For a player like him a lot comes down to timing and form. If he hits both he'll show his quality but we really need to get people running from midfield to open things up a bit. HBA all over really, he was just so good he could often do it all on his own.

Well that's what I've said to be fair, and when we lose the next two games we'll have played the top 4 teams whereas Pardew's shit start was against poor teams and his 6 wins included some scalps. As I've said elsewhere I can see maybe 15 points up to the mid point then we'll make some signings and survive. It's still not nearly fucking good enough.

I'm an all in subscriber to the poison of Pardew but it simply doesn't apply to: Starting Obertan. Neglecting both Perez and Aarons, and latterly De Jong. The Colback Anita vortex of emptiness in the middle. Dropping Anita for Colback. Colback playing every minute. Selling Abeid when the rest of the midfield can't cut it. Banking everything on Colo (no chance that he made that call as a board member knowing he wouldn't get say Thauvin if they signed another CB). Playing Cisse. I mean there are more but this is enough in itself. These are his decisions, not Pardew's. He's been at the club what 4 months? I think he can at least be judged on his own decision-making, selections and tactics at this point and he's been fucking awful tbh.

Mitrovic seems to be our only hope at this point. Get the ball sticking to him, people out wide playing off, crosses into the box and the likes of Wijnaldum arriving late into the box or getting beyond play. I'm starting to think that some form of 4-4-2 might be our best bet when he comes back with Perez or De Jong playing off him and get Aarons in on the left, Sissoko and Wijnaldum middle, Thauvin right. It's shit but not sure if it'll be shitter than what we've seen so far.

Unless there's a very dramatic improvement, half a season will see us completely cut adrift. The way I see is after we lose the next two hopefully Mitrovic will have bedded in a bit and we can get the ball to stick with him then support the striker a bit better. 15 or more points from the 11 games to halfway and spend some money in January then staying up is doable. Sad that it's a relegation battle already but here we are. He's made so many fucking awful decisions for a new manager already mind.

FWIW I don't think he'll turn it around, he's showing all the hallmarks of a shit manager but I also think half the season is a fair judgement point and I'm sticking with that.
