Bobby is fighting cancer again. Sadly the reports when he broke the news made it sound like he didn't expect to beat it this time. He wouldn't be well enough to carry out the duties of a DoF.

Good article: - http://www.true-faith.co.uk/html/tbawe.htm "You also have to agree with the implicit sentiment in Kevin's words that it is a game no longer worth watching by and large. Don't get me wrong I have no affection whatsoever for Man Utd or Arsenal but they are worth watching for the sublime nature of their play. We've been going to see NUFC play out of a sense of obligation in recent seasons rather than due to any great expectation. Jesus, it wasn't Souness, Roeder or Allardyce or Shepherd or Sir John Big Mouth Tory Bastard which kept the attendances at SJP on the 50K+ side but the warm memories of KK, Peter Beardsley, Rob Lee, Sir Les and Shearer. But the rest, including us? Watchable? Bolton? Wigan? Birmingham? Everton, Villa? As a neutral is it really worth a couple of hours of your life watching 22 very fit and athletic lads, cover every blade of grass, close the oppo down, get 10 players behind the ball, dive, cheat, waste time, play the percentages etc etc? Is it really worth watching Chelsea or Liverpool go to wherever and just grind out a completely forgettable and predictable result? Is it fuck and as SKY-Setanta discovered last week from this hombre, I'm not longer going to shell out the thick end of £50 per month to watch it, because I haven't been. And I won't be. KK's words should have struck at the heart of football - not as a reflection on how he regarded the game but as a medical on the game's health. This is a man, for all of his flaws who has oozed enthusiasm and love of football - who purred at the skills of Asprilla, Ginola and Beardsley and who had become so disenfranchised by the game, he couldn't be arsed to watch it, despite the game having been his life." Apart from Man U and Arsenal, most teams in the Premiership are boring to watch. The Bolton fan will just be defending his team out of a sense of duty just like we do. He'll know they are awful to watch just like we know we have been since Bobby left. Hopefully Keegan will attract some exciting, attacking players because he will tell them that NUFC are going to attack rather than try to grind out results.

The 'Love it' rant (hence the profile name). Some people (usually non-NUFC fans) think he'd lost it. I say he'd found it! Most people (including the neutrals) would have loved it if we beat them. I even had a makem telling me yesterday that Keegan was just showing his passion and that he cared with that rant. It took Keegan coming back for me to finally be able to find a photo of it on the internet for my profile.

I was sitting on the Metro on my way home from work when my phone rang. My wife said "Have you heard?" and I said "Heard what?". She said "Keegan's back!". I couldn't help but smile. If nothing else, this appointment should motivate the team to avoid relegation. I imagine the crowd will be back on song for the first time in ages. I think if he gets Shearer as his number 2 there will be an even bigger buzz through the city. Positive thinking is a lot more powerful than negative. No more going to Derby for a draw!

Do you think that's how it happened then?

Send the team out to: - "Give them nothing and take from them everything!"
-
He hadn't been anywhere near a football that last time we got him. He was retired, living in Spain playing golf.

Some cockney t*** ex-footballer on Soccer Saturday (I don't know who he is) said "They all want one man to do it". I was shouting at the screen, "You dare say Shearer!". What do they base this demand for Shearer on? The made up s**** in the papers? It's like me saying "I know what his favourite dinner will be. Jellied Eels". I liked Alan McInally going into one and feeling quote strongly about it saying that Allardyce most certainly should have KEPT his job because we drew 0-0 away at Stoke. What the f*** does he know about us and our club. What a t***. At least Jeff Stelling had the sense to retort and say "oh come on Alan, they were absolutely awful". McInally's face was a picture, he was getting really wound up about it. Exactly! All these twats in the media go "Sam should have been given more time" but after every Newcastle game on TV in the last three months they've all come out with more or less "Newcastle are fucking shite!"

It's why I wished Mort and Ashley had unveiled Mourinho as our new manager the day after Allardyce had been sacked. It would have been like "f*** you!" to all the media and all the other arseholes who are always having a go at us. We should try and use this as a positive and turn in it into a kind of "us against the world" attitude. If everyone strives to prove all of these people wrong, we might be able to achieve something It appears to be something NUFC and Mike Ashley have in common, the media are always slagging both off. Now if Mike can just get his success to rub off on NUFC we'll show them bastards! We wanted to be hated for being good!

It's a shame Shearer wasn't on (and wasn't so media-savvy) and when they started calling us Alan just lamped the twat one in the face.

Newcastle V Stoke - Pre Match Thread (Keegan Homecoming)
LoveItIfWeBeatU replied to Jamie's topic in Football
Was it a straight red for Smith? I know he'd got a yellow earlier in the game and wondered if the camera didn't pick up the 2nd yellow followed by a red? It must have been some pretty good stuff he said to the ref to get a straight red. -
Not saying he's the man to save us but Keegan had retired from football the last time we got him. He was living in Spain playing golf. He wasn't involved in football. If nothing else the guy could motivate.

For some reason I picture the start of "Rambo - First Blood Part 2". Rambo/Keegan - Do we get to win this time? Col.Trautman/Mort/Ashley - This time it's up to you! Seriously though, if we aren't going to offer it to a top class manager (or they all don't want it) I'd rather we gave the job to Shearer (with help from Keegan/Bobby Robson) than give it to someone like Mark Hughes. All those games Roeder won as caretaker were with Shearer as his assistant. Maybe it was Alan who made the real difference.

Didn't the press go to ask Jose about the England job though? The press wouldn't think to ask Jose about Newcastle. They consider us to be beneath him. Does he think the same though? The press forget we now have a billionaire owner.
-
I can't see the harm in asking Mourinho. If he says no then at least they tried and the fans know they tried to get a top class manager. Not to ask would be a crime. Draw up a list of the top managers. If they are in a job so what? Go through the correct channels and ask.

To right! How anyone can feel sympathy for someone who gets a £6 million pay off I'll never know.

Mort - Want the job Jose? Mourinho - You offered it to Redknapp first. Mort - You'll get a £100 million transfer kitty. Mourinho - I'm totally there dude! -

I hope our fans sing the names of top class managers all through the Man U game!
