This is pretty much the most likely scenario. Carver or Beardsley as caretaker, then permanently if they're not a complete disaster.

He had ten years man, plenty of time to buy players that weren't so one-dimensional. There are plenty of "bad" teams in the Championship and below that haven't resorted to that abortion of a football style. Delap's throw-ins and Shotton's towel t-shirt have been quickly forgotten. http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2011/12/12/article-2073311-0F2416D100000578-813_468x286.jpg At Stoke? What the hell do you take to lure any players there? Tiny stadium at a club whose biggest achievement is winning the League Cup once in the seventies. And who gives a crap at how you play if you're at a club like Stoke. Decent cup run and mid-table is what they're happy with. And you're right they are plenty of teams like that.... Who aren't in the PL which is the most important thing to a club like that. This sounds exactly like the papers who say us lot would rather lose 4-3 then win 1-0. I guess Pulis' fear at Stoke was there was no need to change it. He had a system that worked for him, why change? At Palace he had nothing to lose. I don't want him here but I don't think we'd necessarily see Stoke-like tactics if he came. Think this is spot on. He persisted with what he had at Stoke because it was working. I don't think he's necessarily married to that style. He's a decent, average manager really. We can and will do a lot worse.

Again, I would totally take a shit English clogger manager, given that who we'll actually get probably won't even be a manager at all.
-
He can't beat Sunderland. They'll win their next ten matches against them just to piss us off
-
You know, with our luck he'll probably win the champions league with Palace
-
This place is like that last scene from Return of the Jedi
-
I'd assume this will be the case until the end of the season, with Beardsley getting the job permanently if he is acceptably mediocre.
-
Some insight from a world-renowned expert on jumping ship.

Seriously, let's not even stress over this. We all know it will be somebody that respectable football clubs wouldn't touch with a ten foot pole. We'll deal with that particular tragedy as it comes. For now let us just bask in the moment.

I guess it makes sense that we have a fresh thread for his second spell as manager.
-
The one advantage he does have over Pardew is that he'll probably drop dead before the end of his eight-year contract.
-
Don't be silly. I'm quite upbeat in the NBA thread.

Welcome back

We're a few days away from selling Sissoko with no replacement and appointing Beardsley at manager, yet I'm excited. How fucked up is this club.
-
This can't possibly be happening. He'll fail a medical or something.
-
It has to happen at this point. Even if Palace don't pay for Pardew, Ashley will sack him for this. For what though? All he did was miss a press conference Having the temerity to negotiate with Palace behind his back and present him with an ultimatum?

I suppose the bright side to this is that even if Palace decide not to pay for Pardew, Ashley may be sufficiently fed up to just sack him.

The local media know diddly squat as usual. Ridiculous that they've scheduled two half-hour live chats where, they'll just repeat variations of "we don't know yet" for every question.
-
It's too much hope, Kanji. Don't hope this much. He's going to jump out of his office window when that ten-year extension comes through this afternoon.
-
Should be given the chance to relegate a big club.
-
In his defense, we have had players that have looked like utter calamities for up to a full season and turned out to be alright. That said, we have had many more players that have looked like utter calamities and actually were utter calamities.
-
I draw the line at Kinnear. Anything beyond that is fine.
-
Would be wildly gutted if we missed another chance to get someone decent and just end up with a very mediocre Pulis, albeit a wildly better option than Pardew. Don't think the atmosphere will be anything other than apathetic like it has been, regardless. He hasn't done anything tbf. A few quotes about how he is flattered but committed to Newcastle and its forgotten. I'd be more than content with Pullis. He's miles better than anyone I expect us to appoint.

I'm worried too, but at this point I'll take worried over "don't give a shit"
