funny that, i was off work at the time SA was sacked and was all over the internet looking at the rumours etc...i went on holiday and deschamps was the bookies favourite and i started thinking bascially the same as you say here about him, gets to the hotel a few hours later, switch on CNN and the little ticker bars saying keegan appointed manager!!! blew my mind that did how olds KK by the way? 57 or so right...see no reason why he'll do a good 5-8 years as long as the club keeps moving forward, like the rest of us he seems to be rediscovering his love of the game and the club

The Magedia Thread - Sunderland suck trollolololol

Tbf if they had have got one we couldn't have complained. Well I had to wait until 3am yesterday morning to watch the match in full because of Setanta strange schedule over here. However it did give me a chance to watch the game for a different perspective. I can tell you what, if Bolton had got something out of the game then it would have been an injustice. It was so anti-football, they showed no desire to go on an win the game, they were very organised and ensured they got everyone behind the ball when we had it. The only time in the first half where they committed bodies up front, we broke and Oba was cynicially brought down. Watching them week in and week out would be an absolute nightmare. Don't get me wrong we weren't at our best, but a 1-0 scoreline was probably about right. I hope they get beat every game they have left this season because rewarding that brand of football is just not right. seconded afar, that was my feeling from watching the game...and relegations too good for them really, horrible, horrible team -
"skint? spurs? you, sir, are a northern buffoon, a monkey if you will...the very fact spurs play sir bentley in that position is because they choose to do so, it's all part of our masterplan to achieve world domination skint? pah!" just thought i'd reply in the vein of a fleet street hack there from the era of drop the dead donkey or something else i'm confusing it with but really, spurs? skint? bottomless pit, itks agreed it a while back

fair enough that like, wouldn't argue much with the placings, a little but not much...however the key part is in bold for me as it means the placings of owen, viduka & ferguson are somewhat vulnerable, and you could argue the same for tino & bellamy to a degree include fitness in the scenario, which you really have to do, and i'd probably go for the following (left the origingal numbers in for reference): 1. Shearer 2. Ferdinand 3. Beardsley 5. Cole 7. Bellamy 9. Martins 4. Owen 6. Asprilla 8. Viduka 10. Ferguson

if i was manu now i'd be revising my offer minus about 5m...don't see what out spurs have got, they can't keep him now so manu are in the driving seat even if he does go they still need to sign 2 strikers right? unless they're relying on darren bent for the season pah ha ha

just read it, yeah makes a refreshing change that...in fact that's pretty much what a match report should be, a reflection of the events through unbiased eyes it's just reminded me how often shite journalists will take something outwith the match in a match report, talk about that for more than half of it then say something small and inaccurate about the game 'cause they've spent half the article harping on about takeover rumours or something -
the owen things interesting to me now given the diminished crowd on saturday and impending recession in the country they made the point about it in one of the broadsheets, wonder if owen IS asking for an increase in the midst of very difficult economic times for the vast majority of people? i'm not saying he is before anyone starts, i'm wondering if he is

Spiderman, Charlie, Milner and Duff v Geremi

magnificent; deride on the one hand, become what you deride on the other -
fair point that, maybe coming through among the likes of dyer, bramble and the other wankers has rubbed off on him hope not 'cause i agree with your first statement and always have done
-
jesus, there isn't a defender in the game that doesn't make mistakes at some point over the 90 comes down to frequency of mistake and, more importantly, where mistakes are made; bramble was a disgrace because his mistakes almost always led to a goal due to the areas he was fucking up in colo, for example against manu, in the first minute wiped someone out right on the edge of our box and i said to myself "here we go again", then a short time later he made another cunt of something in a very dangerous area since then over the 2 games he's barely put a foot wrong, nor does he look like doing so taylors all round play already looks to be improving but it doesn't matter if he plays 89 minutes of the finest football the world has ever seen if he can't cut mistakes out that are going to cost the team due to where they're committed...it's why the italians (& argies) make great defenders because they're told where and where not to commit free kicks
-
No, no it could'nt. Imagine if we did Spuds would be gutted should be ashleys masterplan, totally fuck his spurs mates over now right at the end of the window when it's become totally apparent that without more signings they're gonna struggle ashley steps in and nicks anyone quality from them! pity billionairres don't get to be billionairres behaving like 5 year olds or we might be in business!

i personally think you're all comparing apples & oranges in the above, not of it's untrue about either player but you're ignoring the bits you don't want to acknowledge 'cause it suits you i'd sum up my view on relfection with; they both can play link up but in different areas of the pitch, owen is far better in tighter games like bolton as we saw dropping deep, martins is better on the move than owen as we've seen with some of his very good link up play with spiderman

what for? propping up a desk

disorient the opposition with a diminutive team, it's a new one...set pieces will be a laugh i reckon if we sign anyone it'll be no-one we've been linked with btw, except maybe pocognoli...got a feeling about him for some reason, probably because i just have the nagging suspision that dennis wise is using an old version of football manager as his starting point for scouting players...

smallest team in the prem attempt? might as well have a gimmick...

fours hours ahead man, just starting the day at work by catching up with yesterdays threads! yourself? have a meeting with the sergeant major at 8. If I go to sleep i'll blatantly fuck it off and as a result get bollocked Milner, Duff, Smith. If you went back to 2003 and said we'll have all 3 in our team by 2007 you'd be over the moon, know we just wanna see the back of them. What the hell is football all about it's fucken mental ain't it?

