Maybe it's the solution to our goal shipping problems? Play more than one keeper at the same time like doubles tennis or something? Seriously though, we already have 5 goalkeepers (Given, Harper, Krul, Forster and Soderberg).

Since Keegan returned Mike Ashley has had 'Keegan' on the back of his shirt hasn't he? Mort said there would be no more release clauses like Owen and Martins are supposed to have so I doubt they'd agree to a clause where a player must play every game if fit. If he did have such a clause I'm pretty sure the club would break the clause and not play him rather than get relegated by playing him up front every game! It is worrying how he keeps getting a game though. Maybe the fans should sing "Alan Smith, we all think you are fucking shite, please prove us wrong by scoring some goals".

If Man U can get £6M for Smith anything is possible!

Because we are not in a position to get the best players at the best prices. If your a top player who is good enough to get in to Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Man Utd, why would you come to Newcastle? especially since there are clubs above us who are going to get in to Europe and they have the cash to match us for wages and transfer fee, if they need too. The only way we can get the top players is if we outbid other teams or offer stupid wages. We did this with Owen, and where are we now? Has he made any god-damn difference on the pitch? no... but he has cost us millions to improve us nowt. Spend sensibly in the market over time. I'd take a top 10 finish next season with a £25million spend this summer over spunking £50 million+ on over-priced mercanaries and still not reaching Europe. It must have taken you ages to type that. I'm sure it's hard to organise the Summer transfers when we aren't 100% sure what division we are going to be in! Sod the slowly building foundations idea. Ashley has enough cash to do the foundation building and blow a load of money on some potential 'instant' fix players (and I don't mean 'big name' trophy signings, I mean well researched players). Like most people have said, we are lucky there are a few worse teams than us this season. That is all that will save us. No they are not, 6 weeks until contract expiry if another English club wants them, i doubt their rep carries too far of these shores. Their contracts run out in June. I thought players in the last six months of their contract were free to talk to other clubs.

Looking at NUFC.Com's player list, only Carr, Ramage and Troisi's contracts end in the Summer. The fact that they are free to talk to other clubs now and no other team has come in for them shows how in demand they will be.
