  1. Did Aarons play in all the pre season games? Thought his first game was more or less the Timbers game where he was the only decent player?
  2. just little old women drinking tea and that
  3. if they think agents and middlemen will suddenly stop making money from the game they're insane transfer fees disappear then wages go up, agents and middlemen take their cut from % of wages, simples
  4. It's starting to get to me how many good attacking players he has and we can't score fucking goals. Reminds me of something...
  5. He's a considerably better player than Colback like, can't believe some people doubt it But I agree, starting to look like he's got to go for the greater good.
  6. This week's Squires cartoon
  7. It's like how Lampard and Gerrard always looked s**** together though. You need two midfielders who compliment each other, and I just can't see them doing that. Neither do Anita and Colback, of course, but nobody is disputing that those two are s**** together. Well this is the point surely? Colback and Anita offer nothing, Sissoko is s*** in the position he's playing and Wijnaldum isn't a number f***ing ten so instead of playing 4 players who are either not good enough or just not in the right place why not just take a chance with those two CM making space for Aarons, De Jong and Perez (drop Cisse) to play roles they're capable at and where we might score goals. Against Watford. At home. I wouldn't say Anita offers nothing, he's quite a tigerish little tackler, he can win the ball back and recycle it, so he would still be worth considering for the lone defensive midfield role. Less successful challenges than Colback apparently. Only slightly higher interceptions. Per game. As long as at least one of them gets dropped ASAP I'm OK with it, would rather it be Colback personally. Btw can you post some context to backup the stat you've quoted such as is it less successful but more challenges made, less successful with less made? How do their stats compare to other middle of the road (if they're lucky) defensive midfielders of equivalent stature? Otherwise it's pointless stating it if they're both utter dogshit at it but Colback perhaps slightly less so.
  8. Costanza you need a fucking break man
  9. It's like how Lampard and Gerrard always looked shite together though. You need two midfielders who compliment each other, and I just can't see them doing that. Neither do Anita and Colback, of course, but nobody is disputing that those two are shite together. Well this is the point surely? Colback and Anita offer nothing, Sissoko is shit in the position he's playing and Wijnaldum isn't a number fucking ten so instead of playing 4 players who are either not good enough or just not in the right place why not just take a chance with those two CM making space for Aarons, De Jong and Perez (drop Cisse) to play roles they're capable at and where we might score goals. I kind of agree but on the other hand if you go more attacking then Vurn is going to be more exposed and in that case I'd rather have Sissoko and Wijnaldum as a two with more potential to cover than Vurn on his own. Also we need Sissoko and Wijnaldum out on the positions they're currently playing. This is precisely the reason we end up playing two defensive midfielders, because neither Colback or Anita are considered capable of doing the job alone. If they can't, then they should never have been signed in the first place and there should be question marks raised about our scouting team. Also the management who took the decision to offload Abeid who actually can play the defensive midfield role alone. You can question his ability but at least he can do a specific job without someone holding his hand. I concur.
  10. He didn't do a fucking thing anywhere on the pitch

  13. I thought it was common consensus that you don't need a holding midfielder these as long as your central two aren't shit and are athletic enough to get about, put a tackle in etc. Look at some of the average shit that dominates us in midfield game after game, how could Sissoko and Wijnaldum be worse than that?
  14. Really enjoyed that article. Cole really hit home there and brought some great memories back. Agree very good read and not the usual crass and ignorant perspective you bet from most sources. Surprised me coming from Cole, who has always seemed bitter or arrogant about his time with us. Fair play to him. As for McClaren. Lose to Watford and the inevitable 2 defeats after and I think the pressure ramps. I wouldn't be surprised to see Mike pulling the trigger quicker than many may think. Surprised there's so much praise for that article tbh, seems to me he's just filled it with loads of generic football clichés instead of deluded Geordie clichés so people have taken it as insightful.
  15. A bit OTT non? They're both athletic and have played that position in their careers. Wijnaldum is not a #10 and Sissoko is not a winger. Hardly moronic to suggest. Exactly. Can't understand this apparent law that says they couldn't play as a two in midfield, especially against Watford ffs
  16. I agree, I like Anita but unless Tiotes attitude and/or relationship with McLaren is irreparable I'd like to see him in the side with Wijnaldum in the middle.
  17. Didn't see the game last night but this is bullshit. Shit players don't regularly play for France Nah, it's not. He's been here what 3 years nearly? If he's had 10 good games in that time you'll be lucky. He's fucking gash. As I said didn't see the game last night but I have a lot of time for him. He always tries to create something while others are too afraid to do anything He tries to create by kicking and running fast. Has the football intelligence of a piece of wood with all of the physical attributes to be a quality player. Think TT said it, try and flog him so we can buy a midfielder who is actually good at one thing consistently at least.
  18. Be amazed if that happens from what I've seen of him so far
  19. Which midfielder was he talking about? Or was he just talking about the midfield in general? All of them. Specifically, all of CM's (including Wijnaldum). Showed their pass maps. Showed how we looked liable to get hit on the counter. So they don't protect the defence. They don't create anything. As a unit, they don't do anything. Absolutely bang on tbf
  20. can only hope that's his view in light of new players and coaching setup on the back of a woeful preseason
  21. I really hope that in two games when Mitrovic is back McLaren will be under enough Pardew-esque pressure and is forced to abandon his current fearful approach. If we've Thauvin, Aarons, Perez & De Jong getting games with Mitrovic I hope he'll come good.
