If you are to believe certain journos (which I know, probably waffle), Erdinc deal is off due to inability to agree personal terms. Personal terms? With the wage bill down, and all that Andy Carroll used up on tarmac, lightbulbs and whatever-bloody else... How anyone can seriously believe Barton will be replaced properly, when we haven't replaced Carroll properly despite having funds and time, and we haven't replaced Enrique even though we've known for a month or so that he wouldn't sign a new contract. Utter madness. Can't disagree too much on any of that. Despite what I think of Barton and Enrique's convenient excuses, I am sceptical of our intent to spend seriously this window. The only good thing about Barton's outbursts is that it will put more pressure on the board to prove him wrong...or right as the situation may be. you're sceptical? how many more windows until you just accept it? Whilst I agree with you, I'm jealous...I remember what it was like having at least an ounce of hope that we'd spend

Still waiting for Kuqi to be wheeled out at the end of the month

BBC Newcastle reporting we have given up our chase of Erdinc due to personal terms. I love the word chase, it suggests some sort of purposeful pursuit...

That's Barton's fault though Of course it is...

There is absolutely no chance we are going to sign a player of this calibre - either going to be a free youngster or an ageing crock who will play for peanuts. Same for Jose's replacement.
-
I think I'm to blame for this - about to travel on a train and thought to myself it was going to be a boring journey without anything to read...

I agree with your sentiments to a point, but I think that behaving professionally is a reciprocal business; I don't think anyone in the right mind could say the current hierarchy have done everything in their power to be open, transparent and trustworthy

I'm waiting for Pardew's comment that we 'might need one more player in'... Does he think we started the transfer window with a +6 player handicap?
-
People wax lyrical too much about the importance of team spirit - for all to see now, ours appears to be fraction of what it was the past two seasons. I'm not doom mongering either, simply being realistic. If our relative success last season was based on Carroll's goals, Nolan's goals, Barton's influence...removing those without significant replacement (i.e. not deliberately looking for players with clauses) is suicide.

You can justify this decision based on his outbursts and wages if you want, but crucially, I can't see anyone coming in to replace Barton.

I know we all complain from time to time about Sky Sports and their biased/sensationalist approach...but f**k me, at least they can say things properly. Barring Paul Merson. -
Given this form, I doubt Bruce's missus trusts him with the shopping list at ASDA, never mind re-investing academy money into improving the team
-
Anyone else get the feeling he's enjoying being the centre of attention far too much?

Has to be Gazza, even just to see Alan Hull shuffle at 0:52

No, just the ones who don't want to suffer a coach journey... -

Maybe I'm missing something here, but don't they all have pretty flash cars? The type that aren't too uncomfortable to sit in, pretty nice to drive, and I'm assuming they all have SatNav too? -
Wiki is indeed true, always nice to see a footballer with a bit up top (pardon any pun) Being privately educated doesn't mean he's more intelligent, it means he had parents who could afford to and chose to educate him privately. Will he be the first prem player from Hexham if he makes it? I was in his class for a year, was never really pals with him; probably a bit of both wealth and nonce if I'm honest
