  1. Crap, I wish I had been here for the draw. Could have had some epic banter with babatunde at least
  2. Like I said. Why? Why do you think he's a disgrace? Because so far the only reason you've given is not dropping our top scorer.
  3. As far as I can tell you just have very strong pre-determined opinions about players and managers. Those you like can do no wrong, those you don't are guaranteed to screw up everything. Am I wrong?
  4. Hillarious. Care to tell everyone what tells you that Hughton won't sign a CM this summer other than the fact that you don't like him?
  5. Which card are you trying to pull here, the foreign one, the bandwagon-jumper one, or the armchair-fan one?
  6. Why? They may play "pretty" football but we have been more effective, "pretty" football doesn't do much good in the premiership either unless you have the players and I can't see them spending £100m+ to do it. Where did I mention pretty football? I think Bob Matthews and Nigel Pearson (I'm convinved it's Leicester winning the playoffs) will go into next season fully aware that the weakest aspect of the team will need to be addressed. Wont happen with us, I just can't see it. We addressed some weak spots in this transfer window, we still didn't get the central midfielder we needed but we did pretty well. True, but who displaced within the existing squad? Kadar, Ryan Taylor perhaps, Pancrate and Ranger. I have zero faith that Hughton will go out there and try to bring a central midfielder to the club that will edge Nolan out of the team. You think we'll go down based on the assumption that we won't strengthen at CM during the transfer window, your justification for which being "you can't see it." ...Can't argue with that, I suppose.
  7. We were away on a s*** pitch in pouring rain with half of our first-choice squad missing. It's hardly surprising that the quality of football was less than epic. I see it as a plus that we were able to grind out a comfortable win under the circumstances.
  8. This is exactly the kind of soft, unremarkable win that Championship-winning teams should be able to pull off week-in and week-out.
  9. Was expecting a let-down once I found out that my first match in 5 months was going to be away with half our first-choice players missing. Pretty much what I anticipated so far. We're getting dragged around but thanks to the gulf of quality they're not really looking threatening... Really doesn't feel like they could score. Should be fine as long as we stay focused.
  10. My opinion on Shay Given is pretty much the same as my opinion on Kevin Keegan.
  11. Saturday midnight kickoff, match on tv. Looks like this will be my first match since september probably means we'll lose
  12. Since they brought in a new, young manager who's made wholesale changes to their squad and tactics. They're no longer just shameless cheating bastards, they're shameless cheating bastards with loads of pace and skill. That plus us lacking our foreign-based players, not having trained together almost at all, not taking this tournament seriously, and a f***ing blind ref. (Is it just me or is it a terrible idea to assign a ref from Hong Kong to a China match?) Still an absolutely shameful performance though.

    Oh Noes!!

Titus Bramble and Newcastle United is just about the worst footballer + club match ever. Surely we can find someone decent who isn't completely incapable of handling pressure. Shockingly lazy scouting if this is true imo.
  14. South Korea 0 - 3 China. Out first loss to them in 32 years.
  15. FFS their population is 50k. Considering that half of that is female and another half of the rest is either too old or too young, you literally only have to be the best player out of 50 people to make the national squad.
  16. You've picked the right place to commiserate
  17. I highly doubt any manager actually TELLS his players to go play long ball (possibly excluding fat Sam.) It's just that we end up playing that way naturally due to not having a center midfield. It's been that way for several seasons and even more managers now. Hardly a hughton specific issue.
  18. The thing is that Moses is probably looking for a shop-window club where he can show off his stuff for a couple of years and get his "dream move" to a top 4 side. In that respect, being a "big club" or having lots of fans probably matters less to him than being guaranteed playing time in the Premiership. Additionally, past example has shown that moving to Newcastle isn't exactly the best career move for young prospects...
  19. He looks a damn good player. Very creative and always to seems to get himself in good positions. I've been touting him to make it in Europe ever since he made his debut for my local club, but it's still surprising how quickly he's adapted. The lad's mentality is his biggest strength imo, I've never seen a more fearless player. I feel that part of what's held Park back in the Prem is that he's very hesitant about using his technique or trying risky moves (Fergie probably had a hand in this as well. Park is a completely different player when he's captaining the national team.) Not so with Lee. Keep an eye on Ki Sung-Yong at Celtic. He was fantastic working in the same team as Lee and I'm sure he'll be making to move over to the Prem within a couple of years.
  20. Two more goals for Park Joo-Young at Monaco. I haven't actually seen him play this year but the local press is making it sound like he's ripping the French league to shreds! (Perhaps babatunde could enlighten me on this?) Between him, Lee Chung-Yong at Bolton, Ki Sung-Yong at Celtic and the usual suspects (Park Ji-Sung, Lee Young-Pyo etc) I don't think we've ever had a stronger national team. Summer can't come soon enough.
  21. Fulham would be the perfect career move for him. Oh well.
  22. I've got a bad feeling that some Prem side is going to come in last minute and we'll be looking at this thread ruefully in a year's time. (Much like the Arshavin/Modric threads.)
  23. Show me a post that is anti-Newcastle by someone on here who is a Newcastle fan. oops, that would be anti-nust. sorry
