Shearer being asked if he’s “concerned” about the way Liverpool are playing. Why the fuck would he be.

We were trying to sign strikers all summer tbf. We were going for Joao Pedro in June, who in hindsight I believe would’ve been an a Isak replacement, rather than a Callum Wilson replacement. We had a bad run of luck when it came to our striker bids, but you can’t say we weren’t trying. Also, we didn’t receive an acceptable Isak bid until late in August, which didn’t help matters.

The guy is embarrassing his club. I expect he can stomach losing a top German player to Liverpool but can’t stomach losing one to us. Shame.

I’m not sure how you think Isak should’ve been handled, unless you think we should’ve put our foot down and said no. He went on strike before anyone had even bid for him, and we accepted the second bid. Our transfer business was ok, not great not terrible. Wissa and Elanga will turn out to be good signings IMO, but we did overpay, especially for Wissa. We got rinsed for Thiaw as well considering the Como situation, but he has looked ok so far. Jacob Ramsey is the only one that I think was a real mistake.

I think Gyokores will be a flat track bully. He’s obviously not particularly good but in that team he’ll rack up goals against bottom half teams.

It’s got to be tough refereeing Arsenal. Every 5 seconds they’re doing something dirty and if you actually crack down on them they’ll launch a media campaign to destroy your reputation.

Ramsey is always going to be in and out with injuries, he’ll never be relied on as a first team player IMO.

He’s a player you could build the team around, I can’t understand people not being impressed. He needs players that are better at linking up with him for quick give and goes around the box. I’d be thinking about a new LW next summer and a new AM in January.

The referee was poor and favoured Arsenal IMO, but it’s hard to feel too hard done to when we’ve played poorly and were second best. We seem to be looking for an alternative to the usual intense style of play so that we can avoid an injury crisis with all extra games this season, but the alternative doesn’t have to be this negative surely. I’ve been wanting us to evolve into a more possession based team for about 2 years now, but judging by our transfers this summer it’s not what we want. On Arsenal, they deserved the win but they also deserve the Stoke comparisons. They’re a really ugly football team to watch. Hopefully Man City can win the title this year.

We didn’t deserve the win, we need to learn to control possession. It can’t be 100% Howeball or sit back in our own box.

The financials around Grealish going to Everton are pretty wild considering he’s 30. £15m loan fee, £50m to make it permanent, and they’re paying 3/4 of his 300k per week wages.

The comparison was with Kane though. Was it not sneaky the way that Kane would back into defenders and bend over making them go flying over the top of him? We could all see what he was doing for a long time.

I love how he’s made up with Vieira but the mention of Shearer always has him rattled. What he’s saying doesn’t even make sense. Yeah you can argue Shearer could be nasty, but Kane spent years dumping defenders on their necks, and we don’t even need to mention what Keane was like.

Tbh I think they’ve found their striker in Ekitike and it’s more likely that Isak will be the one shipped to Saudi in a couple of years. You would have to be stupid to shift Ekitike from where he’s playing right now other than to give him a rest IMO.

The ballon d’or is like the Oscars, there’s a grimy campaign that happens behind the scenes for votes. It’s all garbage and I’d love it if a potential winner came out and said he doesn’t give a shit, give it to someone else.

Midfield is going to be a problem this season. We needed a refresh and a big signing, all we got was a player that will always be in and out of the squad with injuries.
