Bayer Leverkusen vs. Newcastle United: 10/12/25 @ 20:00 (TNT Sport)

I think it's the youth 'keeper. He was in the squad for Milan H last time, iirc. -
It looks more mental to me. Whenever the algo brings his image my way, he looks like he's aged loads since last season. He'll not be at his physical best, but he looks to have really shrunk mentally - either he's got what he wants so the motivation has gone or he's found the summer & subsequent attention a problem. Maybe a combination of both.

They still play 3/5 at the back? Wonder if we try and match their shape a bit here, keeping rotation in mind. Ramsdale Thiaw Schar Burn Murphy Tonali Joelinton Hall Elanga Woltemade Barnes -
This actually is going to be very interesting for us as we know that Howe cares about height for set pieces. A front 3 with Elanga and Wissa taking 2 of the spots is fairly tiny

Does seem to have a good inside run in his locker. He started figuring out to speed things up in that second half/grew in confidence to take risks. We have a tendency to overwork triangles out wide. Sometimes, they're good, but you want to see early balls whipped in as well. Gordon has fallen into this trap many a time too but seems to have gone much more direct in his last 2 appearances.

Very good again. Competition for that spot between him & Barnes is heating up well
-
Really enjoying his return to central, tbh. He pulls strings from there so well.

Newcastle United 2-1 Burnley (06/12/25) | Post-Match From Pg. 27

The worst part of this mess of fixtures in modern football is the mind-numbing management of games you see in matches like this. -
I'd have him starting for Joelinton on Saturday. Burnley will likely sit back a lot so it's not the game for Willock imo.
-
Willock and Ramsey should've been on from 70 minutes, really. Both Miley and Joelinton were understandably looking very leggy for portions of that second half.
-
He was absolutely insane first half. Faded second which isn't a shock.
-
A really good cameo from him.
-
Thought he started really well today but then started to fade quite a bit which lead to sloppiness. He needs more work physically, for sure. A real shame we couldn't get a decent preseason into him.
-
One of him or Willock really should start on Saturday.
-
Thought we were much the better side for 80% of that. Very frustrating we couldn't capitalise on so many good openings, whether actual chances or situations where we just needed a decent final ball. We did that thing again where we were overplaying triangles out wide while our massive striker waits in the box. Very frustrating.
-
Looks like he's not in the Congo squad, going off his IG Story?
-
Considering Howe's use of language, wouldn't be surprised if the 11v11 game he'll be trying him out in is actually vs. Spurs

I think we might see a Willock-Sandro-Ramsey trio just like in the cup. -
The finish was just silly. It being over Little Arms (who is a very good GK) being the icing on the cake. His movement is getting better for what we need but, most importantly, others look to be figuring out how to move around him.

Aaron Ramsdale: return to Southampton confirmed

As we saw with Dubravka last season, having a 'keeper who is just competent with his feet makes a big difference to our available levels of control against 'lesser' sides. There will be trade-offs but the team needs to evolve. -
Just a pleasure to watch.
