West Ham agree fee in region of £15m with Liverpool for Andy Carroll

Not really, everyone knows he performed well for us but most are saying the lad has some flaws, which is fair. He's a good athlete but an average footballer who needs certain things his way to be effective and we've moved on from that style. -

He's destined to be a player that does well for mid-table teams where he's the main man but nothing more, he's simply not a good enough footballer, Sewelly's right, he's not diverse enough and can only play a certain way. Wouldn't suggest him being a sub either, he's an arrogant tosspot that will have a strop if he doesn't get his way, I'd rather keep the team spirit at a 'safe' level and spend the money wisely. -
His on pitch behaviour showed him to be incredibly lazy a lot of the time, selfish, unintelligent and overly-arrogant for a player that's achieved so little in his career. He reminds me of a far less talented HBA at 21 and I don't think he'll 'see the light' so-to-speak and change his ways for some time yet. There's a good player in there somewhere but as has been said, he's incredibly raw and doesn't seem to grasp some of the key concepts of the game, aka teamwork.

Think he'd be a bad move, doesn't fit in with our current philosophy at all and I don't think he has the level of maturity and experience to adapt any time soon.

Might as well post this cracker as well: He's no Craig Gardner, man. Gardner 1-0 Cabaye. Is Gardner better than Cabaye yes or no? Gardner will score more goals than Cabaye. Goals win football games. As if that statement wasn't hilarious on its own anyway, it still ended up: Craig Gardner goals (all competitions) 2011/2012 - 3 Yohan Cabaye Premier League goals 2011/2012 - 4

What an absolute mentalist.

Appalling show of support there, detestable wankers.

How does he know how to select the right system - is this the fabled move to 343 late in the season that worked out well in the end? If so, why didn't he move to it earlier in the season and instead had them in a position where they were almost a certainty for going down? Whatever it is that gets Wigan going when the pressure is off and it's backs to the wall I'm not sure how it's applicable in a context like Liverpool's where he'll be expected to have them challenging at the top end of the table. The fact is young and has the potential to get better is true for every young(ish) manager. He also has the potential to fail miserably and get worse. Personally, I would rather appoint someone with the required experience for a job as complicated and challenging as this if I was their owners. And I include somebody like AVB in that if they want to go young and promising, which would be understandable. Going by your logic Pep Guardiola wouldn't have been appointed by Barça. Experience is completely over-rated, each situation is different and there's no way of guaranteeing one person will do a good job no matter their track record. Perhaps it's actually better their owners think outside of the box and take a risk considering the experienced route has completely fucked them over so far and cost them a shit load of money. I don't think he's as weak as you suggest, he can serve up better football than his predecessor(s) and at a smaller price.

Unwisely mocking our signing already.

Yeah, Gourcuff's not your average player (in a personality sense) and isn't a troublemaker. He wasn't the problem then, it was the dickheads he was playing with.

Would be glorious if West Ham didn't make it into the Prem and Keane and Allardyce met each other in the Championship next year.

15 clean sheets but our defence is dodgy Jesus christ.

If Martinez went there now, it would be the biggest mistake of his career.

As a sidenote, it's amazing how an opinion can change on a player when they're not one of yours. I've never been his biggest fan but I thought he was OK when he played for us and didn't mind him, now I think he's a complete div and am irritated by pretty much everything he says.

Surprised at how many want a new midfielder in, Jonas looked very good there and we have Marveaux, who while needing to prove his fitness, has shown he's a good footballer and looks really suited to a 3 man midfield. While I like and certainly wouldn't want to get rid of Ba, i'd sooner be looking to bring someone to challenge him on that side before another midfielder.

He genuinely seems a little demented

I'd argue it's more the tactics we tend to employ in a 4-4-2 than the formation itself.

Gary Birtles' reaction to it was hilarious. 'Oh think you're a big man are you? Coward' Said with the famous Birtles scorn of course.
