Some of the refs behaviour was bizarre, such as stopping the game while England was attacking because a French player went down holding their leg. Not exactly in the spirit of letting the game flow.

Sport is theatre, it’s never just been about who’s a good player and who’s a bad one, personality has always mattered. We like someone to root for and someone to root against. Unless Ronaldo is banging in the goals for your team there’s not much reason to like him IMO, and remaining neutral on such a big name seems boring.

His ego is part of what made him the player he was, but as his ability declined his ego didn’t. He was incapable of humbling himself and him thinking he was bigger than Man Utd, and using Piers Morgan to try and attack them, made him look rather silly. If he was more humble and willing to take a role suited to his current abilities he would still be wanted by some pretty big clubs in Europe. I think he is rated appropriately though, as the second best of his generation and a great goalscorer. I’m not sure what more he could ask for.

Still feel a bit sick. I considered France the best side in the competition from the start and we should’ve had them. We would’ve been the best side in the semis IMO, which I never thought I would say about England. On Southgate, I’m happy to stick with him until the Euros for lack of a better alternative. Fuck knows how much football Maguire will be playing in the future and our backup options are poor. Players like Mount, Grealish, and Sterling need to be put on notice, they haven’t been good enough lately. Maddison and Barnes should be given a decent amount of playing time before the euros.
