Has anyone discussed the possibility that the likes off Gouffran, Obertan, Williamson have been getting so much friendly time precisely because they are the players that he doesn't rate and wants to see if they have any hope at all? Hopefully Mr Shoemaker sorts out our voodoo injury crisis once and for all, which in that case wouldn't make a squad size of 20-22 too stretched.

Centre Mid and full back should be relatively similar skill set wise anyway. Lots of players have been able to play both. Not comparing Bigi to Lahm, Zanetti or Essien, but the point stands.

I disagree with that, Colo was supposed to be the 'leader by example'. To me footballing leadership is all about organising, motivating, accountable and vocal. Basically see Terry, John. I think Carragher was a far better 'captain' than Gerrard, for example.

Yeah, Jordan is just OK. Good pace, aggressive player, and decent dribbler, but he isn't a particularly good finisher, imo, has very little physical presence and is not very intelligent at all. I think he will contribute at Villa, tbf, and is young enough to improve quite a bit, but it is an underwhelming response to selling their two best players. Amavi has a lot of talent, though I'm not sure moving to Villa is the best option for his development. Sounds like him and Gabby will be sharing finishing tips then.

Sissoko's spot in this team will be wide right or not at all.
