  1. What do people think of leagues making concessions to teams in the Champions League? It really struck me as unsporting when Bordeaux were allowed to postpone their league match this weekend to prepare for the Champions League.
  2. Porto, Sporting, and Benfica are all decent teams. There's not much to say at all for the 13 or so others though. They are horrifically bad. Similar to Holland in that sense. I'd agree with all of those except for Romania. Then again they have some decent teams that have been getting results in Europe of late. edit: Holland is definitely worse than Portugal actually.
  3. Ukraine and Turkey are up for debate of you like, but Russia is quite clearly ahead of Portugal, with the money that has been pumped into that league. Russia is barely behind France and Germany at this point.
  4. England, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, Russia, Ukraine, Turkey, Holland. Didn't know he was at Toulouse, hows he doing? Always thought he was pretty s*** at Sheff Utd but seems to have forged a decent career for himself since he left. Maybe we should spunk big bucks on Arda Turan (not that he'd move) He only came over at the end of January so I've only seen him through highlights. But generally he's slotted diretly into the starting line of one of the better teams in France and scored a decent goal against Le Mans.
  5. Maybe it is just me, but it seems like the entire idea of naturalising players playing in a nation's league to play for the country is a ridiculous advantage to European teams and countries like Qatar with ridiculously lax citizenship standards.
  6. How about Kazim Kazim? Talented young player who knows the league. On loan at Toulouse right now which maybe means he would be available to buy.
  7. He's been a failure everywhere outside of Portugal (maybe the tenth best league in Europe), he has no business rejecting a Premiership team.
  8. You realise Gilberto Silva will be 34 next season. I wouldn't be averse if he came on a free for low wages (he wouldn't) but I wouldn't expect thim to be rampaging around the place.
  9. You inferred that buying two players would turn a Championship side into a mid-table one. I strongly disagree. Especially with the injuries that proliferate this club.
  10. You only want us to buy two players? This is Newcastle, man. DLC and Keane would collide with each other on their debuts and be out for months. A fit Barton is becoming an oxymoron at this point.
  11. I'd like either Keane or Pavlyuchenko at this club very much. I hesitate to say next season as we are definitely not promoted, yet. Hate when people presume that. However, knowing Spurs they'll want more than 10 million pounds for both players. They are not happy selling a player unless they have robbed the other team blind. We probaly should steer clear.
  12. I like the look of Issiar Dia. Plays at AS Nancy. Quick little player that can play on the right or upfront.
  13. Nothing to do with that. Purely is based on numbers. UEFA uses a coefficient based on the performance of teams from that nation. Ukraine are an example of a league that has gained in the rankings. They're 7th now, right behind the five traditional powers and Russia.
  14. Wolfsburg and PSG (as per usual) Underachieving or s****? Usually I'd say they were just rubbish, but we play them next weekend. Don't want to tempt fate. Honestly, they're not great but they have more talent than the likes of Monaco, Auxerre, and Montpellier who are fighting for Europe and the title. Somehow between this year and last, Wolfsburg forgot how to defend.
  15. That's brilliant, man! Rubbish being in the championship. I can't even find our goals, yet. Still a 3-0 win does me just fine. Happy with the result, even if I still haven't seen anything of the game.
  16. I don't understand why people rubbish the Kez Man for claiming more than one naton. It's possible to have to have a heritage from a certain nation and be a citizan of another. Nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage.
  17. Just looking at livescore, both received red cards four minutes after receiving a yellow.
  18. In an ideal world, we wouldn't have any of this nonsense. It's an embarassment to football at all levels that someone like N'Zogbia could suit up for England. He has no connection with the place other than working there.
  19. 1-0 at home isn't a great result at all. I wouldn't be surprised to see them go out.
  20. Sweet finish from Ben Arfa. 2-1 Marseille. He was brilliant at Lille, definitely and looked decent the last ACN, but has generally been disappointing since getting his big money move. 3-1. Charles Kabore.
  21. Probaly something to do with him being disasterously bad at Lyon. Massive waste of money.
  22. That first leg against Alkmaar was absolutely brilliant. Shame about the second one though.
  23. I've just seen the Porto goals. Fabianski is terrible, man. Didn't even seem like Porto threatened other than the two goals they were gifted. In all honesty I feel like Sol should have dealt with that ball himself. All of that waiting made the situation awkward. Then again, that's what you deserve for starting Sol Campbell in a Champions League match. Wenger should be embarassed.
  24. Throwing around three match bans for bad tackles is a bit ridiculous, imo. Bans should only come in for excessively violent or dangerous conduct.
