  1. It's more things he has said in the past and been completely proven wrong about. "I promise Carroll wont leave", "All the money will be reinvested back into the team" etc. If Nolan's "comments" are true about how unhappy he was with Pardew not fighting for him then that's worrying too, as he's said in the past he wanted to keep him. It is the way it works, so why should we be the only ones playing it straight? Look around at the crap other clubs come out with. Example: Read what Levy said about Berbatov (and other players) leaving, he knew Berbatov was gone, it was purely designed to talk the price up. Look at the false outrage expressed when players (and managers) are tapped up by clubs that do exactly the same thing themselves. You could also read what Levy and Redknapp have said about Modric leaving and let's see where that one ends up. This is a multi million pound industry and people spout all sorts of shyte to get selling prices jacked up, players to perform, players to join their club, keep fans onside etc etc etc. It is what happens, it is an industry with no integrity and we have gone beyond any justification for moral outrage.
  2. Would the club be more marketable as a bunch of bargain basement nobodies kicking around with the dregs of the premier league, or being on foreign TV every week playing good football with exciting players? Seems like the kind of people willing to invest in a football club are not really people who get their excitement from balance sheets alone. Well I don't think we have a squad consisting of "a bunch of bargain basement nobodies". I don't think Ashley gets his excitement from the balance sheet alone and I'm sure no potential buyer would either. But unless you are talking about a Man City type scenario then the finances do matter to some extent. Why hasn't a club like Everton been sold? They consistently finish in the top half of the table, have a loyal fan base, good manager etc etc. The fact is that in their case they need a new stadium and no potential owner to date has wanted to fund that.
  3. Only way to preserve your sanity. Ignoring reality is a symptom of insanity not a cure. Unpalatable as it may seem the best chance we have of getting new ownership is for Ashley to get the debt to a lower level (or at least stop it increasing) thus making the club more marketable. Those who have a zero/low tolerance of Ashley would surely welcome that?
  4. No other owner has stuffed £150 million into the club tbf.
  5. There may be something in what you say. But do you think we should have offered his best mate the contract he wanted?

I think he's going to be our version of the "false nine" – like Messi or Tevez, in their different ways – and, yes, should wear the No.10 shirt. Agree. Another false 9 was CRonaldo when he first joined Real Madrid. Now wearing a more appropriate 7.

    Alan Pardew

It's a good shout. He is a guaranteed starter if available, he has respect, he knows the club well and he doesn't mouth off in public. He probably earns more than any other player as well. Top dog...
  8. Dunno - I think he's given it too large with the talkin/twitter stuff. I'd vote for your hope but sense that there would have to be some really serious giving way from both sides.
  9. Fuckin Hell Man Are you for real. Its not even fuckin July Yet you Ponce!

I like Pardew but can still agree with a lot of that post. Football management is a dirty and complex art and you don't get anywhere by being the "good soldier" and playing it straight, can you name me a good manager who has? You have to get a performance out of squad players (one of Souness' biggest failings imo), keep the squad on their toes and ship players when the time is right or when they no longer fit into what you are trying to do. All good managers do that and it involves being Machiavellian at times.

Not arsed about Birmingham - as for Chris Hughton he's a good man in a fairly shitty industry so he deserves a break, but I'll not be partying if he does well or losing any sleep if it all goes pear shaped.
  12. From the bigsam twitter: "Typical. A few minutes of innocently sniffing the toilet seat in Karren Brady's office and now I've got Herpes labialis all over my mouth."

I've never been convinced on his ability as a manager, but I'm pleased for him that he's got a chance to show what he can do. The squad he's got will be strong by Championship standards - but not light years better than the others as ours was. It'll be a good test.

WHAT IS THAT ? They probably come from another planet... strange langage I also remember i listened an interview of Kevin Nolan a few months ago and his accent was really... strange. It is sure that if i go to North Engalnd i would be lost I feel ashamed you've seen that. Yup - it's like you seriously soil your kecks and someone posts a youtube vid of the end result.
  15. We have already signed and are being linked with midfielders who don't look like they would be here to be squad players. There is a process going on here imo and there will be fallout. I'd love Jonas to stay, come off the bench, and scare the crap out of the opposing defence in the final 25 minutes but I'm not sure we are prepared to finance that sort of luxury at this stage. He could easily go.

To who belong the voice in the video ? (the man speaking) Is this a Newcastle accent ? Because i don't understand any word he is saying lol Really? It's not even that broad a geordie accent, in fact it's quite coherent as far as geordie goes. But aye, as mentioned above it's Steve Stone. It is quite coherent to us. I remember doing my A level in French and spending some time in Paris to learn the language. I was getting on ok and had started to pick up what was going on in conversations and was getting some good dialogue going. The family I was with then took me down south (or Midi as the French call it) and it was like I had landed on another planet - I hadn't got a f*cking clue what was going on. The accent was totally off the wall to my ears.

I think we got lucky with Ashley and Llambias compared to what Birmingham have ended up with. And, I freely admit this is a personal thing, I have never met a single Birmingham City fan who wasn't a grade A bellend.

It's a horrible cesspit of a club - but I can only wish him well.
  20. Trouble is the fat c*nt has to write something to fill up the newspaper and the Nolan story has had a lot of coverage so he's obviously going to go for it. Ignoring the pro West Ham stuff in that article, there are are plenty of people who think what he says about Nolan leaving us is bang on the money (our own fans included). So it's an obvious angle for a journalist to take. It would have been far more original if he'd said Newcastle would have been mad to offer Nolan a 5 year contract on £50k a week or more and contracts like that have caused the club to be stuck with expensive hasbeens (and neverweres) well past the time that were any use to the club. But if he'd written that it would be implying that West Ham have again fallen for the same type of thinking that saddled them with Dyer, McCarthy, Boa Morte, Ljundberg etc. and which led to their previous financial meltdown.
  21. Maybe the number Cabaye is going to get is held by an existing player who will be leaving and the club didn't want to let a cat out of a bag?
  22. A cheapskate signing that is so typical of this regime, why aren't we spending the Carroll money, where's the ambition ffs?
