Pretty sure he will be, can't see him starting regularly anyway. I was as well, but was hoping he'd be ahead of Chamakh at least so he could get a decent amount of games through squad rotation. Right now it looks like he won't be playing at all except for cup matches and when Van Persie gets crocked. Might have been better for us if he just went to Lille.

Nah. At this current point in time, I'm still somewhat cautiously optimistic that this season will go well. We actually finished comfortably mid-table that season despite having fuck all for a squad didn't we? It's just that our standards were a lot higher than they are now.

Seems to get better and better. Don't think the argument that he's shit in open plays and just poaches goals holds anymore. His general play is far better than Shola's. Would be a pleasant surprise if he keeps getting better and ends up being a respectable Premiership striker. Then again, if that happened, we'd probably sell him.

We're still very much in a phase where the team needs to gel + adapt to the Premier League so it's not surprising that we look disjointed at times. I'm willing to give him some time to settle things down and figure out an overarching game-plan that works for us. We were in a very similar position this time last year under Hughton where we had some good players but hadn't figured out how to play to their strengths yet. Eventually things started to gel and we were doing quite nicely, but we sold that whole team so we're going to have to start again. Thank God we're somehow still getting results in the meantime. Once things start coming together, the upside of this team is significantly larger than last year's and we have the potential to be watching some very good football by the end of the season. I'm willing to trust that Pardew's not a complete fucking idiot and will figure out a plan for now. Just don't start Ryan Taylor or Ameobi (the shit one) ever again.

Should be dropped for Marveaux next week. Seems tailor made to be an impact sub and not much else.
