Pre-season friendlies are all about building up fitness levels, getting to know new team mates better and for the coaches to experiment with possible formations/tactics. Not much more, which is why I take little notice of the results whatsoever. There's been many teams over the years who had disastrous pre-season results and have ended up high in the league table. Sure, at the end of the friendlies you get to see a more coherent team performance but you'd be stupid to judge anyone after 2 pre-season friendlies but going by opinions on this board, its already happening I'm betting

I think it's bridge or baines! Why do people keep mentioning Bridge, hes out for the start of the season, whats the point?

Most players will be getting injuries at this early stage of the season, muscles will be getting worked after long periods of rest, of course there'll be strains here and there. People need to stop whining. I'll join you whinging if hes out for a sustained period of time this season but not now ffs.

Just seen it on BBC news, only mentions Newcastle United are involved, they have no more information than that.... Anyone else a little nervous? I hope to god this won't effect us much as I was getting use to the nice sections of the Newcastle Rollercoaster of ups and downs, hopefully this isn't a bid down

If it is true then I hope hes only a stand-in captain for pre-season as hes far too young and not the brightest of lads to be captaining the team over a whole season. I forsee this as only temporary. I'll wait until after the window shuts before making any more judgements though...

Generally fines mean FUCK ALL in todays game. If you banned them from competitions, deduct points or even sack players/staff THEN you'd see a change. But I don't think they'll ever understand this. They've been going backwards for years.

I've never written him off since he joined, I always hoped he'd get his chance and a good run of games but that never happened, especially under Glenn the muppet. I'd be over the fucking moon to see him play on the left for us, playing a solid run of games and involved in some goals, would make my heart melt day I still believe!

Providing we buy a solid left back, I would start the season with Luque on the left wing and stick with him. n'zogbia will get his opportunity soon enough but its luques chance to show sam and us fans what he can do.

Personally I'd tend to put a fair bit of value on what fans of his own team have to say about him. Not when they've not seen him play. But then thats what this threads for, discussing Aldo Duscher I guess. I'll just reserve my judgement for now as hes on a trial and nothing more. I'll trust in Sam decision.
