  1. Why not? Some people compare Jonas to Park.
  2. Duff has also backed Shearer to become manager full time. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/05/25/duff-to-stay-and-make-amends-72703-23705877/ Those comments piss me right off. What does that say about how the club was run before Shearer arrived? Mike Ashley got everything he deserved. Unfortunately the fans, the city, the club, some staff and players and the local economy are 'collateral damage' in his punishment.
  3. My favourite player since he arrived. He was one of the only players who actually created some excitement with his play. I'm sure many will disagree but I could see the likes of Man U going for him. Tevez is more than likely going to leave. Tevez is valued at around £25m. Martins has that £11m release clause in his contract. He'll probably go for less. Is Tevez in a great team that much better than Martins who played in an awful team? Doubt he'd want to be a bench warmer though. Man City may be interested. They were rumoured to be interested in Owen at one point and personally I think Owen's finished. Martins would be much more useful to a team. Martins was putting off a groin operation until the end of the season. I wonder who long he'll take to recover from that? Probably only a month or so. When he goes I hope we get good money for him.
  4. We need to somehow bring in young, promising players whose best days are in front of them. The has beens living on past reputations are one of the reasons we went down. I have no idea who can cut it in the Championship. The only Championship games I've watched in the last 16 years was an occasional play off game. There seem to be two types of team that can gain promotion from the Championship. The team full of 6 footers who play route one like Stoke or the team who pass it around like West Brom. I doubt we'll get any money for the likes of Geremi. We're probably stuck with him. Shearer pretty much dropped him and played Edgar (a player whose contract ends this summer) out of position over him. He also seemed to think R. Taylor was more of a right winger than a right back.
  5. Ahhh so that explains why he hasnt been as good recently as at the start of the season....not! Jonas' record is shit. His stats are shit (apart from distance run). He can't pass, he can't cross and he can't shoot. I'd understand people liking him if he ever created a goal or a chance. Serious question - why does anyone rate him? He's another one of the players people say will be great when he leaves us (just like people said about Viana and Kluivert who went on to prove them wrong). If you're correct we should get bids for him from other teams. Hopefully we'll get what we paid for him at least. As for comparing Jonas to Park, Park scores goals.
  6. It will be a busy Summer with comings and I imagine, plenty of goings. What is the clubs scouting network like now that Dennis Wise and his Shite Hawk mates have gone? Are we geared up to find players for the Championship? Will we be able to sign enough players to fill the gaps that will be created by players leaving? If Shearer stays, hopefully his name will persuade the likes of Man U and Arsenal to loan us a few up and coming players for a season (It worked for Roy Keane). Why does anyone think Ranger and Carroll will be our strike force? Neither is proven in first team football. They may turn out to be great or they may not.
  7. Roy Keane won the Championship in his first manager job.
  8. Shearer not getting better results from these players than Kinnear or Houghton did may just be proof that 'you can't polish a turd' and our players certainly combine to make a turd of a team. Shearer will be given time off the fans that other managers probably wouldn't get. It's not as if a load of top managers will be wanting to manage NUFC now we are a Championship team. Also, Shearer has an experienced manager in Dowie alongside him so it's not as if he was managing without help. You can't say if he'll make a good or bad manager based on 8 games with a rotten team in the bottom 3 of the premiership. Some of the few players who actually deserve respect like Beye seem to hope Shearer stays. The selection of Owen may have been a weakness of Shearer's but that 'problem' has now been removed. As for Shearer not picking Jonas today, Jonas is another one of those players who the fans seem to like even though they are shit (see Viana, Ketsbia, etc). Milner looks like Ronaldo compared to Jonas.
  9. Derek Llambias - Somewhere there's a casino missing a manager. I wonder if there is a football chairman currently managing a casino? Still, to be fair, I guess we should blame the fool who appointed him rather than the fool who accepted the job he wasn't in any way shape or form qualified for.
  10. Remember during Shearer's last years as a player when some people said he was holding us back and should have been sold/dropped? It turns out he was instrumental in keeping us up. 3 years after he hung up his boots we're relegated.
  11. The team, owner, chairman and Dennis Wise should have to go round Newcastle in an open top bus.
  12. How did Mike Ashley ever become a self made billionaire? If his NUFC based decision making is anything to go by the man is a first class idiot. Once again all the results went for us but our piss poor 'team' of multi-millionaire mercenary losers failed us again. Fucking shit they were. No passion, no skill, no urgency, little commitment, etc. Aston Villa were misfiring and once it became clear Everton were winning they had little to play for yet they still showed more commitment than our rabble. A misfiring Aston Villa were like watching vintage Brazil compared to the shit served up by our lot. That was them fighting for our survival? Piss off!
  13. Mark Lawrenson has us losing 2 - 0 and being relegated. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8048360.stm Having read the comments from other club's fans here (I know I shouldn't but couldn't help myself) I hope we stay up even more: - http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/philmcnulty/2009/05/it_was_once_claimed_the.html Bunch of twats say we deserve to go down because: - We sacked Allardyce Other club's fans don't like Shearer We are full of ourselves and see ourselves as a big club etc.
  14. That's the rumour but have the media purely based it on the usual I.e. He's young and French? They said exactly the same about N'Zogbia and when the time came it was Wigan and not Wenger who were interested. I read that we'd be wanting £8m for Bassong. How often does Wenger ever pay that sort of money for young players? Hopefully we stay up and he won't leave.
  15. It would also be helpful if Everton took a commanding lead away to Fulham so at half time the Aston Villa players would know they wouldn't be able to get 5th even if they won.
  16. What does it say about him when it seems Shearer and Dowie rate him behind Ameobi and Ranger in the striker pecking order? Agbonlahor will be playing alongside Carew up front, it will be Milner and Young on the flanks. Although i hope he drops Gabby, who looks fooked, and plays Delfouneso. I thought you liked us here? You should hope for a draw that saves us (with Man U beating Hull) and Fulham beating Everton so you get 5th place. Will you bother hanging around here if we get relegated? We won't want to hear about the Premiership if we're down in the Championship.
  17. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/05/20/dowie-tells-nufc-stars-to-ignore-bassong-loss-72703-23670042/

  19. The media are just praying for it. Fucking bastards. They may get the "after match reaction" of our fans relief at staying up. If we go down the only reaction the fans should give the Sky cameras should be "I'm going to cancel my Sky subscription".
  20. http://www.nufc.com/ I guess the club doesn't think they could do a job in the championship.
  21. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2009/05/20/owen-in-a-race-to-be-fit-for-villa-trip-61634-23666754/2/
  22. Surely most people on here hope that whether Hull beat Man U or not? It's just shite that they're involved at all in such an important game. (Hull not the CL Final) I'm ambivalent about who the Champions League Final winner is unless the scenario I mentioned occurs.
  23. By the way, this is the team that beat Aston Villa 2 - 0 at St. James'. Given Beye Coloccini Taylor Jose Enrique Gutierrez Barton Butt Duff Martins Ameobi Subs Cacapa for Martins (88) Owen for Ameobi (90) And there's a good chance at least one of them will.
  24. Like a few have said, we can't complain about the team Man U put out however, if we get a Win or Draw at Aston Villa but get relegated because Hull beat Man U I hope Barcelona win the Champions League Final.
