What? Do you honestly believe what you're typing? Struggling to understand what you're seeing in his post-Twente career. Definitely read your post as 'Since his Twente record is pretty poor' - Thought it was another post undermining the acheivement of winning the dutch league. But anyway, he failed in short stints at Wolfsburg and Forest, the others he has done well. Derby have a good squad (shocking defence mind), but Norwich had the best by a mile.

I'd agree with this. I don't. and why on earth must a coach be British anyway? as for the bold, it is not excellent by a long way. he's an uninspirinig coach that has zero charisma, of whom i can see players getting completely bored with, has zero plan B, he won a league cup with Boro, at a time when nobody but bolton, Leicester and the likes took it seriously and fluked his way to a UEFA cup final, before getting absolutely murdered in it. he failed at Derby, Forest, Wolfsburg and the 2nd time at Twente, he won the league in Holland which is the Dutch equivalent of the SPL. I didn't say he had to be british, I just said he's the best. The rest of your post is horrendous, you can't write off a cup win simply saying no-one else took it seriously. If it was that easy then more teams would have tried to win it. He failed at Wolfsburg and Forest but only had half a season in charge of each. He has a win % over 50 in both Twente spells and had a fantastic spell in charge at Derby. I don't particularly want McClaren but he gets an unfairly rough deal due to the England debacle, and his managerial talent level deserves to be managing in the Premier League.

I don't particularly want McClaren, but he is the best British coach around. Some of the childish hate on here is frightening. His CV is excellent.

Not sure Derby had the best squad in the championship A damn sight better than a few of the sides who finished above them though. The bit about the Dutch league is total bollocks mind The whole post is complete rubbish really.

If you subscribe to the idea that fans know their own club better than anyone else, then yes, he did. It depends who the fans are, we literally had half of our fan base beating the Alan Pardew drum up until last year. Plenty at the ground still supported him blindly, but close to 0 on any forum I read backed Pardew. Seems like most Derby fans on their various forums think he had them playing really well and doing well. Until his lack of denials towards our interest took his eye off the ball and they went to shit (again Derby fans opinions not mine). I'm not going to let that make me believe he's a good manager. But I think it supports the opinion that he's much better than Pardew. This is the view that I hear too.

The reason I don't want McClaren is that if he really wanted the job, he'd have come in January. Now it's like we're his fallback option compared to Derby. But I don't particularly want Garde either.
-
So why did they sack him ? The form after Xmas was disgraceful and the common thinking is that the players lost focus after we tried to poach McClaren. They also have new ambitious owners willing to take a punt on an unproven manager.

I live/work in Derby, speak to Derby fans on a daily basis and been to a few of their games under SMC. The football played was light years ahead of Pardew, Carver, Pulis, Fat Sam etc etc. You can't say he failed at Derby either, he essentially got Nigel Clough's perennial 15th place finishing squad into the playoff final.
-
I've said it before, but a lot of unjust McClaren hate here. Derby played some great stuff under him and he's clearly evolved as a manager since his smog days.

What's your definition of decent man, christ. Rather keep Sammy as a backup than spunk 3-4mil on a similarly talented championship winger.
-
Hope he goes on to have a couple of injury free seasons before he retires, deserves it after the injuries struck.
-
Thanks Jonas, you legend.
-
Decent player, sensible decision.
-
I don't want Laudrup at all.
-
Just not the usual negative, long ball merchant typical 'Football' man. These dinosaurs have poisoned the league for far too long.
-
Spot on shearer.
-
He doesn't really need to be there in fairness. But yeah, hiding behind the defender is pretty moronic.
-
A lot of unjust McClaren hate here. Has a better CV than most premier league managers.
-
It's easier to just say I agree with everything Neville and Carragher said last night. He's 20 years old ffs, this is the act of a genuine moron.
-
20 years old rejecting 100k a week, doing stomach churning interviews and getting his agents to release shit to the press? It's so fucking snidey and underhand. If he wants to leave just come out and say it.
-
Jonas has been better than Colback since he's come back in, not that that's saying much.

I'm sorry, but are you saying every manager in Europe is too thick to buy Ben Arfa? I remember someone saying earlier in this thread that it was the fault of every manager Ben Arfa has played under that he hasn't achieved his true potential. Sorry, but this is ridiculous. "It's everybody's fault except Hatem's that he isn't playing for a top club". I can only speak for his time in England and being managed by Pardew and Bruce. Those 2 for some unknown reason hold respect in the game, and most of their equally thick as fuck former teammates are brown-nosing them at every chance in the media. At least half the premier league managers are vile mixtures of arrogance and incompetence, so yes, yes it is their fault.

Anita doesn't have the brain to be a tempo setter. It's just not his game.
