    Alan Pardew

I´m very nervous to see what type of players he will bring. really nervous. I don't know why - he made some very good signings at West Ham.
  2. Another fantastic performance last night, going back to Pardew and that interview I thought Tiote did get forward a bit more last night. Did I imagine it did he have an attempt on goal from somewhere near their penalty area? If so it may be a first.
  3. Apart from a miscued header early on his finishing was, to coin a phrase, clinical.
  4. Harsh, he was surrounded by shyte and was the only player who turned up for them tonight.

    3 to go down

Pissed off at Wolves tbh - saw them as certainties. WTF is going on at Chelsea?
  6. What did Stoke pay for Jermaine Pennant? £1.5 million? Wayne is 5 times the player Pennant is?
  7. Someone saw something in Best which none of us have seen and you can only hope they were right. Simpson didn't look much of a player in the Championship but has shown he's ok at this level, so you never know. It isn't going to be easy for Best to impress if he is only going to get limited chances, he has hardly played any football for about 7 months tbf.
  8. I think it will be Levy rather than 'Arry tbh - and yes I could well believe that's the negotiating tactic. We are well used to brinkmanship as can be seen with the original Ben Arfa loan deal, but Levy wrote the book on the subject.
  9. Got bored with the Carroll to Spurs stuff and went back a couple of years to read the first few pages of this thread - far more entertaining
  10. http://www.journallive.co.uk/nufc/newcastle-united-news/2011/01/05/the-festive-fixture-list-is-not-a-drag-for-ace-tiote-61634-27933985/ This has to be the standout quote from that interview: “I’d say he isn’t quite ready yet (to move to a “bigger” club), not as much as Andy (Carroll) would be anyway,”
  11. Too much stuff said really. Read the interview, although he bigs up Tiote there's no need for AP to tell the world about what he wants him to do to progress. He's been a beast for us this season, one of our most influential players, thats all the public needs to know. Its definitely a change from the Hughton style of interview "I am aware of the player and also the rumours that he's done well for us but I can't comment any further at this moment......"

    Sol Campbell

I heard a whisper that he's been behaving like a right bitch since CH left. It sounds like a full on sulk - missing training, turning up late etc. and in general being far from the "model pro".
  13. Just read that, couldn't stop laughing. But Hodgson will probably be managing Crystal Palace by the time any deal is done.
  14. Well I think the skilful prick would add something. KK fitted Barton in on the left and we're now playing him down the right. Barton isn't a winger he's only doing that job because he's one of our best players and we are finding a place to get him in the side around what else we've got. He is really a central midfielder. Routledge can kill a left back for pace but his delivery is shall we say inconsistent. Bentley will put good crosses in, can pick a pass, and can score goals btw. I still don't know what to believe about this rumour but if it comes off its ok by me.
  15. And the winner is...... Andy Carroll. Carroll has looked like a proper player for longer than Simpson. Only have to go back to February to see people calling him to be dropped Without trawling the threads - do you mean Simpson or AC? I remember plenty on here were not in favour of Simpson getting a contract when he did. Carroll. And again can't be arsed to trawl - but what were people saying about Simpson?
  16. Nah - you could see Carroll had it, Barton was a very good player who ran the show at Man City and is now getting back to what he was. Simpson looked ordinary in the Championship but now looks like he can play well at this level. No contest.

  19. The standard of MLS is so shyte he doesn't need to prep for it. More like a high profile opportunity to promote "Beckham the brand" and at the same time give whatever club he goes to an opportunity to pick up some extra wonga on shirt sales and gate money. Then if this bloke is a true ambassador for English football he wouldn't seriously consider tottenham, they are hardly struggling financially or on the football side. As has been said hes just promoting himself so we don't forget True - as you say Spurs have no need. But he has a palace of a house within easy commute from Tottenham. And like all these deals everyone gets something out of it. I do actually admire Beckham a lot and he's done a lot of good for the game. He's made shitloads in the process of course.
  20. Well it certainly isn't Coloccini because he was playing superbly well last season too. And Barton is only doing what he should have been doing ever since we bought him in 2007. Simpson's progress this season has been astonishing.

  22. Defenders probably on average are a bit taller tbh. He's nearly a very good winger but like a few of our players you're never sure what you're going to get on the day. I thought he did well in the Chelsea game against one of the best left backs in the world. He actually stuck in some decent crosses as well. But he hasn't done much when he's been on the pitch since then. Yesterday he had their (admittedly piss poor) left back on toast, but the end product was strangely lacking.

    Alan Pardew

Possibly but winning is all that matters. True, but i'm not getting involved in blowing Pardew for great tactics. Two poor sides for me. So when we win it's two poor sides, when we lose to the likes of City and Spurs, nothing to do with the superior quality of the opposition, just Pardew's fault. Right! Wrong. I didn't comment after those two games. And today there was a lack of quality, could have had 5 if not for that lack of quality. Gotta blame Pards for that lack of quality....
  24. No pace but can deliver. He is Beckham's apprentice tbh. If we can get him I'm ok with that but he'll need some counselling on the temptations of our magnificent city.

    Alan Pardew

I agree that he needs time, he's got it anyway. I don't hate him but I think his rumoured involvement in the sacking of Hughton was s***. We have no proof that he was involved but I find it hard to believe that his name was randomly plucked out of fresh air. He was brought in as an upgrade on Hughton so my expectations of him are to do better than the person he’s replaced and he’ll not get an easy time off me because of how he got the job. Not bothered about how he got it tbh, anyone in his position would take a job like ours if it was on offer. He didn't sack CH nor did he force Ashley to make that decision, he was offered a job and took it and I don't blame him for that. Totally agree with the bit in bold, and the whole credibility of the decision hangs on that. Pardew has to make a difference and, as I said above, getting results when key players are missing has to be a big part of that difference. And....................do you think he will? It's all well and good playing devils advocate but for me he's a f***ing criminal appointment given his complete lack of gravitas and he's very fortunate to have inherited a 'bunch of lads' with good spirit and togetherness because, without that, his appointment would be taking us down. Like f*ck am I playing devil's advocate. None of us made that decision, it was made by people who are supposed to know what is going on in our club and what is best for it. They are either paid or have the responsibility or have the ownership (or all 3 of those) to get these decisions right. Shout as much as you like now - but now isn't judgement time.
