  1. Think Cacapa is borderline useless, but think he should be ok against Bolton since we'll be doing most of the attacking. Also, everyone deserves a second chance. I'm feeling generous. Exactly. Taylor's had more than enough after his blunders. To be fair I always thought John Terry was lucky that he had players like Desailly, Lebouef, Duberry() to learn his trade from. Whereas Taylor had to contend with Boumsong, Bramble, Obrien, Ronny Johnsen, etc etc. Sincerely think that Coloccini will have a major impact on his development. You could say O'Brien etc had Taylor alongside them so it hindered their development tbf. As when they played alongside Woodgate they look decent. Obrien was always going to be an average-to-good(decent) defender. Didnt possess the natural abilities or leadership qualities that Taylor has. On the other hand Taylor's problems are more positional and his lack of experience, which he will learn by having the benefit of someone like Coloccini or Woodgate alongside him. Over 100 games now for the first team btw. Get the feeling that you're arguing for argument's sake and to imply that Obrien's development was stunted by playing alongside Taylor suggests to me that you're simply on a windup. 100 games alongside the shower of shite we had as defenders (boumsong bramble babayaro carr obrien etc), battling against relegation, playing LB RB and CB. And still only 22 as well. Need I say more? Half that number of games with Woody he'd be freaking Beckenbauer (ok exaggerating here) by now. So you're saying playing overt 100 games isn't experienced? That was my point that you can't say he's no longer inexperienced. 100 games of negative, inconsistent, disorganised, shambolic football, with multiple partners none which have been any good and with managers who've taken the club backwards. i'm with TT here, said before he's got plenty of the raw materials to make a good, maybe a very good defender, but he's reached the age/experience level now where he just needs a good settled defence to play in if he's still making ricks then we'll know where we are
  2. Only problem is that i can't see KK leaving Duff out, or starting Enrique for that matter. Although, i do agree. I think KK will start with Owen on the bench and bring him on. he'll go unchanged imo, not exactly like the performance at OT was simply a defensive one
  3. does anyone know about the inner workings of the press? i mean i know the PCC exist but i wonder where their remit starts and ends with respect to this bullshit surely the press have an obligation to report fairly and impartially right? what if someone complied a dossier of all of her total dogshit reporting on the toon and sent it to them citing "emotional distress caused" or something equally stupid generally i don't care about what the press write but i'm a massive fan of the guardians football reporting and she's dragging into the shit with her NUFC stuff...i actually wrote to the editor a while back about her after one utter heap of shite article (take your pick) but never even got an acknowledgement think i'm gonna write another now though, in fact i am off to do exactly that
  4. yeah, the vitriol some people reserve for him escapes me tbh, save it for smith or duff, or souness better still personally think it's a level below him, he's good enough to be playing PL football for a weaker team imo, certainly a promoted team
  5. the guys mint, seems to truly enjoy being at the club still i wished we'd sold him for 7m or a packet of quavers like some clowns on here were advocating eh? might do some digging at the end of this season for some thread bumps 'cause i think he's gonna have an excellent season under KK
  6. head tells me this might be another 10 men behind the ball frustration exercise that have become so familiar recently at SJP heart (and a bit of head) tells me that in jonas, guthrie & what appeared to me to be a very fired up obagoals on sunday we have enough players in the team at the moment who can drop a shoulder & beat a man thus creating the space we've lacked so much in recent times at home, with teams like bolton if you breach their first line of defence they'll struggle to cope all depends on the start, as always - get about them and score early and i confidently predict we'll bury them
  7. i've concluded, over time, that locking any single thread is tantamount to cutting off one single snakes napper from medusa...the only logical solution would be to lock up certain participants in guantanamo bay then everyone else can enjoy their internet freedom while NE5 bribes the guards to piss all over mandias's personal copy of the kerrang as signed by ozzie ozborne
  8. Couldn't be arsed to read your post but I read the word holes, I assume you meant holes in our defence, Coloccini is part of our defence so I assume you are saying he is shite and a waste of £10m. Why don't you go and support Chelsea then! belly laugh dude, belly laugh, well played
  9. this threads turned into a work of genius: not a single poster has said anything really bad about the game or our performance the day yet people are picking tiny little holes in what's written just to prove some kind of point no-ones interested in
  10. dude, honestly, what's going on? you're killing me
  11. And your point is...? well seeing as noone else bothered to make a point i felt compelled to join in really Aye, suitably pointless. i know you are (are we really behaving like 5 year olds?)
