  1. Next time someone sees him out on the lash in Newcastle ask him how his crossing and shooting is going.
  2. I read somewhere that he needs surgery on his achilles which will keep him out for 9 months. If that's true it's the end of his career on Tyneside. That was during last Summer! The doctors decided he didn't need the surgery.

  4. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/t/tottenham_hotspur/8045213.stm I agree with Redknapp.
  5. Embiggens? He's embiggened that role with his cromulent performance. He takes his coffee grey with creamium.
  6. One of the reasons we are where we are. No free kick specialist, Guthrie the only one who can take a decent corner, no creative midfielders, etc. You know, the same problems we've had since Robert, Shearer and Solano left.
  7. He has to start because he's the only player in the squad who can take a decent corner (that failing must be addressed in the Summer by signing someone else who can take them too).
  8. Ashton That aren't always injured.
  9. I don't agree. I think Ashley (assuming we stay up) will realise how close he came to having his asset half in value. I think Shearer will get a free reign and around £20m plus player sales to spend.
  10. Talk about hype! Are you basing that statement on Achievement divided by number of games played?
  11. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/sahas-payasyouplay-deal-a-credit-to-everton-986876.html http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/nov/03/premierleague-everton The exception that proves the rule? Saha must not have been paid much this season!
  12. He had a good header saved last night and I can remember him forcing Huth in to conceding a corner. If we stay up I wonder if Shearer would offer his friend a new contract? I wonder if Owen wants to stay? It depends on what other offers he gets (if any). When Shearer's injuries removed his pace he adapted his game. This isn't as easy for Owen because Shearer has a more physical presence compared to Owen. He isn't worth half of what we pay him a week now. He is a luxury player who we can't afford.
  13. Shola hasn't been anywhere near the team since the Stoke game. Shearer obviously doesn't rate him (assuming he's not injured as usual) so I'm sure he'll be trying to sell him in the summer.
  14. I don't think so, that's why I'm amazed when people suggest it. A footballer's career is short, and there's no incentive whatsoever to sign on those kind of terms... unless there is no other club anywhere in the world that would take you. Also, think of the effect on a players morale. In effect you're saying, 'Mark, we think you're a fat, useless bastard who is of very little value to the club, but if you do manage to play superbly and score us some vital goals then we'll go as far as to pay you some wages'. It'll never work. It's strange how the term 'pay as you play' has entered football language when no one has ever signed a contract on those terms. If Viduka leaves at the end of the season we could offer to loan him back for the last month of next season. That seems to be the time he becomes fit.
  15. Is there any history anywhere of players taking a 'pay as you play' deal? It's the only contract I'd offer Viduka no matter how good he can be on his day.
  16. They don't get called the Mackems of Merseyside for nothing.
  17. Changed my vote from a 9 to an 8. We could still have a lot to do. Our fate is back in our own hands though and hopefully yesterday's result has restored some confidence. West Brom and Middlesbrough can get a maximum of 37 point. Hull can get a maximum of 40 points. We can get a maximum of 40 points but our current goal difference over the current bottom 3 is almost like having another point. 18. I believe Shearer said to Viduka he would see how it goes. He could offer Viduka an extension. If he does I hope it's based on pay as you play! Lovenkrands has a good, powerful and usually accurate shot on him. Definitely worth keeping as I'm sure he is relatively cheap wages wise compared to some of our other players. Are you :toke: ? The only Jonas (and we) miss is a more creative midfilder to play along with him.... and Toon-Attacks will be deadly. Sign Skjelbred from Rosenborg this summer Not at all. Check the Jonas thread for others sharing this view.
  19. He can run the ball up the pitch but when he gets to the final third his usefulness ends. He always tries to run it past that one opposition player too many after beating one or two and then ends up losing the ball. He does track back but he is powder puff in the tackle. Once again he didn't even look like shooting when he was baring down on goal just outside the penalty area. Luckily he got a free kick instead. I'll give him another season if we stay up but him being a nice guy off the pitch doesn't cut it on the football pitch.
  20. He's scored 3 goals now. People love Jonas and he's useless in comparison to Lovenkrands.
  21. What would happen if a movable object were confronted with a stoppable force? We'll find out tonight.
  22. Exactly. 3 days before the Champions League Final I'm sure Man U will have all their kids playing in that game (unless they haven't won the Premiership by then which is unlikely). You think that'll be an easy game for Hull? No but it's a lot easier than playing a team containing the likes of Ronaldo, Rooney, Tevez, Berbatov, etc.
  23. That wasn't shit that came out.
