  1. Don't we also have to consider the fact that in the next few seasons we'll probably go back to making a loss and budget for that? Because we won't sell another player for £30m I mean. I don't know much about business accounting, so humour me please! We should be able to avoid losses if we stay in the Premiership and run on our current model.
  2. I'd got the cash profit at about £40 million for 10/11 but I realise that's not your main point . There are only 3 possibilities - investment in the squad, expenditure on club facilities or reducing Ashley's loan.
  3. What are the benefits of him taking the Carroll money out V leaving it in the club? What are the benefits of him taking the Carroll money out V leaving it in the club? It all seems a bit confusing because whatever's in the club (player assets, money) is his anyway, but as he's been charitable by not charging interests on the loans, it would (I presume) be in his interests to reduce those loans and put the money elsewhere? None of us know the ins and outs of Ashley's tax situation or even what his attitude is to this loan. But yes, at first glance, you would have to think that's spot on.
  4. I think plenty of others would though tbh.
  5. That's gone though and I've said it loads of times, Ashley, or his mouth piece keeps telling us that he's not taking money out. At this time the club is running at a profit, by that I mean this financial year as I have always recognised what he has put in up until now. The club must have made a profit in the year ended June 2011 in both cash and accounting terms. I predict heated discussions on here at some point on whether repayment of a loan is taking money out of the club or not......
  6. Heard the same discussion. Barton could finally be the man to replace Viera type chat. Clueless.....
  7. That is his right under his contract. Not sure he will do when Ashley refuses his name on the squad registration which will surely be the only outcome of the past few days, if they wont let him train with the players they sure as f*** wont let him play alongside them. In which case he spends next season not playing any football, sitting at home twittering whilst being paid a fortune to do it. That suits no one, but he and the club are both in an entrenched psychotic mode so you can't rule it out. It is beyond ridiculous - at times like this I really wonder why I follow a sport where crap like this happens. It is the morbid fascination of watching a car crash in slow motion I suppose. Barton has been a crisis waiting to happen ever since the contract negotiations broke down, there's no way he could just quietly play out his contract, he craves attention too much to do that.
  8. I hope so, just wish we demanded a fee for him, easily worth £3m of anyones money. No one wanted him though, apparently no enquiries all summer. They want rid that badly that they are prepared to give him away. Look at his track record for making the wrong sort of headlines and you can see why. Whatever side you are on in this particular debacle it's still another load of crap press and it's all about Joey Barton. What club needs to take the risk of something kicking off again and would they pay money to take that risk? Good footballer but you might get a load of serious grief with it.
  9. I'm not arsed where he goes. When he was in prison or injured I've posted on here that he was the best player in our squad and I took flak for it back then. I stand by that judgement, but you cannot rely on him, he will always let you down - Keegan said as much about their time together at Man City. Reformed character? He may be off the drink and having anger management counselling but he'll still find ways to behave like a c*nt.
  10. http://i54.tinypic.com/28jfji9.jpg Goodbye then.....
  11. My understanding (and it is just that) is based on being unable to see why the club would have initiated discussions on a new 4 or 5 year contract. There was still two years to go on his previous contract and he would be 30 years old when that one expired.
  12. My understanding is that he had two years left on his contract but he and/or his agent were looking for a longer commitment from the club and asked for a new contract. The rest is history. If you know different and can prove it I'm in. Can you prove he asked for it rather than the club offering it? Either way, if they didn't think he was worth one then why carry on discussions in the first place? They've acted like c***s yet again, irrespective of whether we agree on the final outcome or not. No I can't. This is the quote I have seen which fails to mention who initiated the discussions, although if the club had done so you'd think he'd mention it as it gives even more strength to his gripe. Maybe there is another quote that makes it clearer? “From January and shortly following the sale of Andy Carroll to Liverpool, I was involved in ongoing discussions about signing a new contract between four and five years."

  14. MA does watch the matches but it is Llambias who handles the day to day running of the club. As such he is the one charged with implementing the financial policy and also fronting dealings with players and agents. I'm sure the job can be done without pissing everyone off and, without doubt, he is a massive failure.
  15. You look around at some of the things that happen in football and you wonder what is a normal way to run a football club. Some of the decisions owners/boards make are baffling to put it mildly and the way they implement them even more so. However it's hard to disagree with your point that Ashley's regime has created more havoc than most. I think he could put quite a lot right by simply replacing Llambias with someone who knows what they are doing.
