We have talented players, what's holding us back and has done for the last 4-6 years is the naïve tactical approach. A possession based 4-2-3-1 isn't going to work properly without a deep playmaker and most of the play features the ball circulating between Dier, Henderson, Stones and Cahill until one of them inevitably launches a long ball and loses it. How someone like Shelvey isn't in this team is beyond me.

I prefer supporting a Rafa led team (even with MA ownership) and wanting us to do well and win every week than how toxic it was with Pardew and MA and wanting us to lose. I think it's possible to disconnect the on and off pitch sides of the club when they both contrast such different emotions, I know some won't be able to do this but that's my view. Ultimately it comes down to people enjoying themselves.

I'm less worried about Rafa leaving for West Ham, going from working for Mike Ashley to working for David Gold / Sullivan is like Sophie's choice.

I still think Rafa will keep this squad up with his eyes closed, however we will always think what could have been if Ashley and chums actually cared about the club.

Mitro has only been charged due to his reputation and the fact it was highlighted by every major media outlet, although you can counter that by saying he's made a rod for his own back in the first place to get that reputation. He needs to be far smarter in the same way that Shelvey does and make sure he can start to earn the trust of Rafa. I do think that out of all of our players under Rafa, he's the one that's got a bit of a raw deal though.

The problem would just be multiplied. The real issue is that Gayle looks fucked and isn't offering anything, which is why no one else has any space. May as well have played Mitrovic yesterday just to hold the ball up a bit.

It looked exactly like an 11 that had never played together. The issue wasn't helped by playing the wingers the wrong way round and Mbemba at left back.

He was the best player in the front 4 yesterday, obviously that's not saying much. Joselu looks like a technical striker with clever movement so in theory that should help a player like Perez who is more of a second striker than a true #10.
