Leyton Orient 6 - 1 Newcastle United - 25/07/09

Meh...it's preseason. As long as the players are getting fitness, all is well. -
Wolfsburg.

Don't you have ESPN in the UK? It's live on ESPN's main channel here, so I don't know why it wouldn't be broadcast on their world wide channels. Local Hero...any reason you have Gatti's death in your up photo.

Kinnear was a huge pile of w*** shitting itself, but even he knew Ashley wasn't putting any money for strikers out there. After Martins leaves, Shola is our senior forward. Our most experienced option. Might as well see if that power of positivity stuff actually works. I don't think its a coincidence that the few months Shola has busted a gut and performed where the few months at the end of his Youth Contract (which earned him a Pro Deal) and the few months at the end of his original deal (which earned him a new deal). He'll do enough to get by and little else. He's not getting by though. He was pretty much the fifth choice striker at a relegated club. He's hanging on for dear life....lazily.

Don't see why DD has sold Ziani and decided to keep Valbuena and Cana out in the cold. All three our good players and Ziani is one of my favorites. They would be great options from the bench, Ziani and Cana especially. Guess he must fund these transfers someway. Cana is the best midfielder at Sunderland easily. Great fit in the Premiership. Should be at a better club. No way Sunderland get Mbi'a btw. He turned down Everton, so why would he go there.

Chelsea vs. AC Milan tonight in Baltimore. Disappointed to not be going tonight. Had two tickets that I got on the very cheap, but the economic side of my brain caused me to scalp them for a much higher price. I'll watch on television probaly.
-
That's just a joke. He probaly shouldn't have been going to jail or anything, but for him to actually get off of all charges is just insane. It is an insult to the intelligence of the British populace. All of you should be insulted.
-
No one's saying he's world class. He's just a pretty damn good player. Sunderland don't have any of those at the moment. It's funny because he was being tracked by Wolfsburg, Stuttgart, Arsenal, and Tottenham. I seriously don't know how he's ended up there. On Football Manager? I'm with Mowen on this one, where the f*** do you geeks find the time to watch all of these leagues?! It's not like they play in some obscure third world country. They play in Ligue 1. I support Marseille so I've seen Cana a million times, and Chamakh had been at Bordeaux for years. Marouane is a really really good player. I'm not sure he's the striker Arsenal need, his strike rate isn't that great, but he has all the physical tools is very skillful and will play well within the team and be a creator as well.
-
Cana is quality, watched him at Marseille probaly a hundred times. One of the best Albanian players out there right now. Hard tackling big man that will be a force in any midfield. Also, he's a ticking timebomb who is liable to get sent off at every second. I wasn't all that disappointed to see him leave Marseille (second straight captain to leave for the north-east of England) but I am angry that he has gone to Sunderland of all places.
-
Don't understand how Everton is really all that much more attractive than Spurs anyway. Spurs have a better location, are probaly more well known and more potential for growth. Not their fault Everton refuse to spend when they need to.
-
Martins or Jonas. They're both some of our most desirable players and unlke Bassong they really don't owe anything to this club.
-
How do you figure this? He's gotten the hell out of that insane situation and has gone to a very decent club that will complete for a title next year as well as playing in the Champions League. If he plays well, he'll probaly have the option of going to a "huge" club. If anythin he's messed up by staying in the Erevedisie (wrong spelling) so long.

What happened to that rule which stopped Cousin moving last summer? Does it not apply to the big clubs? I would have thought Robbie Keanes was the same, fair enough returning to a club but that wasnt the rule was it? Does this rule even exist? I can't think of one instant when it's been used. It applies during the same season.
-
This is all very true, but given his reputation and age, would it really surpirse you if he was the third choice for one of the more massive clubs?
-
I don't think Oba would be that bad at Arsenal in all honesty. That's a thing I think is wierd about us, we've gone down because we were an absolutely disgusting and wretched team, but quite a few of our players would fit in alright at some top clubs I think. Jonas, Bassong, Oba, Owen, Enrique, Beye, Barton, Krul, etc. (There actually isn't anyone else, but etc. sounds better)
-
Tbh I don't think Arsenal will do any worse this year, if they don't sign a striker, but they have the potential to really accomplish something if they spend that money well.
-
Those all look like very good signings to me in all honesty. Out of those there, the only one they paid over the odds for was Veron. It's Newcastle problem that they decided not to buy anyone.
-
What? You won't be able to take them seriously because their team spent alot of money and found success. Honestly fell good for the long time supporters who have suffered with that club. It will be obvious who the gloryhunters are. However, I do dislike the way they're going about it compared to Chelsea. They brought players that could be built up and we're a club like Newcastle that, do to many favorable factors, had potential to become a major force in English football. It just seemed more real to me. With City I don't know. It just seems like the money comes from a bunch of faceless people and is spent in ways that are not even conceivable. It's more the wages they're handing out that
-
To be expected in all honesty. The club is in chaos at this moment in time, and players leaving/arriving would only serve to add to this chaos.
-
That's certainly "effective use of the ball"

Jose Enrique the latest to come out in public..
Segun Oluwaniyi replied to ianovthetoon's topic in Football
Enrique is a talented player in the prime of his career, who is being pursued by attractive clubs, and was treated poorly for a large part of his time here. I have nothing against him for wanting to leave. -
Shola would struggle to score in a Newcastle Online match.
-
Alfonso Alves scored 7 in a match twice I believe. So I wouldn't take to much from one-off performances. New TV deal. (all on pay channels) Also, we have a legitimate chance of a three of four way title race next season, and teams are gearing up. Champions League success is desired as well.
-
It's all in good fun man. People who actually get angry at the computer, might want to have a look at themselves. Do feel some of the criticism is unfair though. We've definitely improved ourselves. Hell, the last few groups of players have had....growth spurts....GROWTH SPURTS!!!! As for Yakubu..he's never looked old at all to me. Just fat...very fat. DJ...if you mean Haruna...he failed at Barca...than found moderate success in places like Greece and Ukraine (or Rusia maybe). He is currently either failing or finding moderate success in some far off country in either some obscure country in Europe or the Middle East (can't remember)