I hope so. Me too, but not because it means we've got shot of Milner, but more than likely that we've signed someone better. i'd rather we let smith & duff go for nothing then keep milner to play upfront when we're in dire need, he looked better there than both those fuckin clowns...still s****, but better than smith & duff sign a RM/RW & let duff & smith go i say In an ideal world we'd let all of them go, but Duff is probably the most useful and has the most ability. What i'd give for Smith, Shola and Milner gone forgot shola, tells it's own story personally i'd ship duff before shola for the wages and the fact shola can actually score a goal from time to time

well, as they had done it before, are you going to say they wouldn't have done it again ? Why not ? I don't think they would have. What about you? As lovejoy has pointed out, nobody is disputing that they had spent a lot of money. But at least they had a go, and succeeded too. Maybe they couldn't have done it again without investment. Thats the name of the game, but it doesn't mean that Ashley is doing it right. A lot of people are pretending they are happy with this summer, but they know within themselves that, unless something happens in the next 7 days, they are disappointed. I've said it before and I'll say it again. Keegan will do a good job with the tools he has, but if they don't back him it is an opportunity wasted and he won't get anywhere near what he did the last time. Easy comment to make though. What your effectively saying is that if we spend more money people will be happy. Which is obvious. "back him" is a bullshit phrase because people will have different opinions on what that means. have you calmed down now Look. The last time Keegan was manager, he strengthened the team before promotion was complete, in readiness for the next season. He also strengthened at the end of the first season up. He did the same thing in a way when he sold Cole, he knew who he wanted. The club backed him all the way. They did the same under Gullit when he brought defenders in the summer of 99. They did the same with Bobby Robson who rebuilt the team and spent a lot of money to get back into the top positions. Every summer, they knew what the team needed, and went out and did it, not always successfully, but they backed him and put the team first. Put your sodding grievances with Shepherd to one side, and look at how it should be done, and accept that despite their mistakes, they at least understood this and did their best. We need a striker. Forget the money, its the season we are looking at. Get a striker, attempt to have a good season, bollocks to the money, get it back later. This is what I meant earlier, Keegan knows we want a striker, he also knows some players he'd like in I bet. If the player was here already, we could recover the fee largely or completely by selling Milner. Thats football. This is how ambitious clubs behave. Clubs with the fanbases can do this. You don't seriously think we should behave like shite clubs like Blackburn and pompey do you ffs ? Sell to buy ? Bollocks. In an ideal World players would be here from the end of May but in real life it just isn't as that, if it was then Berbatov would be at Old Trafford, Barry would be at Liverpool, Robinho would be at Chelsea and Wenger wouldn't be looking for another signing. As long as they get what Keegan thinks we need in before the transfer window closes then I don't see the problem. might be years before this "argument" is laid to rest - as i see it we'll only ever know if KK was backed once he's left the club and talks about it, not before because he's old school football and won't shit where he eats, he'll walk first then take a dump like last time what i'm getting at is this 'NE5 vs the world' argument about backing is only relevant IF KK has asked for, say, diego or aguero or whoever and ashley has instantly told him to get to fuck 'cause we're not paying that kind of money if they've set out with targets and agreed values for those targets then can't get them for the price it's not a matter of him not being backed imo, it's a realisation (that all clubs seem to have these days) that they can't keep paying over the oddsfor players, nor should we do so either i still agree with NE5 personally, that we should be spending a wedge of cash now to close the gap while it's there to be closed but if KK doesn't agree with paying over the odds for players then that should be it, i've swung to dave's viewpoint that part of the "problem" is that KK thinks he can get a lot more out of what he's currently got time will tell -

which was actually a better ball than geremis that we scored from. some folk rate a pass by what results from it, ie a shinner we score from is better than a great ball we don't score from. in the interests of equality n'zogbias first 2 crosses were great,2nd especially after that he went to shit seconded, i remember at least 2 excellent crosses Zog put in earlier in the game, then he seemed to go to shit (i'm not including the pass where he found geremi who should have scored either btw, that's been forgotten easily enough) i'm a Zog fan so this view is inevitable but as i see it there are very few, very few wingers out there who consistently put in great crosses these days but with Zog, playing at LB albeit adavanced, you've got a far greater likelihood he will produce the goods at some stage in a game than milner imo, he's just got more quality in his pass/shot exaggeration but when milner manages to beat the first man with a cross, which is rare, he invariably hits the second...lost count of the times that happened saturday

i'm glad he's gone, he was like an albatross around our neck {cough cough}

I think you're a racist tbh I hope this remark was made as a wind-up ; if not, it shows a failure to make your view stick on the basic football facts, hence resorting to the last-chance saloon of all Ultra-Liberal/Left wing people by attempting to smear the opposing view as 'Racist' - this is also an attempt to shut down debate on sensitive issues which SHOULD be aired.. For your info, although I wasn't the target of this remark, I can inform you that my all-time football hero was Pele, so colour doesn't come into it - its ABILITY that counts, and regardless of his colour, Martins doesn't have as much of it as Owen - LIVE WITH IT, or argue the point with FACTS not accusations. why didn't you read on a few posts and see it was all resolved as a joke? how anyone thought it wouldn't be is mental

you'd think, but martins isn't good enough doncha know?
