Jammy Steve strikes again. What a load of shite.

Gotta say I thought the Santos one was a worse tackle - watched the vid Wullie posted, and yeah, Thatcher kicks the shit out of his knees as he wildly swings his left leg at him. It is indeed an assault. But Santos, with malicious forethought, set out to butcher Johnson. He got off the ground, both feet studs up and connected full whack with Johnson’s trailing foot (and bonus style points have to go for Johnson’s fall). As a footballing tackle, I feel it’s worse...? ? It was the running elbow from Thatcher that was the problem.

Thatcher should never have played in the league again after that.

I think Declan Rice has the potential to be the next Eric Dier.

The new handball rule is easily the worst rule change we’ve ever seen. It’s going to be like that eggball nonsense where they fuck about trying to get more pens than eachother.
-
What absolute nonsense.
-
Trying to get handball pens is going to be our main attacking tactic this season.
-
If I was a manager I would tell my players they’ll never take a penalty again if they try some clever shit and miss.
-
That was a red IMO.

One good thing to come out of lockdown is the idea that Newcastle play badly because of crowd pressure has been proven to be bullshit.
-
He got £120k a week to be a backup. De Gea is never going to be bad enough to be permanently dropped IMO, and no one will be buying him with what they’re paying him. No one will be buying Henderson either on those wages I expect.

Shocker from Van Dijk

I find the financial situation at Everton a bit puzzling and I’m too lazy to look into it. People kept saying ffp would hold us back if the Saudi’s took over, yet they seem to have been operating with a blank cheque for a while now. Their wage bill must be big as well.

So this lad is behind Mustafi in the pecking order at Arsenal? He must be spectacular.
-
What about Senna?
-
I think a highlight reel would probably just consist of him heading it towards the center circle.
-
He’s been playing for Burnley, so Steve won’t have to worry about any technical nonsense like ball control or passing.

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.

This seems to me the obvious response to the morality argument when questioned by the press. Say it's fair enough if the premier league and it's members are going to put down a marker and be an ethical league going forward, no longer dealing with human rights abusers and companies owned by human rights abusers. But that's not going to happen is it? Wraith didn't even really criticise the premier league, even when talking to a presenter that didn't seem to understand the basics, and then gave the Saudi's the "great bunch of lads" treatment.
-
For me it comes down to whether it has resulted in less bad decisions, and I think the answer is clearly yes it has. The problem is the same incompetents that failed to officiate games before VAR are in charge of it. Giving up on it after one season would be a big step backwards IMO.

I reckon if you became a regular at The Den they'd think you're an undercover guardian journalist.