  12. And your point is...? well seeing as noone else bothered to make a point i felt compelled to join in really
  13. this post is pure gold, seems someone watches the games at least
  14. the Brazilian league is very physical, perhaps moreso than the EPL believe it or not. I`ve watched a lot of Brazilian games and some of the fouls and tackles that are committed in that league make the EPL like a ballerina league fair point, suppose i was just thinking they don't tend to produce your common garden hard as nails defender at a high level do they? most of the ones that make it are good on the ball and can defend, they rarely tend to produce a samuel, cordoba or any number or argies...for a flying fullback i'd consider looking to brazil like (suppose disproves the hard thing a bit!) this is an inexpert opinion of course, just a view...the brazilian league tends to be slow when i've seen it, making the pace hard to get used to rather than the physicality? wow, wish i didn't talk such negative shite all the time!
  15. What a load of shit man. Aye, he's lightweight and in terms of 50/50s then i'd bet against him every time, but when he's on the move, he'll beat any man on his day. Discounting Jonas, there isn't another player in our squad better at beating his man.
  16. are you just trying to wind me up here? or are you a f***ing idiot? there you go again man, are you trying to fill a sunday quota for negative things to say? well you've got me dude, i've no idea how to proceed so fair play to you i'm off to buy my argentina shirt, you?
  17. yeah, i said to the turkish waiter standing next to me that was a very, very bad tackle he brought me another raki!
  18. are you just trying to wind me up here? or are you a fucking idiot?
  19. I genuinely think that, in the past on this forum, i've been a close second/third in the Duff hatred scale to you Wullie. But i just think that's plain wrong. Atleast he knew what he was doing, unlike N'Zogbia and Butt (for the most part). He didn't concede possession, fannied about one too many times aye, but it was Man Utd - one of the msot compact teams in the Premiership when you consider their closing down mentality. He had three men on him when he received the ball at times. He needed to make himself more available at times, yes, but he didn't have a particularly bad game. Not like he horrendously surrendered posession in dangerous areas, and gave away daft free-kicks in even more dangerous areas like Butt. Or basically had no 'product', never mind end product, like Milner. I wouldn't have him in my starting line-up when everyone was fit, and i'm worried that KK fancies him on the wing when Owen comes back, but to say he was our worst player today is just plain wrong imo. i'm with wullie here..butt made one of the worst passes i've ever seen today, amidst a shitload of other mistakes, yet i struggle to think of a single thing duff achieved in the game other than looking "busy" that would elevate him above butt duff = smith for me, now that duff is fit...they both need a taxi to the glue factory
  20. can't agree with the taylor assessment but this is basically spot on...maybe an 8 for colo?
  21. one? generous dude, generous...but after he got beyond the disputed period he was good, agreed I saw him slip once but apart from that he was in the right place at the right time and looked solid in the air. I'm not a fan of him either but he looked a good defender today Duff, you're being harsh on aswell tbh. He had no chance to shine today because it was always tight in his area of the pitch and he was expected to support the midfield especially in the 2nd 45. He didn't give the ball away and never stopped moving which created space for Jonas and Martins Milner on the other hand, woeful excuse for a footballer, no matter how hard he tries just think duff was the same as always...i was wanting to chuck my pint everytime he passed the ball onto someone else when he got anywhere near the goal, he's got no bottle which is exactly what Shearer did in his last 3 seasons, he knew his limitations, Duff isn't going to outpace Ferdinand, Evra or Vidic, he played the easy ball. Not saying he had a paticularly good game, but he was decent. No bottle? I'm sorry mate but shut-up shut up? how old are you man? he has no bottle in the sense that he never, once, went at a man, dove into a tackle or did anything remotely dangerous the entire game...he danced about like wayne b****** sleep in the middle of the park people have this smith thing going one, WATCH duff, really watch him then you'll be able to cultivate some dislike, he's a f***ing charlatan how much dislike have you already cultivated for Coloccini btw? you're a funny poster so I dont want to discourage you but you've posted some really daft stuff tonight i thought you were alright man, what happened? i've said a number of times i think coloccini was mint...which part don't you understand? let me know and i'll rewrite for you i wrote something like "one of the finest adaptations to PL football i've seen" in another post yeah, dislike...try READING ronaldo, it helps
