we are a certainty to be relegated?
  18. Sorry about that, it didn't occur to me that the article was basically a fixture list. Here is a link to that article that predicts Newcastle will stay up: - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/5236107/Newcastle-target-Middlesbrough-derby-as-key-to-Premier-League-survival.html
  19. Surely then you can't lose? Shearer does well - we do well. Shearer does poorly - we rid the club of the 'legend' stuff (and the shadow of Shearer in particular) once and for all. You should be happy, no? Testa Mora has been on suicide watch for the last few days.
  20. Leaner? It's already too thin as it is! Apart from that I agree with the majority of the article.
  21. Just think how pissed off they'll all be if we don't get relegated.

For me one of the worst things if we get relegated will be that we will lose Bassong. He's the best centre back we've had for years. I actually think our defence is pretty good. Beye, Bassong, S. Taylor, Enrique are a pretty solid defence. The midfield is what kills us. I actually think Butt and Duff put a lot of effort in, it's just they're not good enough anymore. Jonas puts in a lot of effort but he has no end product. He may do well in a team of superstars but not in our team. Guthrie is a reasonable, young midfielder. Owen seems to be a spent force who can't do much without a good supply line. Viduka is heading towards the knackers yard. Ameobi is below average and always injured. I've always like Martins as he is probably the only exciting player in our team who can produce his own chances. Smith must be the only striker who has ever gone on to be a combative central midfielder.
  23. The facts are Newcastle are NOT relegated yet. Newcastle have 4 games to save themselves (and hope others fail to save themselves). You can give up now if you want but it isn't over yet. West Brom and Fulham have been in worse positions at this point in a season and didn't go down. The situation is dire but we still have a chance.
  24. He was on the bench yesterday.
