I’ll give it a 7. We’ve covered the positions we needed to but I’m not convinced we got the best players we could have. Woltemade - Can’t complain, he looks like a unique talent. Wissa - Good signing but the financials indicate pure desperation. Elanga - I would’ve preferred someone more creative, but if we’re doubling down on pace and power we couldn’t have got better. Ramsdale - I think he’ll end up being a good signing, the hyped up prospect keepers often seem to get overwhelmed so he makes sense. Ramsey - A Willock upgrade, but for the money I think we could’ve got a genuine competitor/successor for Joelinton, which I don’t think he is. Thiaw - Really not convinced about this one tbh. He feels like a result of lazy scouting, he hasn’t done much since we were last interested in him and Milan were trying to flog him for much cheaper than what we signed him for. I’d be surprised if he’s Schar’s successor or becomes a first team regular. In terms of departures, it’s a shame Isak suffered some sort of head injury, but other than that it all makes sense. Get a good midfielder and I’ll give it a 9.

No way we’ll let Murphy go, he’ll get a lot of time for us this season.

These German’s keep things quiet. I’d be sad to see him go tbh.
-
Their DoF is a Geordie and clearly very good at his job.

There were reports Jackson was interested in coming. How are players supposed to show they want to come here? What Wissa did was shit.
-
Isn’t £75m is more than what Bayern had agreed to pay?
-
It is interesting that Brentford got us to meet the price which was rumoured early on (which many considered a fuck off price) for a player that’s been on strike. We should bring in Giles as DoF.
-
Wissa has been a great goalscorer for 1 season.
-
Not sure but some reporters are suggesting they’ve recalled him for a permanent transfer, as they’ve recalled Guiu as well. The obligation in the Bayern deal was €80m, so about £70m. In theory if you’re giving them cash now maybe you could get it down to £65m or so. £55m on a 29 year old striker though. I’m not sure many clubs would do that, even the very rich ones.
-
Buying Wissa for £55m is not intelligent. For not much more you can probably get 24 year old Jackson.
-
They tried to replace him and failed, and they need his goals. Plus they have the option of another year, so it’s really 2 years he has left.
-
If we spend deadline day trying to get Wissa and fail then that tops the Guehi saga for me. People will need sacking.
-
I’ve always maintained that if Jackson is on pens then he’ll score 20 league goals a season for us. I hope there’s truth in the talk around him.
-
What about if we release Wilson and end up with Jackson?
-
Fuck me, how are we still talking about Wissa
