  1. Was working just fine before they scored. There's only so much you can do with terrible forwards.
  2. Can't really complain about that goal. It's one of those amazing bits of football that lower to mid table Premiership teams seem to be capable of consistently producing against Newcastle United and Newcastle United alone.
  3. The whole idea of deliberately signing players who won't play to "look like we did something" is pretty downright absurd.
  4. 17th March: http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/8917415.Pardew_ponders_tactics/ I've never seen a manager contradict himself than Pardew, getting a bit silly if not tiresome now Blatant lies unless you haven't followed us at all for the past decade which part are blatant lies? Which NUFC manager in your view has dished out more contradictions in such a short space of time? http://static.guim.co.uk/sys-images/Football/Pix/pictures/2009/1/31/1233409993906/Joe-Kinnear-001.jpg http://www.newcastleis.com/roeder_calm.jpg "He's right, Glen Roeder doesn't make contradictions."
  5. Carroll doing a Robbie Keane would be interesting, to say the least
  6. This is like having to choose between Butt and Smith

  8. Korean striker Cho Jae-Jin, who almost signed for us in January 2008 has announced his retirement at age 30. Apparently he's been hiding the fact that he has a malformed hip joint his whole career. His hip joint is shaped in a way that makes it permanently dislocated, which means that every time he plays he goes through insufferable pain as his bones grind against each other. He's been taking pain killers every week for nearly a decade. The reason his move to us mysteriously fell apart was because we discovered his condition during a medical. He got Newcastle to keep the fact that he had a medical at all secret and made it look like negotiations just broke down in hopes that other clubs wouldn't find out. I gave him a lot of s*** for becoming a worse and worse player every year, I kind of feel bad now that I know why that happened. The moral of the story from a Newcastle standpoint being that our medical staff isn't completely incompetent
  9. Enrique will have far better clubs lining up for his signature than "no Europe" Liverpool

Still can't believe he was our manager for the better part of a season and the fact that Mike Ashley appointed him and tried to stick with him even despite his health problems is probably one of the primary reasons why I'll never trust the current regime.
  11. no surprise his biggest critic also happens to be some mackem c*** (markeyboy) I have a sneaking feeling that most football fans just rate all average keepers as "good shot stopper, but poor command of area" because they don't have the ability to identify real strengths and weaknesses. In all seriousness, he's what, 22? Keepers of that age don't command their area well as a general rule. They may shout and carry on like Joe Hart, but you can't really expect them to intelligently and assertively instruct those in front of them when they're a good 10 years of their peak. Probably true.

I wouldn't go as far as to say "pure myth." He showed some hints of quality early on but he became pretty abysmal as the season went on, just like everyone else.
  14. If he was a shrewd businessman and a fan he would probably have bought Newcastle for a relative pittance when we got relegated and useless wankers like Barry Moat were being touted. But then it's all relative. Maybe at even double the price it's still a pittance for the likes of him and now as a premier league club he sees something he can work with. "Shrewd" businessmen don't buy football clubs. they do, but not if they want to run them as a business. Well yes, they do if they already have near-infinite money and just want to find away to piss it all away before the die.

Exactly. The reason why I've always been against Taylor is his salary. He's so much weaker as a player compared to Tiote, HBA or Barton, but is almost earning as much as them. We got to trust our club to find better talents that is younger, have more potential, is less injury prone and earn considerable less. Steven Taylor isn't that good, but he's not bad enough to be easily replaced by any "young, hungry lad from the Championship." Remember that Taylor exerted Vidic-esque dominance over the Championship for the half season he was there.

  17. We're going to have to make the hard choice eventually. There's not room for both of them at this club. Krul was decent but understandably pretty shaky when called upon this season, perhaps we could have them switch places next year so we can get some glimpses at how Forster does in the PL.

Crumpy Grunt in parody of himself shocker I'd rather think I'd said as I see it. You think Ashley wouldn't sell his own Mother if a profit wasn't to be made? For those happy to renew and buy into Asleys vision should shut the f*** up when any player with talent that should be nurtured by NUFC is then sold. Ashleys made no secret whatsoever that his intention is 'buy cheap / sell for profit' Ladies and gentlemen, I believe we've just witnessed the Cristo Redemtor of straw men.

He's a squad player, but nothing more. But if his previous salary was 40 000 a week, he's probably on something similar now. He earns too much compared to how often he's injured and what he delivers on the pitch. If we could sell him for £6 mill, we could probably find a replacement that is just as good for £1-2 mill. And that player is probably satisfied with half of Taylors salary. Oh, like James Perch?
  21. Not expecting much from this. Notoriously hard fixture and our injury list is comical.
  22. Would be epic if Birmingham did the cup double this season and then got relegated.