  16. Everyone knows what came out at that tribunal, everyone knows what sort of an owner we have, everyone knows Llambias is a slimy c*nt. But the reality is that this is an industry full of despicable people and yet people still seem surprised that we aren't owned and run by angels. Look at Spurs hanging a decent manager/person like Martin Jol out to dry, and lying about Berbatov. Look properly at what the Glazers are doing at Man United. Look at Abramovich controlling transfer policy at Chelsea, sacking assistant managers and completely undermining Ancelotti (another decent man/manager). Anyone like the idea of Al Fayed, Carson Yeung or Sullivan and Gold? And does anyone really think those chicken boys at Blackburn know what they are doing? Check out great ex owners like Hicks and Gillet, Thaksin Shinawatra. Then you have the perennially unpopular owners past and present - Doug Ellis and the Everton lot spring to mind. Oh yes and there's good old Steve Gibson at Middlesbrough, an absolute gent by all accounts, I can't remember what happened to his football club though. I could go on but that will do. And I hate to bring it up but our previous owners weren't perfect. Ashley bought the club at a critical time when no one else would, he stuck his own money in and has funded his own cock ups. I can handle the venom you can get on here for posting anything that doesn't completely rubbish anything and everything the club does. But anyone who won't even entertain the idea that we could end up with someone worse is deluded imo.
  17. Anyone genuinely dissing Zog as a player is talking out of their arse (and tbh not many people on here are), attitude is a question mark but that's all down to the manager. Anyway it seems obvious that our interest in Zog ceased the moment Marveaux signed, the punt being that we've got something similar for no capital outlay.....
  18. A lot of fans do think like that these days, they have been brainwashed into thinking like little mini accountants rather than football fans. Look at this board for absolute proof Agree - full of c*nts trying to add up to £35 million. Easy. Ba's agent - £2m. Marveaux signing on fee - £1m New dugouts and seating areas - £1m New tarmac - £31m Missed the point perhaps - or reinforced it? The real debate has to be whether the squad is stronger or weaker than last year. Ba had a good scoring ratio in THE PREMIERSHIP for a fairly shyte relegated team. He has a bit of injury history, maybe he has replaced Caroll, who also put up a good scoring ratio and (recently) also has incurred some injuries. Carroll is younger and, in a certain style of play, can p*ss on any defence. I think we have to see how that one pans out but, in Demba Ba, we've got a player who can score goals at this level. It does sound like we are also trying to sign another striker we think is of better quality than anyone else we have. Next - Cabaye for Nolan, what do you think? Cabaye is a risk of course, unproven in the Premiership but imo Nolan wasn't going to improve from his form in the early part of last season and a new 4 or 5 year contract at his age - why would you? Marveaux is another unknown but he has replaced no one at present so right now looks like a genuine addition, of course we may shift Routledge and I'm ok with that exchange. Like all of us I don't know what's going on with the left back situation, so really can't say much right now. So someone will ask never mind replacing what we had what about some strength in depth? Cliche time - but we didn't have Ben Arfa or Gosling last season. God willing we will have them this season. We do need a defender to replace Campbell I think. Ashley. Llambias, Pardew stand accused of being sh*ts, liars etc etc etc etc etc but that's the way it is in football. If you don't like it go support a netball team. They don't stand accused, this has been proven on more than one occasion. I'm not an accountant and even I knew that! Fair point it has been proven, but tbf I wasn't trying to suggest that they aren't sh*ts and liars. Edit: I do actually think Pardew is ok, plus he's got the difficult job of being the club spokesman.

  21. Hence Ashley's fury about the whole saga..... I see, in that case do you reckon he was even more furious with himself after his fuckwitted decisions lead to relegation and a far bigger loss of revenue than anything Jose has done? What a bizarre reaction Did you interpret my post as Ashley love or something? Of course Ashley's mistakes have cost us more revenue than Jose's outburst. But people like Ashley don't look back at mistakes they make and get furious with themselves ffs. They do look at what other people do that affects their wedge and that's why he has been reported as being "furious". f*** knows what you're banging on about. I was simply asking if Ashley was even more angry at himself after costing the club tens of millions compared to the maybe 2 or 3 by Jose And I answered the question.
