  3. I've always believed in him getting things done but I didn't expect him to get cracking so quickly. With all of the rumours and takeover talk I thought the days had passed slowly but its only bloody June the 7th! Well pleased now! Its funny how a football club can have such an impact on my emotions but I've been through so much with Newcastle. The amount of rollercoaster games, frustration, heartache and pure joy surely isn't good for the heart! .......but right now I feel like I've won the lottery, crazy innit. Funny old game eh
  4. I agree with you. It's highly unlikely we won't get injuries, even minor ones, and competition = motivation. If we are going to compete with the top clubs, it's exactly what we need. Exactly. We never had a squad of any depth last season so we're not used to it We need a large squad of quality if we are to achieve anything in the coming seasons blueyes.gif
  5. Stop whinging about old bloody threads and open some fuckin cans :drink: :drink:
  6. This thread is old news, I say we lock it

    Club Captain

Personally, I'd give it to Butt. Hes been outstanding for me. A close 2nd would be Given but I prefer the captain to be further up the park. Either of those and I'd be happy. As long as they're vocal, have the ability to inspire and kick peoples arses when they're slacking
  9. Always been a big, big fan of Giuly. Very skillful and intelligent player
  10. Stop bein so bloody negative! Try to look at the positive side of things for a change Karjala...
  11. Good stuff. Can't recall many times in the past 5 or so years where I've felt so optomistic about the club. We're on the up it seems
  12. Good luck to Sibi, he has done us proud and I thank him for his services! Now, time to get some replacements in
  13. (from .c.o.uk) This has probably been posted before but I liked what Sam had to say: NEWCASTLE United manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he is set to implement the same meticulous attention to detail that saw Bolton Wanderers transformed from second-tier also-rans to European contenders. Big Sam settled into his St.James' Park hotseat on Monday as he sets about the task of imposing his mark on the club ahead of next season. And the new United gaffer says that he will be taking in the first-half of games from a vantage point in the stands, using his now familiar ear-piece to communicate with coaching staff in the dugout. The 52-year-old said: "I will have to check in the stand to see if I have got the right area to sit in without too many people listening in. "The language can get a bit blue now and again, and I don't want to be upsetting any women or youngsters if they are around me." "In the short term I will try to get upstairs in the first-half and oversee from there. We will have the right level of communication down to the bench and the right technology to use behind the scenes if I need to." Allardyce and his Bolton team took a host of big scalps during his eight years at the Lancashire club, and he is adamant that the techniques he used to bring about so much success at the Reebok will again be used to full advantage at Gallowgate. "Part of my life as coach, not just as a manager, is to be tactically aware and able to suss out opposition," he added. "You have to use what resources you have to combat the opposition, even if they have bigger and better resources than you. We spend a lot of time planning how we will play against teams." "We might play the same system as they do but sometimes in a different way. That will be to really nullify the opposition's strengths and expose their weaknesses. That's what I am all about."

    David Rozehnal

Looks like we may have won the race, I hope so http://home.skysports.com/list.aspx?hlid=470139&CPID=8&clid=4&lid=3&title=Magpies+head+race+for+Rozehnal&channel=& Borussia Dortmund admit their hopes of signing Czech Republic international David Rozehnal have all but gone after Newcastle entered the race for the defender's signature. The Bundesliga side had earmarked the Paris Saint Germain star as the ideal replacement for Real Madrid-bound Christoph Metzelder. But Newcastle boss Sam Allardyce is reportedly prepared to top Dortmund's €3.5million (£2.3m) offer to land the 26-year-old. "We were keen on him long before the English registered their interest, but Paris won't allow him to join us," boss Hans-Joachim Watzke told Kicker. "Financially we have gone as far as possible and we won't be part of a bidding race. "We won't and we can't afford to spend €5million (£3.3m) for a central defender." Rozehnal has been a key figure at the heart of the PSG defence for the last two years since joining from Club Brugge.
  15. My opinion is basically like most others.........I'd love for someone of his calibre to be at the club but I can't see it happening. Hope I'm wrong tho!

    The freebies.

Biggest wum on the board tbh. Never puts much thought into his posts and loves a good pointless argument Viduka would be a good signing. I'm not sure I even understand why people could be worried about him signing. He scored more than Oba last season, hes still 31, our training methods should get the best out him and......hes fucking free!
  17. All on short term deals though which was key so even if they didn't work out they weren't clogging up the wage bill for years to come when they weren't wanted like we often experience. If I recall during Sams previous deals at Bolton, I doubt he'd be one to get new players on crazy wages. I think he'd get the players and tell them straight that the deal is a fair one on good money but not stupid money. Hopefully with a new chairman, we won't be signing players and putting them straight onto daft wages. I'm confident Sam would have the wage structure under more control, although I realise that wouldn't be his job. He just seems more realistic and sensible to what we've had in the past. He'd not pay crazy prices unless he thought it was absolutely worth it. Unfortunately with this boardroom bollocks dragging on for what seems months now, we don't know if he'll be able to offer silly money. Even if he could I still think he'd only pay sensible fees and wages
  18. A swift gander on youtube shows him to be a neat, skilful player. Scores a crackin goal in a 4-1 win in one of the vids. You can scratch your heads all you like but when Sam finds players who will cost around the £1m mark, theres no finacial risk at all. I'd happily have ten £1m potential quality players than just one £10m player blueyes.gif The bigger our squad this year, the better.
  19. What a bunch of muppets mackems.gif Because boycotting a store in the bridges is suddenly going to bankrupt the company
  20. As long as we can get someone of, at the very least, similar quality or better. exactly, it's not a decent move if you have to go and spend £7m to just get a player of the same ability FFS I'm guessing he just wanted to leave, which is understandable and Sam needn't stand in his way. I liked Parker but I never felt he was vocal enough as captain but his committment was usually top notch.. Bring on a replacement, I'm looking forward to the next few weeks, anything could happen
  21. I agree because whenever I've seen Barton hes definately been running the show and with a decent pace and shot on him, I always thought he'd be great for us. Allardyce is one of few managers who can tame his attitude and remember, if he came to us then he'd have to agree to curbing lots of his lip before he signed. He also has to earn the respect of the fans and just as Sam did with Diouf and Anelka, he'll do with Joey. I have faith!
