  1. 'Goals' is not the only metric with which to measure strikers.

    Steve McClaren

I read an article the other day about Italian managers and the way they are taught, it contained numerous quotes highlighting the importance of teaching the player to make the right decision under pressure. There's no way our young players can be receiving that kind of coaching.

    Steve McClaren

He's not exactly wrong in saying that the majority of modern English players are thick as pigshit and can't think for themselves.
  4. Guarantee there would still be articles praising him for being "brave" enough to take on the challenge managing abroad Like getting praise for making 'brave' subs when you're 2-0 down at home.
  5. He'll have a buy back fee for Barca, you'd assume.
  6. With big businesses in other industries it tends to be a massive fine and a fall guy who gets sent to have his arse tickled in the showers. Hopefully it's just that and nothing to do with points / transfer ban.
  7. The awareness and intelligence shown in those quotes is so refreshing.

    Wayne Rooney

Rooney was finished 3 years ago and the idea of him making any meaningful contribution next season for us, or anyone else, is laughable.

    Jamaal Lascelles

Seems to me like he's trying too hard to cover for everyone around him rather than just focusing on his own job.
  10. Let's not forget that Rafa would have comfortably had us stay up in the Premier League with more time, and that team was basically: Darlow, Anita, Lascelles, Mbemba, Dummett, Colback, Tiote, Townsend, Sissoko, Wijnaldum, Cisse. Basically, our worries should not be the competence of Rafa Benitez, they should be the competence of those above him.

    Dogawful Officiating

Turns out he was before getting demoted 7 years ago for being shite.
  12. I'll assume Gayle doesn't give their player a sly nudge or anything like that?

Keith Stroud is a Premier League referee anyway isn't he?
  14. What are Derby playing at? The squad is a complete mess and they're about to appoint their 6th manager in 12 months.
  15. It's a pretty definite stamp like. Can absolutely understand Ibra looking for revenge.
  16. Alright Charnley. What do you mean by that? We sold all of our best players and made a profit of over £30m. It has to be factored in. Of course we should be doing better with the players we have, but I expected our squad to be far stronger at the start of September and we're paying the price a bit now for the lack of genuine quality in several positions. We have a better squad than everyone in this league (I'll say better team aswell) which aren't helped by tactics that don't get the best from the personnel. I think that notation of us having the best squad is coming under serious fire. The midfield minus 2-3 players is awful. Colback man, I wouldn't wish him onto my enemies. Because other teams would adapt their tactics to losing a player or so. Central midfield we have Shelvey, Hayden , Anita, Colback and Diame. Can other teams in this division lose 2 or 3 in a position and still be playing near first choices ? Chomp. With Shelvey out and Anita (correctly) being used exclusively as a fullback, that leaves only Colback, Hayden and Diame to play in three central midfield roles. It's clearly a position we need to address and not the strongest in the league.
  17. Rubbish - says far more about the pathetic state of the squad when Rafa took over than an assessment based on one transfer window.
  18. A few typical matchday overreactions as per, but there's definitely a worrying trend emerging when we don't score first against teams with a spoiler mentality. The squad lacks creativity outside of Shelvey and we should really be targeting a CM, Winger and #10 in January.
  19. By some absolute miracle I've managed to get myself up to 129th in the world. Almost tempted to whack it on the CV.
  20. Appears I've hit top of the N-O table for the first time ever. As I'll probably tail off from here, just thought I'd mention it. 115 point week helps.
  21. That reads like it was accompanied by an nice inflammatory pat on the head.
  22. It gives me great pleasure to see this tosser fail on the biggest stage time and time again. Kick and rush footballer.
  23. clearly i can't answer this question does it actually matter either way? if the implications are that she only says those things and acts that exact way when she's unable to consent then the two witnesses would be up for rape as well Yes it did, the other witnesses said she woke up in the morning and couldn't remember stuff just like she said to the police about the Evans case. I imagine the only difference was that Evans et al had fucked off by the morning so she woke up confused and alone whereas the other blokes had stayed with her. Once again, none of that proves or disproves rape but it does once again show the basis for the initial conviction was madness.
  24. That would be unusual for him, if anything he could be guilty of holding the ball too long previously. In any case I trust Rafa's judgement 100% and if he keeps on picking him and we keep winning, fuck what anyone else thinks. It was a brief 5 minute spell around 70 minutes and you could just tell Diame knew he was having a stinker. He did make a few poor decisions on the counter attack by holding the ball too long as well. The general lack of anticipation was the main frustration for me, caught on his heels countlessly when he should have been on the move.
